Pretty standard Lebowski experience, really
Most people don't really enjoy it the first time, it's kind of baffling
Bontkers@reddit
Yeah well, that’s like your opinion man.
Salty-Woodpecker-951@reddit
That’s what I came to say

The first time I saw this I was in university and one of the guys on our floor had it playing - I was like a child who wandered into the middle Of a… sorry lost my train of thought there. Anyways I was asking what was going on and why this guy was shopping in his bathrobe and they just said “he’s the dude”.
I was curious enough to download it and watch for myself - then proceeded to have it on in the background of my dorm room pretty much the whole year with a little White Russian setup. That’s marvellous

You didn't go to college.
Mind_if_I_do_uh_J@reddit
I'll bet he doesn't remember most of it.
wongo@reddit
Spent most of his time, uhh, y'know, occupying various administrative buildings, smoking a lot of that thai-stick, breaking into the ROTC

There you go. Rambling again.
AitrusX@reddit
Is this uh… what day is this?
2wheelsThx@reddit
The more you watch it, the more you get it, and the funnier it gets.

My thinking about this case had become very uptight.

I admit, the first time I saw Log Jammin’ I thought the plot was ludicrous.
General_Speaker4875@reddit
It took me like four times. Probably because I was fucked up each time. But now I think it the greatest movie ever made
Double_M2@reddit
Say what you will about hating the film, at least it’s an ethos
Persimmon_Virtual@reddit
First watch I wanted to reach through the screen and throttle Walter! LoL.
Salt-Ad4952@reddit
Also let’s not forget, let’s NOT forget. That keeping an amphibious rodent, ya know, per domestic, within the city….that ain’t legal either.

Well Dude, it has lots of in’s and lots of outs
dmroeder@reddit
I mean, it's not just... it might not be just such a simple... you know?

It caught me off guard after Fargo, but now it’s one of my favorite movies

New shit comes to light in subsequent viewings. Plus it gets increasingly quotable.
2wheelsThx@reddit
What the fuck are you talking about?
bljuva_57@reddit
Far out man, far fucking out.
yachster@reddit
What the fuck is with this guy?
Tojuro@reddit
A lot of professional reviewers gave it a mediocre review and then reappraised the film later.
Roger Ebert's first review gave it a mediocre score and complains something like "the shambling plot goes all over and ends up nowhere". He came back 10 years later to give it a perfect score, saying it as one of the best films ever made, and nailed the fact that the plot is only there to drive the character interactions.
I think people don't get it the first time cause they are trying to follow the detective story, when it's really about the people and interactions of the world's most unqualified detective.
Mr-Dobolina@reddit
The Cohen Brothers do not make bad films. FACT.
They’ve made a few disappointing films, but the only reason they were disappointing was because all their other films set expectations at an impossible level.

roshanritter@reddit
Me too, I was disappointed by the plot that didn’t seem to follow the flow of the Coen brothers movies thus far.
LazorusGrimm@reddit
Well, that's, like, your opinion, man.
etronsman@reddit
That’s marvelous
hefebellyaro@reddit
Me too. I saw it in like 99 or 2000 after a friend wss taving about it. I watched it late one night and really didnt get it. I think i was wanting to not like it, because my friend was so annoying about it. But a few more times it clicked. I watched it everyrnight while falling asleep with one of those aold tv/vhs combos.
