im a marine bio graduate and i have finished my undergrad thesis about ichthyoplankton. per my adviser and other instructors, my paper is good enough for publishing. are there any journals that you would suggest for this kind of study? maybe ideally free or relatively affordable.
additionally, do u have tips also as someone who's navigating this process for the first time? your advice would be very welcome
additionally, I'll be orally presenting it in a conference next month. perhaps you have something that u could impart that would be very helpful for me? THANK YOU!!!

Always only submit to one journal at a time. You typically submit to the best paper (by impact factor) which you believe could get published first. But each journal has their own editorial guidelines, like number of pages and such. They have internal staff who help you determine what changes are needed to get it in front of reviewers.
Manuscripts typically go to an editor first, and the editor determines whether it’s good enough to go for peer review. “Good enough” meaning “big enough breakthrough on interesting topic to be worthy of publication in this particular journal.”

Marine biodiversity, depending on your subject.

Ask your advisor. They will be a co-author on any paper you publish based on your thesis anyway.

Your advisor should be the one showing you the way. I am sure if your advisor helped edit then they will be a coauthor (usually the case). Otherwise just look at the journals in that topical area and submit according to instructions.

Yes, you need to talk to your supervisor about this.
On cost, most journals are free to publish in, but it takes months from submission to review and (hopefully) publication.
Open access journals have a fee, or you can pay to go open access in other journals, but that’s something your university should be covering if they want that.
