To be honest, most Italians, especially younger generation, do view Albanians as ‘practically the same people with a slightly different culture’.

It’s hard to explain, for example in my school if someone said ‘I’m Albanian’, most people wouldn’t view them as ‘foreign’, but more like the way they view someone from a different Italian region.

Most people reading that title and/or Rama’s comment aren’t chronically online Serbs which means so their initial reaction isn’t some pigeon-IQ, knee-jerk nationalist take on Albania. Instead, it’s more like: “Oh, I didn’t know Albania was like Italy,” or “I thought Albania was dangerous, etc.” Generally, Rama makes comments like this to subtly subvert foreign stereotypes and reshape the image of Albania and Albanians abroad..
