I'm as green as they come. Only in my second week driving solo and I'm always thankful for someone offering help or looking out. So far in my experience, I've met way more friendly and helpful truck drivers versus unkind and or rude ones.
AleTheMemeDaddy@reddit
Agreed! I met some incredible people when I was on the road, and I always promised to myself to be there for others like others were there for me. Regardless of me being in a truck or not.

I've come across her a few times. Always has a problem with shit. Like honey, they just don't want their shit hit, that place is pretty tight. Hell I just looked up from my phone one time when I noticed backwards motion. Wanted to start shit until she realized I too, have tits and a vagina.

ShortCurlies@reddit
I know some people like this woman. This is normal behavior to them, they grew up with everyone around them acting like this so what she is doing is nothing out of the ordinary for her upbringing. Everything is a conflict and a dispute, it's always been that way and it will always be that way. Fighting and arguing is normal basic human behavior to her. She actually has never learned any other way to behave. This is the only way she knows.
sbarrowski@reddit
Thanks for the laugh and I hope you donāt have to deal with her for a while.
Any_Ad_7269@reddit
It's and a vagina you say? Hmmm I'm intrigued.
Pizzasupreme00@reddit
What does this mean? I'm envisioning you beating her into submission with fat ogre tits and swallowing her into your vagina as a finishing move.
Riyeko@reddit
Sexist.
Long answer:: lots of women drivers out here think the moment a man touches the pavement to help it's because... "Aww the poor little woman driver driving that big ole truck I bet she can't back or drive so I HAVE to help her because she's a helpless woman and doesn't know anything"....
Odd-Cartographer555@reddit
Sheās one of the women who projects sexism in every situation. So when a driver gets out to help her sheās always going to assume they are doing it because she believes that they think women canāt drive trucks. When in reality they would have done it for any driver in the same situation.
Nero-Danteson@reddit
She's sexist.

TheLazies@reddit
I thought she was about to start singing. "Move bitch!"
mrockracing@reddit
Damn. She seems like she might have anger issues. Personally I like it when there's someone back there to make sure I don't lose my job and ruin their shit. That spot looks pretty large but clearly there's been trouble there before.
Ayde-Aitch-Dee@reddit
Love the self projection going on there, literally no one said "why because I'm a female you think I can't park?!" ..but her.
She's got issues alright. Not a normal reaction to have when people are genuinely trying to help or teach you.

LeadingInvestment654@reddit
I've met a lot of great truckers out on the road. What many people don't realize is how much this job takes a toll on your mental and physical health ā it's an aspect that's often underestimated by the general public

I'll gladly take help, but I'll still double-check my space. Had an older guy one night help guide me into the very last parking spot at a loves at 9:30pm. Flat bedders had creatively parked in such a way that most drivers passed the spot because there was barely room to get in and out. I was coming up on my 14, and greatly appreciated the help.

Outlaw11091@reddit
My uncle was a forty year trucker before me.
Right before I got me CDL he told me: "if you ever want to refuse help backing; hang up the keys. If you ever feel like you know everything there is to know about trucking; hang up the keys. If you were smart, you wouldn't have picked those keys up to begin with, so if you ever think you're smarter than everyone else....hang. up. the. keys."
ShortCurlies@reddit
I don't need help backing unless I ask for it. Depending on circumstances, usually like backing across a busy road, I will ask for it. I will say that I know for a fact I don't know everything about trucking, not by a long shot but backing, yeah, that's the least of my worries. I do know there are other truckers that are better than me at backing but not many. Here's a trick an old timer taught me. He saw me back in perfectly straight at a dock. He complemented me on how straight it was. Then he said too bad you had to pull up twice before you did it though.
I said so what, that's no big deal. And he said he never pulls up he backs it in straight the first go every time. I thought he was joking at the time but I started watching him, he wasn't lying. Every time I saw him back to a dock he put it in straight in one shot. This made me wonder if I could do that too so I made an effort to try. I learned that if I didn't rush and took my time I could get straighter and straighter just by paying attention and not being sloppy. I was slower backing but I had fewer need for corrections. Eventually in a rather short time I could put it in perfectly straight with one shot first try every time. Then later I could do it even faster and smoother because I was getting used to using my new backing technique and it was becoming second nature to me. My thinking was that if you can pull a trailer out of a dock in one move you can put it into a dock in one move. It's all geometry. Once you make an effort to learn to do it then it's like playing an instrument, you just get better and better with practice.
Next I took the yard jockey job spotting trailers and someone told me they knew a guy who could back doubles up to the dock. I taught myself how to do that by practicing out in the lot when work was slow at night until I could do it at an empty dock and eventually got to where I could back them up between trailers. We had an old linehaul driver come in one day and cut a rear pup up to the dock like it was just another day in between two 53's! Yeah I was good but I wasn't that good. I was good enough for what I needed I didn't see a need to fuss around with all of that. But my thinking is if he could do it then if I put my mind to it then I could do it too. Same with anything.
Outlaw11091@reddit
The point that all of people miss is that, in context of what you and I know: truckers don't just jump out of their truck to help someone, most of the time.
They sit in the truck and watch you struggle for a bit, then, maybe you'll have someone come out and help.
The point of my uncle's advice isn't about skill. It's about: if these lazy fuckers have bothered to get re-dressed and out of their trucks to help you IT'S USUALLY BECAUSE you're struggling. Refusing help when you've been backing for 45 minutes is the epitome of stubborn.
Obviously, this wouldn't apply to someone that backs in on one shot.
Kaidenshiba@reddit
Another driver told me when I started never to take help since no one is responsible for your truck but yourself. If your truck hits something, the only one who will be on the insurance will be yourself.
Outlaw11091@reddit
This is TRUE!, but silly.
The guy isn't trying to protect YOUR truck; he's trying to protect HIS. He has a vested interest in not getting stuck at that truck stop or having to wait for days while your insurance figures everything out.

