G19 Gen 3 vs PSA equivalent

Just wondering from anyone's first hand experience after actually using a PSA dagger for a while if there are any downsides relative to a Glock? Material wise, reliability wise, or anything else? Is there any benefit for paying a few hundred more aside from getting the brand name or the potential for higher resale value of a Glock? I haven't heard of any police departments picking up PSA daggers or anything and wondering if there's something I'm missing.

A used Glock wouldn't even be a few hundred more. But the Glock will have more aftermarket parts/holster availability, thats the main reason for me.

Thought they would have the same availability of aftermarket parts as a clone? Same as for the holster ?
Exact-Event-5772@reddit
An amount, yeah. They definitely wont share a lot though. I'm pretty sure the Dagger doesn't even technically take 100% Glock parts.

My main concern is the slide and barrel. I've got a slide and Barstow 357 barrel fitted to the slide already so want something I can throw it on. Assuming g19s frames are the same as a g23, so just want something that can take what I already have. Now I'm leaning towards the Ruger someone else mentioned

I would get a police trade in Glock. The RXM is the same storty as the Dagger, definitely more options with the modularity though.

I've decided to never buy anything used again. It would be alright if it was guaranteed to be functional and I was guaranteed it legitimately came from a police trade in, but I've had issues with used firearms that I found to not be functional when I got home. I also went down a rabbit hole about a year ago. My neighbor had a pistol stolen and the cop told her the meth head that stole it probably already pawned it somewhere. I called two friends who are both local FFLs in the area (SC). They said they would keep an eye out for her pistol, but as we were talking they both pointed out to me that although there is a stolen gun registry that the police have, FFLs don't have access to it. If someone came to them and sold them a stolen pistol, and they resold it to a customer, they (the FFLs) would have no way of knowing. If they shut down their business and are forced to turn in all their transfers to the ATF, it would come to light. Or if the unsuspecting customer has something happen and the cops check the serial number they would be put in a bad situation. Going forward, I only buy new.

A Glock would be the best gun to buy used, hands down. There's only like 30 parts to troubleshoot if something is wrong.
Also, I'm almost positive FFLs can call to see if a gun is on that stolen list, my local pawn shop tells me thats what they do.

It may depend on state law, and pawn shops might be different than a typical gun store. Even if able to do a check, I know most don't around here. I sold an M&P to an FFL and as I was selling it someone else overheard the sale and bought it right there from the FFL on the spot. Transaction was complete in no more than 15 minutes all around. But, someone just told me academy sports have Glocks on sale right now for $419, so might go that route if still available when I get paid Monday

I have both. few pros and cons to both. G19 has a better reputation, slightly more quality feel, slightly better trigger though the trigger safety dingus kinda sucks. Dagger has metal sights , more variety of styles and colors, still reliable and about half the price of the glock, trigger is crunchy and a bit heavier but the trigger shoe is more comfortable. they both take the same upgrades and magazines. they both manage recoil the same. They both shoot similar groups sizes with slight edge to the dagger. I find the grip feel of the dagger slightly more comfortable, but that's my preference.

Thanks for the reply. For the price I will probably get the dagger and if it's not something I like it won't be a large wasted cost

I have six daggers (four in bundles with other items I was going to buy anyways, two because I wanted specific colors) and two Glocks. I frankly don't see much difference in the trigger. I am lubing the trigger shoe and internals with this: https://www.amazon.com/Liqui-Moly-300mL-Cera-Tec/dp/B07BH4D517 and run the trigger about a hundred times with the slide removed. I even measured the pull strength with a Glock and it was exactly the same. Neither trigger matches a real trigger as in a CZ P01, :-).
Classic-Upstairs7239@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the reply. Don't have a P01, but do have a PCR. I'm definitely not looking for something that will compete with the PCRs trigger. Just want a lightweight pistol in 9mm, where I can swap out the slide and barrel for a slide and custom fitted Barstow G23 barrel I already have. Otherwise I'd probably be picking up a PDP Pro
Theworker82@reddit
I like mine, I just need to upgrade the trigger.

Sounds good. Thanks for the reply

Look carefully at the Ruger RXM. Better optic mount than either Glock or PSA. It has an internal steel frame connecting the front and rear steel frame rails. In a Glock or PSA the front and rear rails are only connected by plastic.
And here's the best part:
https://magpul.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Rxm
It comes as a Glock 19 clone but for $40 each you can swap to 19x length or "Glock 26L", short grip, 4" barrel, a setup Glock themselves never sold.
Classic-Upstairs7239@reddit (OP)
Is it a clone that can accept a g19 slide and barrel? Wondering because I've got a g19 slide, barrel, and a bunch of extra parts for a G19/G23
JimMarch@reddit
Yes, it's a Gen 3 Glock 19 clone, with one caveat: some aftermarket trigger sets don't fit because they need more clearance that's taken by the extra steel in the internal chassis.
Slides, barrels and recoil springs are good to go, BUT the Ruger RXM slide has a seriously good optic mount matched only by the Springfield Echelon. The factory RXM barrel however is about as good as a factory Gen3 Glock, not as good as a Gen5 Glock. People have been dropping Gucci-grade Glock gen 3 barrels in the RXM frame and slide and are getting great results.
There's already a good selection of aftermarket triggers retuned for the RXM already.

Thank you. I'm reading up more on them now. Can't believe I hadn't heard of them

This is actually worth watching:
https://youtu.be/JMV8TQLpKRo
Proves three things:
1) Basic mechanical accuracy isn't bad. Not top tier.
2) Seems to favor heavier slugs. Not a problem. Other recent Ruger barrels have shown the same trend, like the Security 9. From a 4" barrel there's lots of good 147gr loads that will get plenty of speed, HST and Gold Dot. If you have to deal with New Jersey the Hornady Critical Duty 135 will work well enough.
3) Throw a drop in Gucci level Glock Gen3 compatible barrel in it, and you can get a big boost in accuracy. This tells us barrel quality is one way they got a street price down below $400.

I have several Glocks, Daggers, and other clones. I like the ergos of the Dagger (probably second only to Shadow Systems) and they're reliable enough, but I find they have more slide play than a stock Glock. It's generally not an issue until you go to upgrade trigger/ignition components. The striker lug to cruciform engagement needs a fair bit of tuning and some trigger systems (like the Timney Alpha) can't be made to work reliably. The only other downside is the Dagger uses roll pins for the trigger housing and locking block that have to be pounded out when you strip the frame.
Classic-Upstairs7239@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the reply. Don't know why someone else downvoted you... You said reliable enough. Have you had issues with reliability aside from when attempting to change to after market trigger?
matteekay@reddit
Nope! I've even gotten aftermarket triggers to run really well. I shot the Area 7 championship last year with a Dagger.
Classic-Upstairs7239@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the reply. I'll give the dagger a shot
