I won't lie, I was a pretty big Elon fan for a while because I liked that he tried new things even if it failed (cybertruck). Then he tweeted the thing about Trump and Epstein and that really put me off because it meant he knew Trump went to the island and said nothing until he needed leverage.
Glad you didn't lie. I bet you don't remember when he called that british diver a pedo because he wouldn't entertain Musk's submarine publicity stunt to save those ketamine kids. Dude was always a freak and you'll always be a retard.
Twitter is back to the valuation Elon bought it at which even at the time was considered overpriced. Youre totally wrong here. Also X being unmoderated finally provides an actual platform for conservatives without getting immediately banned. Half the country can finally speak their minds in an open forum thats not 4chan
Thats the narrative redditors certainly like to push. As if Twitter wasnt a over censored leftoid run dumpster fire before he bought it. It was essentially run by reddit mods before his purchase.
Also, Twitter is back to its original evaluation before he bought it.
And that's the best kind of site. At least you don't get banned when sharing your crazy takes. And people can shit on you without fearing being banned too.
The problem there is hate fosters insanely quickly when there's no one with a spray bottle to keep it at bay. Remember that child that a bunch of degenerates spat on the grave of a couple weeks ago because they disagreed with her political views and got offended by her jokes?
I'd argue it's the opposite. If you overwhelmingly ban one side, as it's usually the case with this types of platforms (see Twitch, for example) you actually encourage the hate growth of that "flavour" of hate. Having two sides telling each other how stupid their extreme ideas are is the best situation to control that. You only need to ban when the user is doing actually illegal stuff.
Now, this doesn't take into account the advertisers' pressure of keeping the content one way or the other to keep it "advertiser friendly".
I kind of wish he would do the same to reddit tbh i got banned from like 5 subs at once by a power mod because i made an abortion joke. They even unironicly called me a nazi
Unrelated to that, this place quickly became heavily censored and ran by bots and astroturfing and a handful of terminally online mods.
Would be pretty funny if he bought it and made it more open like how it used to be while everyone is crying and pissing and shitting their pants
What a cope lmao, the only damage he did was changing its name to X. Still he has more users than ever, and people are going absolutely wild on there, saying whatever they want and making people like you raging off to bluesky, the tiny social media for pedophiles and groomers.
Different case for me. Everyone in my family hates him save for my MAGA uncle who thinks he’s just an eccentric billionaire. I do live in a blue state though.
Bro I'm not out to get him, I'm just contesting your ludicrous assertion that no one cares, when there is a direct correlation between Tesla sales and Elon's descent into a turbo edgelord
Most people I know irl do have string feelings of hatred towards him - don't get too sucked into the contrianism of thinking reddit is the opposite of real life. We fucking hate the guy in the UK.
Nah. People who do Nazi salutes, even as a troll, are reviled by normal people. If you think Elon shouldn't be reviled, I'm guessing you also think Nazis aren't that bad.
He was just another rich dude until he started talking on tv about politics. I think it actually started around the time he called that one guy a kid toucher.
twitter right now is basically unmoderated, the moderation is just done by people mass reporting stuff until it reaches a threshold and badly coded auto detection of keywords... so you can basically say whatever the hell you want and everyone was already there, key to success for years to come

