A lot of intelligence comes from being alive long enough to know you’re wrong about the dumb shit you thought you knew about when you’re young. But yes, the 2 don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

First you're born and old and weak and have to have everything done for you. Then you work for 40-50 years as your body gets stronger and faster. Then your retirement is going to college and having the time of your life for 4 years. Then you go back to high-school and eventually gradeschool, spending those years as you get small and weak again playing with your friends.
Then your last years you go from a toddler, to a baby, to a newborn until you end up back in the womb. Then get those last 9 months on free cable until turning back into a sperm and dying as an orgasm.
They aren't stupid. Do you assholes not know the difference between idiots and children? Do you wonder around playgrounds like "hey idiot, the slide always goes to the same place!"

What?! When I was 6 I guessed that my friend's mom was 15 and his dad was 32 cause I thought that was 'old' 😅 I still can picture his mom laughing when I said that. How did you not think 45 was old???

When I was a kid and back to the future two was all the rage, I remember thinking it will be so cool when we get hoverboards in 2015 and then doing the math and realizing I’d be 34 by the time we got hoverboards and got really bummed out because I thought there’s no way in hell someone is old and ancient as a 34-year-old would wanna have fun on a hover board.
Really? I can't remember anyone around my age thinking anyone short of 40-50 being considered "old." "Too old to do ___" like skateboarding or something sure, but not 20 as a person being old. Maybe it's because I had uncles who were much older than me by 20ish years that were like older brothers.

When I was a kid I thought a person wasn’t old until maybe 70. I remember being maybe 5 and thinking the 14 year olds at my elementary school (before our county had its own middle school) were grown ups.
Mostly due to the fact that I had two older siblings who were 13 and 12 years older and babysat me a lot. But I never thought they were “old”.
Sure society has always been obsessed with youth but goddamn. Turning 20 now means getting old so you better bust out the Botox and fillers.
I was also stupid as a teen and thought anything I was not old enough to remember and any age I could not imagine being was old. Now, I think growing older is a privilege that too many of my friends and family never got to experience.