Overall_Reputation83@reddit
Going to guess theres other shit in her life causing her to crash out, this is unreasonable.
CordovaFlawless@reddit
Came to say this. Perception vs perspective. The line that did it for me is when she earned her license on her own. She must have had a hard life, probably dependent on someone and they failed her and she struggled to keep afloat and getting her cdl was her ticket to freedom. God knows what other bullshit she dealing with in her life. Or even what's happened to her this day. She mentally broke. Prayers up for this one. She could use a break.
ShortCurlies@reddit
She was raised by people and family that are just like her. To her this behavior is normal, it's everyone else that acts weird because we all act like there's something wrong with her. She grew up around people that talk to and treat each other just like this everyday of her life so she thinks this is how she's supposed to act. It's normal, we're weird. I've seen it from people I know. I've seen the households where the families think having fist fights with each other every day is just another day. You will not convince her there is something wrong with her.
Mypathofhealing@reddit
She's not a kid.Ā Most people have their own struggles.Ā At some point, she needs to grow out of this and let her ego go.Ā Ā
At the end of the day, someone like her should not be a trucker.Ā She has no chill and can seriously get people hurt or worse.

Sancer319@reddit

asleepatthewheel72@reddit
She has bad insecurities and probably knows she is not a good driver or good at backing? So she is projecting and making a fool of herself instead of accepting help.
Expensive_Middle8271@reddit
That was my thought as well. She has some very deep-rooted issues with insecurity and resentment. This is much deeper than just not wanting help backing.
ShortCurlies@reddit
Like I said in an earlier post, I know people like this, it's normal for them to argue about everything. Its how they were raised, they grew up around people that acted just like this over the simplest things, it's all a learned behavior. I knew a girl who would have huge fights and the next minute act like nothing had happened. Never held a grudge, just liked to argue about everything all day long. Massive yelling fights, then say "What are you thinking about for dinner tonight?" It grew exhausting to me real fast but to her it was normal, no big deal. And she couldn't understand why it bothered me, she didn't see a problem with it. It's because that's how they were raised, just immersed in that behavior their whole life growing up. They don't see a problem with it. To them thats just what you do.
Jung_Wheats@reddit

The_Vass_76@reddit
Sorry for this but I disagree, slightly. Granted, Iām a guy so I canāt speak for your experience with other people offering help in this regard. As a driver out here I donāt mind an assist. Most times, in my experience, that little assist comes with respect and courtesy. Not shame and bigotry. To each their own but not everyone out here is like that. Maybe give them the benefit of the doubt or not, thatās up to you, but donāt assume everyone (especially guys) are all like that.
Junior-Credit2685@reddit
I donāt assume all guys are like that. But I have said āplease donāt help meā before on several occasions. Some listened and some didnāt. Some are really just trying to be nice. Sometimes guys donāt even realize they are being misogynistic. But also, I hate backing. And when you combine the quiet-rage reaction with also trying not to squish the dude who is actively pissing you offā¦.and not hit $300k worth of equipment,ā¦while remembering the time your trainer directed you RIGHT into the other trailer,ā¦by then?just forget about parking. As a woman, I hated it when people would try to come up and help me back when I was still learning. Partially from pride/ego, the other part is I would somehow lose all ability to recover basic backing knowledge. I would politely decline those who were nice enough to offer, and would wave off those who would just magically appear somewhere line a flailing tube arm man. Good news is I learned through practice and though I never hit anyone, I always back in slow enough that damage would not occur either way.

I vowed to never help anyone else out again.

Few-Chemical-5165@reddit
Back in the day, if a driver was having difficulty, you'd have a few drivers out to help guide the driver in. They didn't have to ask it was just held, and it was given to anybody rookie or veteran doesn't matter. If they are being disrespectful, that's different. But if they're simply helping, because it's tight, this is the perfect example of a selfish steering wheel holder who doesn't give a shit about anyone else. But themselves.
jennoford@reddit
I donāt bother helping. I just look and sayā moron idiot canāt park or back upā. Most think they know what they are doing and will flip when approached for assistance.

The one thing that I'll say is that I do get a little bothered when people try to guide my steering movements. Generally I ask folks to just let me know if I'm going to hit something. Talk me through a maneuver, don't try to turn my wheel while you're standing on the ground. š
dgregg2_@reddit
I made a bad decision my first month of driving local delivery. I realized I was about to hit a few cars parked on the street and cutting over a curb wasn't possible. Another trucker came up to watch me. I asked him for help. He laughed but no accidents. I didnt hit a single car. No issues. polarjunkie@reddit
While I agree and I've asked for help a few times in really tight spots I generally don't like unsolicited help. I can't tell you the number of times that someone jumped out of their truck to help and said the exact wrong thing. I've also had two drivers of my own back into something in a perfectly open spot because someone was helping them and telling them the wrong thing.
A lot of guys get 6 months of experience and want to be helpful but they still genuinely don't know what they're doing themselves. One time I had a guy yell at me the way this woman is yelling because I turned my wheel the opposite of what he said In his completely unsolicited help and then he was surprised that I backed in one shot.
I also really hate when people help but they don't know how to. If you're not going to walk with the mirrors line of sight, you aren't helping and if you're going to stand next to your driver's door and potentially get crushed you also aren't helping.
TripleTrucker@reddit
