Thankfully they made a safe landing. Interesting to see the emergency services staged and intercept the plane upon landing.

Wasn't a fire in the cockpit. Electrical Odor was all that was declared.

Wonder if ABX carries EVAS
Miserable-Point-2826@reddit
ABX planes don't have EVAS

Can't speak to their -300s, but their -200s most certainly do not. Just smoke goggles.

Make of the plane? No? Too funny...🤷😂

Hmmm. Nothing in the news about this.

landing weight limits are obviously ignored in these scenarios.
What are the possible implications? Damaged undercarriage? Collapsed gear etc.
Obviously primary goal is to get on the ground more safe(enoughly)

Will depend on the rate of sink at landing to. But on a good day just overheating brakes, maybe a few blown tires, maybe a few inspections with a couple panels removed.
fly-guy@reddit
Depends a bit on the airplane in question, but like already mentioned, hot brakes and a possible deflation of a tire is a thing. But after that a maintenance check probably has to be done and the severity depends on weight, airplane, how hard the touchdown was and probably some other factors.
For instance an Airbus 330 is sort of certified to land heavy as they don't have a fuel dump system (maybe some do, but most don't). If you make a smooth touchdown (exact number are in the books), you can land it up to the maximum takeoff weight without a (big) maintenance check afterwards.
All in all, not a big thing nowadays

Overheated brakes is the biggest issue.

I saw this on the flightradar24 I was hoping someone would post something about it. Thats wild!

There's AMM and FCOM procedures for an overweight landing, usually in with flapless or RTOs. Start off with criteria check (weight and landing speed) and probably rigging checks and scrapping wheels and tyres and take it from there.

A fire in the cockpit sounds scary af
Well a fire on an aircraft in general is scary lol
Kudos to the pilots for landing safely
