200k members in here. How many of us would you estimate are recognizable celebrities with an anonymous account? Like is Macaulay Culkin in here posting as Engineered_hippo5?
We all move along in our lives, but there’s no reason to have up the sub. Show yourselves!
JaseDroid@reddit
Not something I thought about. I hope they get the peace they want through anonymity.
I don't think many celebrities know what kind of life fame brings when they start out
Searchlights@reddit
I don't know how to put this but I'm a pretty big deal
handsomeape95@reddit
Would you please perform a cannon ball at your next garden party?
shutterslappens@reddit
If this is real, please tell me. I want a challenge like figuring out a secret identity.

I'm not famous at all, but in my life I've known a lot of people who are.
I imagine, if my experience in the 00s when I was still a social creature is any indicator: that all of reddit is absolutely full of famous folks.
Most of the famous or even semi-famous people that I knew when I was younger would talk about how much they loved the internet because it was the only place where they could be a 'regular person.' It's really hard to go out and be social as a famous person because everyone recognizes you. Maybe that's a thing you're into, but even if you are you miss being able to just be a voice in a crowd, an anonymous face at the bar.
The anonymity of text and the internet grants that. Reddit is one of the few places where that's still a thing.
Logvin@reddit
Marlon Brando used to spend time in AOL chatrooms arguing politics with people, often getting banned for telling people to F off.
I imagine most people are not interested in arguing to the godfathers face IRL.
BeeswaxingPoetic@reddit
Same here - not famous myself, but related to and formerly in social circles with several famous people, particularly in my 20s. I guarantee they are here and enjoying interacting as "regular" people.
Medellia23@reddit
Your Mom’s a recognizable celebrity.
Rare_Background8891@reddit
Oh snap!
Medellia23@reddit
Thank you, I was proud of it.
puma_pantss@reddit
Well, people on my business Tiktok have told me I look like Russell Crowe. I don't know whether to take it as a compliment or fight them.
anOvenofWitches@reddit
Reddit is superior social media due to that anonymity 🤷♂️. Otherwise it’s just collecting friends and FOMO. I learn here. Things that actually impact my life.
Dame_Ingenue@reddit
A friend on Facebook was blasting Reddit a while ago, saying he gave it up, but then returned to see it was all just a-holes, etc. I’m like “you are clearly on the wrong subs then. Reddit brings me joy on a daily basis!”
Kazoo113@reddit
Reddit is what social media is supposed to be. Real people disseminated info, making cleaver jokes, or venting. No influencers anywhere, unless you stumble upon a porn sub.
boredlady819@reddit
This is me too! I ditched everything else, but Reddit is actually useful AND fun. I hope ai slop doesn’t make me mad enough to stop.

eatsleepdive@reddit
You have to stop lying awake wondering about Tony, wondering where he is, who he could be with, what he's thinking, if he's thinking of you, and whether he'll ever return one day.
Claranova00@reddit
He was a keynote speaker at a conference I went to 3 weeks ago. Paid speaking engagements and touring around to visit skate parks his foundation helps build.

Okay, this comment took me by surprise, and I busted out laughing, awakening the sleeping toddler beside me. He woke up, saw me laughing, and joined right in. We laughed together for a solid 3 minutes before he said “So funny, Mama,” then laid back down and went back to sleep. Thanks for your part in creating such a cute memory!
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
And you in turn made me laugh in happiness, waking my 14 year-old. 😅

I think it also depends on the definition of celebrity. Like is the drummer for Creed a celebrity? Is kimmy gibler?
Bo_Neher@reddit
speaking of full house. there’s a guy I work with whose wife was an extra on the show and the first time she met sagat on set he asked if she knew where to get coke then said he was joking. I love that about him
Spaceboy779@reddit
Narrator: He wasn't joking

I am not famous at all, and I am absolutely happy with being a nobody.
I have, however, worked on some very, very famous things that have earned the parent company ridiculous sums of money, the kind of which does not trickle down to us nobodies, and so has my husband. My husband currently works on something as the key guy on the project, and some people who are the audience for that project will likely recognise him because he gets interviewed for the BTS videos. And I'm not going to out him, because I have read the thirst comments on those videos 😐 damnit.
Anyway, I don't work in that industry anymore, and I am very happy about this.
