Where to buy an extra firm double mattress?
Posted by wilstouff@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 7 comments
Just recently moved into a new flat which came furnished, but the mattress is simply too soft and saggy for me. I prefer extra firm so I'm thinking of just buying a new mattress and plopping it on top of the existing mattress.
I've got my eye on this Super Firm Foam Mattress. Wondering if anyone has feedback on this specific model or has a suggestion on something similar that won't break the bank (say under £500 for a double)?I'm used to sleeping on this Asian brand called Sea Horse Healthy Mattress which is pretty much rock hard so anything with a similar level of firmness would be good.

I have my eye on the same one. Did you buy it? How is it?

Hey yes I did and no complaints at all. It's quite firm and I'm definitely happy with it.

Are you talking about the topper?

If you want proper extra firm without being crazy expensive, definitely check out Winstons Beds. They do a traditional spring mattress that feels like sleeping on a slab, in the best way possible.

Have you thought about a memory foam topper for putting on the mattress? We like a firm mattress and this works for us. We got an Ikea VESTERÖY firm mattress for another bed, and it's excellent too, and well under your budget.

I was looking into toppers too, but I feel like they would be too thin that they would just take the shape of the dips in the mattress underneath. Ill take a look at the IKEA option though, thanks!