all big subs go to shit but thats a separate issue from reddit mods not being able to tell a difference between removing low quality content and playing thought police as soon as they see something they mildly disagree with, killing any chance of having multiple viewpoints coexist on the same subreddit.
or rather the subreddits that dont have this issue get banned by reddit because the admins are even worse in this regard.
I'd say 50 / 50. I manage a few local subreddits and without moderation they'd be 90% “where can I get drugs / older women?”, “where are the good looking girls?”, “where can I get drunk?” posts and CP.
I've seen a number of subreddits that have started banning links to the x platform. It's pretty clear that reddit is going to have to have a come to Jesus moment about moderation or it's going to die. Something will happen and another great exodus will happen. Its about all its good for. I had the urge to go look at space pics the other day on r/ space and legit the top post I saw was something about Trump bad. This place is just exhausting
Its the shear volume of bots. They are more than just used for profit, but as a political tool. Which is part why we move closer to the dead internet theory, causing the culture of the site to either be sanetised or parodied to death.
Most people don't really care about the minor faults of the site untill it incovieniences them. By which point most people are already engaged enough to not want to go elsewhere.
As for the remaining terminally online, you either learn to ignore it and come to subs like this one or just leave the site for another. But there are so few doing so at any given time, not enough for an exodous.
the moderation is just done by people mass reporting stuff until it reaches a threshold and badly coded auto detection of keywords
Everyone claims this about everything but I've worked for the Trust and Safety department 3 of the Big 5 as well as 3 huge games studios and never have I seen such a system.
I know a guy that is aligned with reddit beliefs here in italy. A good person mind you but the dude genuinely needs psychiatric help and refuses any aid we tried to give him over half a decade.
I just made a comment recently about how Redditors don’t realize that most people in the country or the real world don’t agree with a lot of the stuff said on here, and that they would actually think it’s kind of insane. You would have thought that people would have realized that after Trump won the election even though this site was 100% sure it was going to be a landslide for Kamala, but nope.
Always downvote every bsky/mastodon/trvthsocial link, always upvote every X link and story.
Always downvote everyone shilling alternative sites.
If one of them legitimately offers better functionality, the users will migrate on their own. Otherwise, it's nothing but "orange man bad" with new Musk flavour.
For those saying "Trump sucks", yeah he does, a majority of you still elected him.
I agree 100%. I never let any app send me notifications unless is extremely necessary. If I want something from them I'll open the app.
You know what else is a cancer online? Fucking Pinterest. I hate that site so much. They plague my searches and hide the real sites where the pictures are from. And when you cave in and go into their site only to navigate to the real site you want to visit, THEY ASK YOU TO LOG IN?! Curse you and all your lineage, Pinte-fucking-rest. Hopefully all your servers burn down to ashes.
Literally. I am a preschool teacher and the other teachers at my job are always like, “oh I found this art project on Pinterest!” “Oh I bought this outfit from SHEIN!” “Ahh yeah I got these new sensory toys for the kids on TEMU!”
Pinterest is the Indian child of the internet. it just fucking downloads everything in the lowest quality possible and wants to post it on the internet as if they made it. fuck you pinterest
Just notifications. Like on my phone hotbar. I just sort of mindlessly open them and if it's something im interested in I'll open the app. Reddit replies are a big killer of my time on the occasions I do use reddit.
Because modern internet isnt the wild west anymore, its a collection of 'momentum market leaders'. You have to consistently fuck it up(myspace) and even if you're google you still can't do it(G+).
Lack of moderation is actually fun. Also people who migrated to those apps found out they were among likeminded people and immediately couldn't stand each other.
Yah funny enough thats the first meme I remember seeing about that place on twitter, the scene where he just becomes sadder as the days go on. I think that was coupled with some images of them fighting over small/mundane shit since the people they were used to fighting with on twitter didn't follow. So now naturally they HAVE to fight each other just over petty shit.
Bluesky and threads only popular in NA or some European countries lol. For the rest of the world both of them doesn't exist. Nobody give a shit about elon because the rest of the world is even more right wing than elon.
You are stupid. Its not about you hearing some random indian opinion, its about some random indian hearing yours.
If you are spreading influence or selling a product, reaching more people and especially up and coming countries is important.
You are woke, you go on blueskye and post woke nonesense, everyone agrees, whats the point? You either want to change minds or ragebait people and you cant do that in echo chambers.
When it comes to social, I noticed you have to make a great product and most importantly be the first.
People just won’t move.
Having said that, those other platforms are fine, it’s just going to be hard to grow as fast because of the competition (Twitter). I don’t know if they’re growing or not but if they are, they will do it way more slowly than Twitter did.
X/Twitter was part of the first generation of text-based social media, that was based on the first mover advantage and not quality.
Twitter's concept/mechanics are also kind of shit and designed to spread witty quips through retweets, not encourage actual discussion. As shit as plebbit can be, at least you can actually discuss things.
Twitter isn't there because it's good, it's there because it was early, not terrible at what it was, and was never mismanaged enough to fall on its face (yet still mismanaged enough to never really flourish or seriously challenge the top social media platforms).
most of x user want to feel superior moral sense than others and it is require evil agenda. In bluesky and threads there too biased, they never allow to say evil agenda on their site
They bought one of the biggest platform in existance right near it's user peak. A lot of people already had a twitter account so a lot of people aren't gonna bother switching anymore. "X" has genuinely done nothing to improve the app, it's just that people don't care enough to switch.
"X" has genuinely done nothing to improve the app, it's just that people don't care enough to switch.
Dont care about the app but they improved it being onesided political bullshit and bans which go one side. They also got rid of a lot of bots. Both positive aspects.
Lmao you litterally still get permabanned over certain opinions on x and most of the comment sections on the trending posts are filled with bots.
They made the verified system into a purchasable badge, ruining any form of actual verification that was originally achieved with that concept. This means that not only are there more bots now, some of them are even verified.
And they just flipped the political bias the other direction, this is pretty obvious if you look at it objectively, i mean fuck, musk is still banning people if they hurt his feelings and he has actually banned some subjects from even being discussed in general.
If you really think X is less biased than twitter was it's just because you're not on there enough or you just agree with musk's way of thinking. Because it has, by no means, become less one sided.
Okay your points are valid, and I agree that musk is a baby and bans people who are mean to him, but they're not related what you said before.
You said they did "NOTHING" to improve it. Stopping the onesided political bullshit that also bans you is a lot.
If YOU really think the new twitter is less biased than the old one, it's because you have some weird stuff over your eyes. Or you weren't there enough to see people get banned for wrongthink before.
I can admit he changed things, he just didn't improve it.
He flipped the old twitter ways of banning "conspiracy theorists" and hard right points to now banning lgbt mentions and liberal talking points, that's not an improvement, just a side change.
Sure people are getting banned less than before (i think, I'm not sure), but he's gone to different strategies. Now that he's basically made the platform about paying for exposure, it's only gotten less "fair" to where most tweets that aren't either about supported subjects or from supported accounts don't even see the light of day anymore.
Any web community united by hatred of something - even targets who deserve the hate - is a bad place for one's soul. For better or worse, people use Twitter for many different reasons, and that keeps the place healthier and more interesting.
It's because X is basically a normier 4chan where people will tell you what they really think. Whether it's insanely stupid (and therefore funny) or 300 IQ. The problem with the other sites is that they are ideologically captured and if you say anything interesting the tattletales come.

