Jesus fucking Christ it's $150K
West_Independent2551@reddit
To be fair the Cayenne Turbo S was 89k before options in 2003. That's $160k in today's inflated dollars.
Kindly-Emergency-514@reddit
True, but that's a Turbo S. This isn't even on the level of the GTS, and it approaches that price. I really don't even want to think about what the Turbo/Turbo GT cost.
West_Independent2551@reddit
You make a valid point about this not being a turbo S, but you're losing me at the end there. Isn't the car we're talking about literally a GTS?
Kindly-Emergency-514@reddit
I guess I'm blind. Oops.
Blaze4G@reddit
In 2014 a fully loaded GTS was around 140k so not far off lol
fuxq@reddit
Well it’s a Porsche
Kindly-Emergency-514@reddit
Idc what anyone says, but this is not a $150,000 vehicle. Sure, it's a Porsche, but if you're buying new, the X5 M60(?) makes a lot more sense.
Terryknowsbest@reddit
Why do all modern Porsche front ends look incomplete? Especially the taycan and cayenne
DoktorStrangelove@reddit
The late 2010s were peak aesthetic for Porsche SUVs, they're fucking up right now and need to sort their shit out, there's too much Audi influence in the Cayenne design team lately it seems
boyinahouse@reddit
The S should have always had a V8.
DoktorStrangelove@reddit
Meh, I just bought a used 2018 S and it has plenty of power. It also has a bit better rep for reliability than the V8 version and is slightly less of a gas hog. It also costs a lot less up front than the V8. The actual crime is that Porsche ever offered trim levels with the NA VR6 in them.
BrendanKwapis@reddit
This article is about the GTS
Multifaceted-Simp@reddit
V8 has started to cost like 40k more than a complicated 4 cylinder in many luxury brands
strongmanass@reddit
The main reason for any brand to keep offering a V8 engine is that enthusiasts and luxury buyers value mostly the status of 8 cylinders...yeah sound and rumble blah blah but most people buy it because it offers some exclusivity. And in that case brands may as well charge status symbol prices.
InvasionOfScipio@reddit
Gotta keep those profit margins fat.
_galaga_@reddit
Porsches tend to cost 40k more than other brands regardless of motor.
Multifaceted-Simp@reddit
An 8 cylinder Porsche is much more expensive than a regular 6 Porsche. A v8 defender is 50k more than a 4 cylinder defender
_galaga_@reddit
I get ya (I own a V8 Porsche). I was just joking about the Porsche tax in general.
_galaga_@reddit
I’m sure it’s a beast. Funny that the stop/start still sucks as bad as on mine. It’s intrusive at the wrong times like pulling up to a yield when you need to step on it again immediately.
From the prior videos I’ve seen of the V8 S this gen S/GTS sounds better than my 958 which means they got the message it was too quiet, as well.
thiskillstheredditor@reddit
Same on my 718. It’s a very aggressive auto-stop. But easily fixed by always driving in sport mode.
DracoDragonite@reddit
I program every new cayenne’s start/stop off to the favorite button on the steering wheel I get inside lol
Barely_stupid@reddit
Those acceleration numbers and even the trap speed confuse me.
SVTraptor99@reddit
The 12.1 is pretty quick for a suv
SnikySquirrel@reddit
Actually surprisingly normal numbers. I was kinda expecting something ludicrously quick. Definitely still making more than 493 hp though
turb0_encapsulator@reddit
It needs to be heavier and more powerful and less efficient.
