Anyone see “The Last Showgirl“?

Pamela Anderson plays a GenX showgirl in a burlesque show that is closing after 30 years and has a hard time moving on. Kinda depressing. Really hits home after reading some of the stories on this sub.

Sounds like The Wrestler but for hot girls
RagsMaloney@reddit
That's exactly what it is.

It's hard to be sympathetic about the character. Pamela Anderson is fantastic in the role, but this is a character that made some VERY questionable decisions related to family versus "career".

No judging Bautista though? Like come on. Maybe you missed the point.

Yeah, you're probably right, my small man brain couldn't figure it out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Jamie Lee Curtis performance was amazing. Pam Anderson also did great in a role that was perfect for her.

Wonderful film, sad and real with great characters and the vibe was authentic

I did
it was pretty good

Enjoyed the story. Thought the filming style was sort of hard to taken in. Some of the shots just had this super thin focal length or whatever and it just looked distorted to me in some scenes.
Given it was directed by a Coppola, I’d imagine she knows exactly what she was doing and everything was intentional.
Story was great, actors were awesome. My comments above hardly a complaint, just an observation.

I love that Pamela Anderson is going natural these days, she looks amazing, and good for her.
I watched the movie recently and was pretty underwhelmed. I'd heard enough about it that my expectations were somewhat high, so that was a mild bummer.

Yep it was good just kinda slow, but beautiful. I love Pam!!!

Yes! Very depressing. Just another part of American culture that is disappearing.

I mean, it's appropriate though- Las Vegas itself is ephemeral. The entire town didn't exist until 1905. Nothing stays and the resorts keeping getting torn down for new ones. It's fitting.

I feel it was robbed for an Oscar nod.

Both actors, Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis, were amazing. Movie depressed the hell out of me though.

Wait the director is Sofia Coppolas niece?

Yup.

I saw it and it was amazing. She was so good in that character. And Jamie Lee Curtis. Wow. I honestly didn't expect to cry but when she did that dance. And then Pamela's last show.
Dang movie made me feel my feelings.

Such a good movie. Pam was amazing in that role, and Jamie Lee Curtis too!

I watched it! It was but heavy but Pam is a true queen!! Beautiful inside and out!! Glad she’s finally getting the flowers she serves. 💐

I actually went to see it at the theater, because of all of the positive reviews that she had been receiving, so I was curious. I thought that her performance was really good. It didn't feel like I was watching "Pamela Anderson"; she owned that role. I'm so happy for her now that she is being her authentic self, and showing her impressive skill as an actor. I love that she is a 56 year old woman who is having her new "moment" after such a long time.

Yes!! Hit so hard, especially with my 50th birthday looming and looking for work after nearly two decades with my previous company!

I watched. Appreciated it, but definitely heavy. Kept thinking about Billie Lourd’s role and how it could have been challenging…
