I have a friend that was an engineer for BCA(I’m actually only about 45 minutes from their facility). You would be fucking shocked to find out that they OEM for some of our favorite companies.
BCA might be supplying blanks forged on their GFM, but that's definitely not what these barrels are. $40 for even a button-rifled, finished barrel through a third party means profits are probably razor-thin to nonexistent already, even in a shitty little town in the south like Sanford.
I mean, I’m not saying they OEM fucking LMT…but come on…BA OEM’s for a large amount of companies too and I’ve seen undersized gas ports, cocked barrel extensions, and literal barrels that had NO rifling from them.
You say they OEM for our favorite companies, meaning reliable, but can make a reliable gun for themselves. Also why not just say who they OEM for? You didnt sign an NDA... or did you?

I got a couple uppers from them cause they were cheap as piss. There are complaints, but accuracy isn't one of them. My 10.5 7.62 shoots 1.5moa with literally the cheapest bullshit ammo I can find if I'm on a bench. At their price point I don't think you'll get a more accurate barrel. They use extremely heavy bull barrels on almost everything, which means it's easier to cut an accurate barrel due to the minimal deflection.
Sure you can get better barrels or equivalent barrels that are drastically lighter, but you'll spend about twice what a bca barrel cost. If you want a dick around gun or something in a weird caliber just to try it they are great. If you want a solid accurate barrel you go with bad, Wilson, criterion or something of that nature.
Depends on what you mean by worth.
If all you want is function, probably.
If you want tight groups, good gassing, and an exceptionally long life, it's probably $40 down the drain.
Despite all the hate, I doubt in a blind taste test anyone would be able to tell the difference between this barrel and a more expensive mid-tier barrel.
It's 4150 and parkerized. If it's cut to spec and properly heat treated, you would absolutely not be able to tell the difference between this and a $120 barrel.
That's a pretty fucking big "if" though.
I’m actually curious too. Like… there are a lot of basement badasses that hate on budget stuff. BCA has a bad rap from everyone. I am genuinely curious if anyone outside experts could tell the difference in real world shooting.
I have one. They have bad QA, but the gas port was drilled properly on mine and the threading was concentric. I haven't tried to suppress it.
So, its gassed properly and it feeds. Is it accurate? He'll no. Its 3 to 5 MOA with 55 grain stuff thats usually 2 MOA in my other guns.
If youre mag dumping on rain barrels from 50 yards, its fine. I would not use them for hunting, and I haven't done anything "harsh" with mine.

That's why you just shoot your gun a few times at papseparation, before suppressing. No keyholes, and no shotgun pattern from jacket seperation, no problems. Probably.
No. If you get a BCA barrel that has no QC issues they’re fine. The first rifle I ever assembled used one of their heavy fluted barrels and shot 1 moa over 2k rounds. I swapped it for a faxon gunner because Reddit and it’s a 1.5-2 depending on the round.

Fair warning, my side-charging BCA upper was so inconsistent and prone to jamming when going into battery, even after lots of fitment work, that to date it’s the only upper I’ve ever truly given up on
