ULPT: How do I make paystubs that can bypass the system
Posted by StatusFeeling9904@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 44 comments
I’m living in a hotel right now because my mom kicked me out for not giving her money and I’m trying to get my own apartment. I can’t use my job because I don’t make enough money to qualify for 3x but I’m responsible, just don’t have no one to co-sign. I don’t want to get another roommate because my last roommate kept quitting their job and I had to pay 100% of the rent by myself for months, making 14/hr might I add, and we ended up getting an eviction. This lady trying to charge me $125 for each paystub and I need 6 so that’s not possible. So I’m just trying to get this apartment, hopefully asap because I only have enough to pay for this hotel for a week before it hits my apartment money. So any tips or something to help me please and thank you.

Any recommendations? There are so many people to choose from and I can’t tell who’s legit/who’s scamming (or might not know what they’re doing)

Scan your paystub, open PowerPoint, paste the image on a blank slide. Enlarge. Insert shape, white rectangles, no border, over dollar amounts. Type new dollar amounts in the rectangles. Change font and font color to match original as closely as possible. Use snipping tool to copy the edited pic. Paste image onto new slide. Shrink to original size. Use snipping tool again to save the small image as a pdf. Print or email to landlord.
Aware-Butterfly4158@reddit
How much do you charge 🤣🤣🤣seriously. I have a full time job but like another commenter said this 3x the rent BS you’d need two jobs. I only have one now and I’m 500 short of that. Hopefully I get a second job soon. I have the stubs but I would need to make more copies from my old job to show I have two

I worked in apartments for a few years and it's kind of hard to doctor paystubs these days. Lower end apartments (which might be your best bet considering your pay rate) will usually accept faked paystubs, but they also usually call your employer to confirm. Your best bet is to completely fake your pay stubs (def convert to a pdf) and put a friend as your boss for the employer reference. I think as long as you have an accessible computer, you should be able to find a generic template for a stub. Steer clear of faking contract work tho bc then they might ask to see bank statements for cash flow
Interesting-Blood354@reddit
Don’t just convert to PDF, print and scan if you want a guarantee of no metadata showing changes
Holiday-Fig-2414@reddit
Scan?

Scan where what do you mean by that?
Interesting-Blood354@reddit
Sorry I mean scan it with your printer (so it goes onto your computer again)

Download the free, 30 day trial of QuickBooks. Setup a fake company. Go-to EMPLOYEES, PAY EMPLOYEES.
guyinnova@reddit
As a former property manager, if we had any doubt at all about someone's pay stubs, we'd Google the company and call them directly to confirm employment. As someone else said, a small individual landlord would be the least likely to take this step.
ML1948@reddit
125 a pay-stub is crazy, unless they're doing something special to legitimize them that is a total scam. This seems to be dipping into sketchy activities so be safe.
Hypothetically, if you generated some paystubs on some generator, printed them out, and then wrote on them in pen convincingly, I doubt anyone would question it. If you fuck up paying for this new place though, I imagine this could come back to bite you.

"Patriot offers a 30-day free trial of their payroll software. During this trial, you can set up payroll and generate pay stubs at no cost" according to Chat, anyway.

yeah but if i had to choose between sleeping in a tent legally or having a roof over my head, i think ill pick the roof, im working as a full time employee & ive gotten raises but ill never make enough to make 3x the rent with so many ppl moving to florida & driving up the cost & no family to support me so sometimes you just have to do what you have to, to survive
ML1948@reddit
Gotta do what you gotta do. Definitely don't pay that kind of money for fake stubs unless they're something special.
These look fine to me. Depends on how hard they plan to vet you, but I imagine they wouldn't do much if they didn't buy it. No hard background/employment check or anything right? https://templatelab.com/pay-stub-templates/ Might need to sketchier.

I recommend going with a private landlord over a property management company. Get on the phone with the owner, let them know your situation. Often times a private landlord is more willing to be flexible on you making 2 or 2.5 the rent, especially if you can give really good recommendations. You can offer to give extra deposit to secure the unit.
This may not work if you have an eviction on your credit *

In a similar predicament myself, really wish I’d thought to try fake pay stubs. I’m in a really weird position where I got straight cash that could pay the rent for the next year easy, but actual income is pathetic right now and my assets are nowhere near their mythical fucking 3x the entire lease bs. Why is it not good enough that I could just pay them outright? Who tf knows. But they want me to downsize (I’m already in the apartment… ex left the lease…) at my own cost, and the smaller place won’t even be that much cheaper than here.
Could’ve all been avoided if I just lied smdh
Tasty_Pepper5867@reddit
I don’t know if you can swing this, but when I was in your position, I offered a larger security deposit. Basically, I paid an extra $1200 (nearly double the rent) in addition to the normal security deposit. Ended up getting it back 7 years later when I moved out.
Y_eyeatta@reddit
Just be careful. You could get your own check stubs scanned and just change the amounts on them but if they ask for a copy of your tax returns that will be proven to be a lie.
