I feel like some people still don't appreciate this movie for the sheer genius that it was
ringobob@reddit
The moment Dan Hedaya said "anything happens to my daughter, I got a .45 and a shovel. I doubt anybody would miss you" I knew this movie was worth my time.
rafuzo2@reddit
He ate that role up.
“What is that?” “A dress” “Says who?” “Calvin Klein”
JustAboutAlright@reddit
“Everywhere in L.A. takes twenty minutes!” He’s so good in it. “Honey, I couldn’t be happier than if they were based on real grades.”
solon_isonomia@reddit
"You divorce wives, not children."
Roguefem-76@reddit
And that's how you know he's the best dad. ❤️

Words to live by!
mfigroid@reddit
This was true when that movie came out. Today, not so much.
snark_maiden@reddit
Just saw him on an ep of Miami Vice!
Fistofpaper@reddit
That it STILL flies under the radar as a retelling of Emma by Jane Austen baffles me.
nicolette333@reddit
It was so great. Based off Emma by Jane Austin I think.
Roguefem-76@reddit
I wasn't 100% sure it was Alicia until she made the "Ew!" face. She's the best. 😆
kteachergirl@reddit
I don’t know if it’s a tour but I’m seeing her in Denver in a few weeks to do a Q&A about the movie!
Bad-job-dad@reddit
I can't believe Paul Rudd was her love interest in that movie. His character was her older stepbrother. She was 18 playing 16 and he was 26 playnh 18.
Still love this movie. Rolling with the homies.
Beautiful-Year-6310@reddit
Being 16 and dating an 18 year old was totally normal back then. Honestly I still don’t think it’s that big of a deal even though everyone else does.
mfigroid@reddit
Dating your stepbrother/sister was and is not.
UnicornOnTheJayneCob@reddit
*EX step brother!
fleetiebelle@reddit
It's pretty clear that they're not biologically related, and their parents weren't married for very long. They didn't grow up together.
mfigroid@reddit
I know that but it's still weird.
TealTemptress@reddit
I have a Christmas mug with gnomes on it that says, “Rolling with my gnomies!”
goldenratio1111@reddit
I once had a fantasy football team named "Rolling with Mahomes."
Grand_Admiral_Theron@reddit
I had a talking Iron Sheik action figure that says "Rolling with my Jabronis!"
Kacey-R@reddit
I did not like Paul Rudd in this movie but have liked him in everything else I have seen him in. He seemed too old for Cher and I also found his character boring.
ringobob@reddit
I liked him in the movie. He was too old, but I was closer to her age so that didn't bother me, and too nearly incestuous, but they don't get deep enough into it to really give me the ick.
Honestly, I see it as a trope reversal. It's usually the fully fleshed out male protagonist with a more shallow love interest, reflected through the eyes of the protagonist. This is just the reverse. That it's a Jane Austen adaptation probably makes that the right choice.
Extension_Excuse_642@reddit
Rollin' with the homies. First thought. RIP.
Kimber80@reddit
Underrated late-GenX movie. Better than the Breakfast Club or Ferris Bueller for sure, though not quite at Fast Times at Ridgemont High level.
To me, "Fast Times" and "Clueless" kind of bookend the GenX high school movies. Early and late GenX.

Great pate, but I gotta motor if I wanna be ready for that funeral.
SuburbaniteMermaid@reddit
Better than Breakfast Club? Look I love Clueless but it isn't better than Breakfast Club. This is some kinda heresy.
Hurley002@reddit (OP)
This is such a great observation, totally.
This_Tangerine_943@reddit
Alicia still blazing.
Minirth22@reddit
This is so damn cute and wholesome, it’s making me feel things! STAHP.
pin00ch@reddit
What is this "feel things"?
Minirth22@reddit
No clue, just trying out the new buzzwords, trying to stay relevant! 🤪
athenaseraphina@reddit
So you’re clueless?
Minirth22@reddit
Oh no, I was never stylish enough to aspire to that! :) TRAGICALLY, I am not fancy.
athenaseraphina@reddit
lol you said “no clue” so I just had to say it 😂
Rishtu@reddit
That is NOT Alicia Silverstone is it?
allthethings13@reddit
It’s playing in my local theater this weekend and I arranged a girls night to go see it! So excited! I rarely see new movies but I check the listings periodically for rereleases and was able to catch the Goonies earlier this year.
400footceiling@reddit
Is that Alicia?
Hurley002@reddit (OP)
With her son, yes.
MirSydney@reddit
Her son that she used to feed by "baby-birding" him?
frogger2020@reddit
Or was she breast feeding him as a toddler?
generalgirl@reddit
That was my second thought after "wow, that kid looks just like their mom".
yerfatma@reddit
Toilet trained him by staring deeply into his eyes too, IIRC.
MovingTarget-@reddit
oh God no
YouMustBeJoking888@reddit
Hahaha... it was strange when she started to go off the rails.
Safetosay333@reddit
Ha! I was about to ask.
400footceiling@reddit
Wow, I just don’t feel like that was 30 years ago.
periodicsheep@reddit
that’s only because we’re still 15. right? right???
Weird-Girl-675@reddit
I still remeber what I wore when I saw it in the theater….so yes I’m still 20.
pocketdare@reddit
I'm a bit older at 25, but otherwise, RIGHT!
400footceiling@reddit
I dunno, I was pretty stupid at 15, but point taken.
periodicsheep@reddit
baby, we were ALL stupid at 15. it’s just the way of the world.
actuallychrisgillen@reddit
Just caught the stage show in the West End, definitely a lot of fun, would recommend :).
Braincloud@reddit
I never saw it. I already had a kid or two by the time this came out.
DrainedPatience@reddit
"You're man Christian is a cake boy."
"A what?!"
"He's a disco dancing, Oscar Wilde reading, Streisand ticket holding, friend of Dorothy. Know what I'm saying?"
SolomonGrumpy@reddit
Still not getting it.
😁
DrainedPatience@reddit
He's gay.
Cher was doing her best to woo him when it was fairly obvious he was going in the other direction.
SolomonGrumpy@reddit
Ha ha. Thank you. I've seen the movie. I was just taking the piss.
This-Development-994@reddit
She still look good
SolomonGrumpy@reddit

I have never seen it! What is wrong with me?
zoso4evr@reddit
I've never seen Pretty Woman and every girl friend and family member have their flabbers completely gasted by this info so now I won't watch it. It's my non-toxic not-like-other-girls attribute.
daliw@reddit
I recently saw it again for the first time in 30 yrs, on DVD no less from the local library. All the characters are just as delightful as I remembered. Just can’t believe it’s that old. Some of the cast have passed as well. RIP Brittany. And Paul Rudd? You know what I’m going to say. lol.

Amy Heckerling made generation-defining movies for the first Gen X’ers (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) and the last of the Gen X’ers (Clueless)
TheRealDylanTobak@reddit
They eye candy in that movie pegged the meter.
davekva@reddit
This is cool, but it's from 2020.. She made it to announce she was joining TikTok.
Mo_Steins_Ghost@reddit
One of the best adaptations of a Jane Austen novel. One of the best contemporary pop adaptations of any classic novel…. Of course it’s an Amy Heckerling movie.
And it has the best, if a little dated, meta reference to other literary works…
Cher: Hamlet didn’t say that.
Heather: I think I remember Hamlet accurately.
Cher: Well, I remember Mel Gibson accurately, and he didn’t say that. That Polonius guy did.
AgileMastodon0909@reddit
I really hope this happens. I love Clueless!