Twitter is shit but it's still less terrible than Threads or BlueSky.
I've briefly used some mastodon instances in the past but it's just too narrow band.
Redditoids pretending like Twitter was so much better before Elon bought it and was a smooth running ship.
Before Elon bought it, twitter was a massive bot farm + egregious censorship. Now its a massive bot farm, but with mild censorship. The later is better than the former
Before elon it used to be a zoo of keeping insane people who supported one poltiical spectrum, while banning the other side. Like reddit. After elon it was a zoo of keeping both sides, while banning barely anyone. As it should be
I actually like X now it's not moderated to fuck. Feels like actual truthful opinions. Yea there some toxic and spam shit, but the not interested and quick block functions work pretty well. It's not as contrarian, psy-oped or childish as 4chan
Meanwhile Reddit is an absolute cess pit and the subs can't stop devolving into off topic politics and toxic shit. It's over moderated to fuck and anyone with an opinion different from a moderator gets nuked out of any discussion. So the moderation is just suppressing opinions and solving nothing. If it weren't for the porn Reddit would be dead
Bluesky is just ultra lefty moderated Twitter again with all the above problems of X and Reddit combined
Momentum, everyone is on there, the alternatives aren't worth moving, so like Facebook, unless they make the site borderline unusable it'll stick around on momentum alone.
All of these lame platforms attract the most hilarious people - people who want to say whatever they feel, but don't feel like they have to suffer others doing the same.
If I was in control of these platforms, I'd be encouraging this infighting even more. Just keep the outrage going and watch all these losers argue it out for absolutely nothing.
Yeah, it's fantastic. You now exactly to find all the wankers in the World who think their opinion matters - they sign up to lame shit like X with their real names, just so everyone can know what they think about something (usually) completely inconsequential.
Their endless whining keeps these companies afloat. News outlets even report the trends and "issues" as important news. You couldn't even have made this shit up when I was a kid.
I like twitter because when I get blocked by famous people I know they read my critical posts. It’s kinda crazy how easy it is to reach niche intellectuals and media people and call them slurs.
Because when everyone was moving to Threads, Mosseri acted like an idiotic dick and told all the important political figures and intelligentsia to go fuck themselves. So they moved to Bluesky and it killed all the momentum to abandon Twitter since too many people were scattered across multiple apps.
If there is one thing you can trust the average internet consoomer to do. It is to endlessly complain about something while consistently using it regardless. You see this with gaming, TV shows, etc. Social media definitely isn't an exception.
reddit_has_fallenoff@reddit
Reddit isnt real life. Most people dont have strong feelings (of hatred) towards Elon Musk, he is just another rich dude.
Also Mastadon and Bluesky are extremely ghey.
Starbonius@reddit
Nah, Elon is political poison. He even has like -38 in polling among never-die MAGAs. Nobody likes musk. Especially not Elon's Musk

