Looking for good hot sauce available in the UK? Franks redhot is my favourite at the moment.

Even if it's available online. Preferably not super expensive but I'd consider it if it's really worth trying.
Natural-Cat-9869@reddit
Sauce Shop are good and have a wide choice at decent value. They sell direct via their website.
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I've had a look but it's so hard to choose!
LilacRose32@reddit
Got someone a gift box from here and they all went down well
crumpets289@reddit
The buffalo hot sauce is a great starting point. Also highly recommend the truffalo
asphytotalxtc@reddit
The buffalo hot sauce is BEAUTIFUL! Not as hot as I personally go for usually, but that flavour is just perfect š
calm_as_you_like@reddit
The honey sriracha & burnt pineapple ones are really good. I don't think I've had a bad one from them tbh.
greens1117@reddit
They do end-of-the-month deals like that are good I think you get about 23 items for Ā£42, that's what I got lol š
arabidopsis@reddit
Yes! Easily the best at the moment!
Bastard sauce also good
usernamepusername@reddit
Cholula Chipotle is my go to, I get through multiple bottles a month.
Iām in no doubt that there will probably be a better one out there but Iām yet to find one that works with almost anything like that does.
cinejam@reddit
It tastes a bit like chemicals to me.
HelixClipper@reddit
Tabasco chipotle is better, very simpler to cholula but a bit richer imo, but hard to find and the bottle is much smaller
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I've only tried the normal Cholula, it's pretty good. Maybe a bit too mild. I'll need to see if I can find other varieties.
Scary-Zucchini-1750@reddit
Is Frank's not even more mild than Cholula?
pajamakitten@reddit
It is not the hottest sauce veer but the flavour is superb. It is not too acidic like a lot of hot sauces are.
ddbbaarrtt@reddit
Their garlic hot sauce is incredible
howtomakeacake@reddit
To all the cholula lovers...you should try Tapatio if you haven't already!
sjcuthbertson@reddit
Preach! Came here to recommend TapatĆo. I spent a few years living in SoCal and all the good Mexican places had TapatĆo on the tables automatically (as we'd have salt and pepper here).
The less good Mexican restaurants had Cholula on the table.
Buzzy92@reddit
Get yourself one of these bad boys. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08LDB3S8B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
usernamepusername@reddit
I like the novelty little wooden screw cap and the fight to get enough sauce out.
SnooMacarons9618@reddit
Cholula Lime is lovely. Not particularly hot, but the extra citrus tang really adds to it. Though I generally prefer the smokiness of Chipotle, rotating a bottle of lime in every so often is a nice change.
usernamepusername@reddit
Think iād struggle with a less spicy one now, I donāt really have sauce on anything if it doesnāt add spiciness. The smokiness is the best bit, Iāve bought in chipotle chilli flakes now because I find normal ones a bit dull.
cinejam@reddit
Unfortunately sainsburys discontinued this bad boy.
Round_Engineer8047@reddit
I really like the Flying Goose Brand sriracha sauce, especially the kimchi version. The milder end of spicy suits me so it depends on how much heat you crave.
Deruji@reddit
Flying goose isnāt fermented lots of additives, give the Tabasco brand sriracha a try
Round_Engineer8047@reddit
I will if I can find it. I haven't seen that variety of Tabasco.
I tend to go with what I can afford and I concentrate my alotted finances on Lidl, Aldi, Poundland, Home Bargains and B&M, with the occasional treat from more salubrious marketplaces. Consideration of additives tends to be far from the forefront of my mind when shopping. I realise that this isn't ideal.
Some interesing items turn up in the cheapo emporia so I might get lucky.
HelixClipper@reddit
Recently aldi were doing their sriracha in their specials food aisle. It is very decent. It's not the same bottle small glass bottle as regular tabasco it's a bigger squeezey bottle.
Anyway they were also doing tabasco salsa picante again bigger squeezy bottle, it is SO good
Round_Engineer8047@reddit
Sounds tantalising! I'll look for some.

mrhankman@reddit
This stuff is LEGIT. If you've not had them yet, the black and blue bottles are excellent.
Pantomimehorse1981@reddit
I had the black recently I havenāt had the blue is that the seafood one ? Seemed a bit weird ? The black was good but I think overall the og is the best all rounder
mrhankman@reddit
Yellow is the best for sure.
Blue seems to be hotter and a little more citrusy.
Black is hotttttt. Not sure if it is hotter than blue?

KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
Encona is pretty good too. If I'm having sweet chilli sauce I like to mix is 50/50 with encona. Really good
BeeFeeLog@reddit
Why would anyone need to look any further? It's Encona. Always has been, always will be.
SnooMacarons9618@reddit
back in the 80's we had bottles of Encona. Today if we want a real kick we have a bottle of Encona. It's reliable stuff.
BeeFeeLog@reddit
Yep, it's the OG.
EroticFalconry@reddit
Yeah Frankās is a good alternative to tabasco, people have mentioned Cholula which is thicker and great with mexican food. Iām currently obsessed with Enconaās Carolina Reaper sauce, itās got a real kick to it! But the flavour is also very rich and fruity.

Encona

Do you want a spicy hot sauce, or something more like Frank's which I'd say is more acidic and tangy. Wanna try new flavours, or close to what you're familiar with?
Pitiful_Oven_3425@reddit
I've been after a franks replacement for ages, I love the vinegar tang of franks but need to go up a stage or two in heat
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I think I like the more acidic tangy ones. I'd love a good suggestion along those lines, but I'd also like to try other ones but I don't know what to pick!

Frank's have a variant Red Hot fire roasted jalapeno sauce, it's a little thicker and hotter than their standard Red Hot. M&S have a naga chilli sauce, which is good but nowhere near as hot as they make out.
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I just tried that green jalapeno franks last week. I actually really liked it and I think it would be amazing on tacos etc. Nice depth of flavour
It's funny though because I actually thought that one was significantly less spicy than the redhot
AlrightLove75@reddit
Aldi (of all places) have a jalapeno and lime sauce in their summer range that is good. It's not super hot but has the acidity.

Weymouth 51 are a Dorset brand that do some great hot sauces at a reasonable price (the bottles are quite large).
Candy_Lawn@reddit
Frank's js shit. try Encona West Indian hot pepper sauce. or Cholula, or even good ol Tabasco.
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I've tried all of those and they're all in my cupboard. I like Frank's the best š¤·āāļø
Candy_Lawn@reddit
if you prefer Frank's then you dont like hot sauce you like ketchup.
pajamakitten@reddit
Look out. We have a badass over here.
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
The first ingredient of ketchup isn't cayenne pepper
Candy_Lawn@reddit
65% is water, sugar, salt and garlic...guess what else has that?
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
Those ingredients are completely in the wrong order, and it's missing the distilled vinegar after the chillies (like Tabasco)
Also never heard of ketchup without tomatoes.
But anyway, it's more the statement "you don't like hot sauce". Well I do š¤·āāļø

Ginger Beerd is a good local one to me, small producer. All the types are good, a solid Habanero, a Jalapeno one, Buffalo etc. I like a whole range and it is quite a rabbit hole, TK Maxx can have some unusual ones as supermarkets tend to only have basic stuff. These days a lot of farmers or local markets tend to have a hot sauce stand, they are everywhere.

Incredibly difficult to find good hot sauce recently because all the supermarkets just stock Nandos and think that's good enough. I do not like it.
KhajiitPaw@reddit (OP)
I agree, Nando's sauce is overrated and it's a bit annoying taking up so much shelf space when all the sauces taste pretty much the same.
Moreso when you don't have a big supermarket close.
FoxesFan91@reddit
I hadn't had nandos sauce from the supermarket for a long time (possibly ever?) and picked up a bottle of medium hot out of curiosity the other week.
I'm not a complete spice monster but I feel like I have a slightly above-average tolerance and whilst the medium hot didn't exactly blow my head off, it was definitely spicier than I remember it/expected it to be