Yeah true
TwilightSolitude@reddit
I'm honestly hopeful about the new Digg. Will be interesting to see what happens when it launches.
Mrsuperepicruler@reddit
Its the shear volume of bots. They are more than just used for profit, but as a political tool. Which is part why we move closer to the dead internet theory, causing the culture of the site to either be sanetised or parodied to death.
Most people don't really care about the minor faults of the site untill it incovieniences them. By which point most people are already engaged enough to not want to go elsewhere.
As for the remaining terminally online, you either learn to ignore it and come to subs like this one or just leave the site for another. But there are so few doing so at any given time, not enough for an exodous.
Tripleberst@reddit
Yep. Word has it that Alexis and Kevin Rose are resurrecting Digg in an attempt to make a social media site without the bots or gay as hell mods.

Always downvote everyone shilling alternative sites.

Push notifications are literal cancer
Skafandra206@reddit
I agree 100%. I never let any app send me notifications unless is extremely necessary. If I want something from them I'll open the app.
You know what else is a cancer online? Fucking Pinterest. I hate that site so much. They plague my searches and hide the real sites where the pictures are from. And when you cave in and go into their site only to navigate to the real site you want to visit, THEY ASK YOU TO LOG IN?! Curse you and all your lineage, Pinte-fucking-rest. Hopefully all your servers burn down to ashes.
bronaghblair@reddit
Literally. I am a preschool teacher and the other teachers at my job are always like, “oh I found this art project on Pinterest!” “Oh I bought this outfit from SHEIN!” “Ahh yeah I got these new sensory toys for the kids on TEMU!”

You either want to change minds or ragebait people and you cant do that in echo chambers.
phoenix277lol@reddit
quite contradictory but most indian politics happens over twitter just like NA
csorfab@reddit
lmfao you have no idea about the world, americuck
The_real_bandito@reddit
When it comes to social, I noticed you have to make a great product and most importantly be the first.
People just won’t move.
Having said that, those other platforms are fine, it’s just going to be hard to grow as fast because of the competition (Twitter). I don’t know if they’re growing or not but if they are, they will do it way more slowly than Twitter did.
ObjectBrilliant7592@reddit
X/Twitter was part of the first generation of text-based social media, that was based on the first mover advantage and not quality.
Twitter's concept/mechanics are also kind of shit and designed to spread witty quips through retweets, not encourage actual discussion. As shit as plebbit can be, at least you can actually discuss things.
Twitter isn't there because it's good, it's there because it was early, not terrible at what it was, and was never mismanaged enough to fall on its face (yet still mismanaged enough to never really flourish or seriously challenge the top social media platforms).
tunacanstan81@reddit
X is more conservative hence why it's popular as most of the world population is conservative.
Pakushy@reddit
the bluesky algorithm is atrocious. half of all the posts are about far left politics or facebook tier minion posts.
Puzzleheaded-Gur6464@reddit
most of x user want to feel superior moral sense than others and it is require evil agenda. In bluesky and threads there too biased, they never allow to say evil agenda on their site
Hawt_Dawg_II@reddit
They bought one of the biggest platform in existance right near it's user peak. A lot of people already had a twitter account so a lot of people aren't gonna bother switching anymore. "X" has genuinely done nothing to improve the app, it's just that people don't care enough to switch.
Bricc_Enjoyer@reddit
Dont care about the app but they improved it being onesided political bullshit and bans which go one side. They also got rid of a lot of bots. Both positive aspects.
Hawt_Dawg_II@reddit
Bricc_Enjoyer@reddit
Okay your points are valid, and I agree that musk is a baby and bans people who are mean to him, but they're not related what you said before.
You said they did "NOTHING" to improve it. Stopping the onesided political bullshit that also bans you is a lot.
If YOU really think the new twitter is less biased than the old one, it's because you have some weird stuff over your eyes. Or you weren't there enough to see people get banned for wrongthink before.
Hawt_Dawg_II@reddit
I can admit he changed things, he just didn't improve it.
He flipped the old twitter ways of banning "conspiracy theorists" and hard right points to now banning lgbt mentions and liberal talking points, that's not an improvement, just a side change.
Sure people are getting banned less than before (i think, I'm not sure), but he's gone to different strategies. Now that he's basically made the platform about paying for exposure, it's only gotten less "fair" to where most tweets that aren't either about supported subjects or from supported accounts don't even see the light of day anymore.
orangy57@reddit
Twitter users are spineless and so addicted to arguing that they'll never leave the sinking ship
ccznen@reddit

dazzleator147@reddit
It's because X is basically a normier 4chan where people will tell you what they really think. Whether it's insanely stupid (and therefore funny) or 300 IQ. The problem with the other sites is that they are ideologically captured and if you say anything interesting the tattletales come.
beaverlyknight@reddit

Redditoids pretending like Twitter was so much better before Elon bought it and was a smooth running ship.
Before Elon bought it, twitter was a massive bot farm + egregious censorship. Now its a massive bot farm, but with mild censorship. The later is better than the former
Bricc_Enjoyer@reddit
Before elon it used to be a zoo of keeping insane people who supported one poltiical spectrum, while banning the other side. Like reddit. After elon it was a zoo of keeping both sides, while banning barely anyone. As it should be

Very little moderation. That's it.
DraugrDraugr@reddit
Bluesky is just ultra lefty moderated Twitter again with all the above problems of X and Reddit combined
lolretkj@reddit

Momentum, everyone is on there, the alternatives aren't worth moving, so like Facebook, unless they make the site borderline unusable it'll stick around on momentum alone.
FuckAllYourHonour@reddit
All of these lame platforms attract the most hilarious people - people who want to say whatever they feel, but don't feel like they have to suffer others doing the same.
If I was in control of these platforms, I'd be encouraging this infighting even more. Just keep the outrage going and watch all these losers argue it out for absolutely nothing.
Moses_On_A_Motorbike@reddit
Sadly, I think Elon and reddit admins know this business model.
FuckAllYourHonour@reddit
Yeah, it's fantastic. You now exactly to find all the wankers in the World who think their opinion matters - they sign up to lame shit like X with their real names, just so everyone can know what they think about something (usually) completely inconsequential.
Their endless whining keeps these companies afloat. News outlets even report the trends and "issues" as important news. You couldn't even have made this shit up when I was a kid.
