Wow. I know I shouldn't be shocked but she's fully sold out

Tulsi's testimony contridicted Trump's war claims but after taking Trump's heat for a week, folded last night and pulled a Colin Powell. Changing her tune from her March testimony and now claiming Iran is weeks away from a nuke. Shameless.

You can thank the Mossad for the delay.
jtfff@reddit
And you can thank Trump for the acceleration. We wouldn’t be in this fabricated situation if he didn’t foolishly pull out of JCPOA in 2018.
Moonbeam_86@reddit
Well, it’s not that simple. Trump “pulling out” did not end the deal. It still stood with China, France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom.
The “deal,” however, was being ignored by Iran. You could blame that on whoever you want, I suppose.
jtfff@reddit
The deal was only ignored by Iran once the US pulled out and reinstated sanctions. The primary reason why Iran initially took to deal was to relieve US sanctions, and guess what? The deal worked. The IAEA regularly inspected nuclear facilities and kept track of Iran’s nuclear stockpile making sure it was compliant.
In 2013, prior to the deal, Iran had 11,000 kgs of 3.5% enriched Uranium and 3,500 kgs of 20% enriched uranium. In 2018, when Trump pulled out of the deal, they only had 300 kgs of 3.5% enriched uranium. Even if further enriched, that is nowhere near enough to produce even one nuclear warhead.
Moonbeam_86@reddit
True. But then Biden reinstated the deal.
Yet Iran's worst violations of the deal came post-Biden.
So again, it's not a clear line from one thing to another, but yes, it's logical to assume the Trump administration's actions contributed to the deal's breakdown.
jtfff@reddit
Pretty sure they didn’t reinstate the plan. Negotiations were in action but ultimately fell through.

jtfff@reddit
That’s the biggest bullshit I’ve ever heard. Iran has been a few months away from nuclear weapons for the last 20 years, but their nuclear program wasn’t ever for weapons. In fact, there’s been a fatwa in place legally forbidding nuclear weapons for the last 30 years.
Some sites were left completely unaffected in these attacks, and if Iran did finally decide to start developing nuclear weapons, it would be because of Trump’s decisions. And even worse than developing their own nuclear weapons, Russia is prepared to give them some of their own.

Going to get downvoted for this, but truth is truth:
Every neocon needs a Colin Powell to dupe the non-neocons into regime change war.

thetennisgod@reddit
You either get in line w/Trump or get out of the way. Especially on a topic like this. Her original testimony was still very helpful and had a positive affect. The only time ppl actually can fully keep their principles are if they're unemployed.
DaraParsavand@reddit
Agreed. So resign like Ann Wright did and make a huge stink. Anything less and I know all that stuff against regime change wars was a bunch of BS. I gave up on Tulsi in 2020. But even I didn’t think she’d be this pathetic.
SuitsOverSwag@reddit
I disagree with this. Her presence actually adds undeserved legitimacy to what Trump is trying to do here, just like how Colin Powell added it to George Bush.
If we are going to get neocon hackery, make Trump have to appoint a neocon so we can avoid subterfuge.
Tulsi should have resigned, gotten out of the way, and been a whistleblower. Instead, she full-on sold out.
thetennisgod@reddit
She's spent her whole adult life arguing against regime change wars in the middle east. I highly doubt she's a sellout b/c of that and she's still far from being a favorite of those she'd sell out to. She just has more influence being in the room w/Trump rather than on the outside. All the news networks undermine Tulsi regularly and even Fox would just give her one interview and afterwards she's irrelevant. She'd be a story for a day maybe 2. A hero to outsiders but that's not worth much right now. She needs to be in the room the next few weeks as it really is all up to Trump at this point.
Tiny_Definition6342@reddit
The only thing shameless here is that you're too dedicated to supporting ignorance to comprehend that she's right.

Because she had the balls to say some real shit, and when that didn’t work she sold out and pivoted to what does work. It’s pretty awful
plsobeytrafficlights@reddit
and honestly, i think she went off her meds first, because she is just filled with poor calls. she went totally off the rails over the years.
IVcrushonYou@reddit
Thank you for clarifying, Tulsi. Unfortunately some people are so consumed by TDS that your words are falling on deaf ears.
Grundelwald@reddit
Dude, shut up about "TDS", that has nothing to do with it.. Regime changing Iran has been pressed by Netanyahu and the neocons for decades, and a large swath of us have always been opposed to that, regardless of Trump. Just because he's the fool who finally started the war doesn't make this personally against him when we oppose the move
plsobeytrafficlights@reddit
you didnt even pay attention to the post.

Please quote where this new clarification existed in her March testimony. I just re-watched the full thing. I'll give you the deed to my house if you find the spot in her March testimony where Tulsi said Iran is capable of acquiring a nuclear weapon within "weeks or months."

jstohler@reddit
Nah. You have to first have principles in order to sell out.
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
Nope. There is a not so subtle difference between what she said and what the press is inferring.
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
Iran is not building a weapon now, but its enrichment activities pose a potential threat, as it could produce a nuclear weapon "within weeks to months" if it decides to do so.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
I just went back and re-watched her whole 15 minute testimony from March. You actually had me second guess my memory for a second but no, she never once mentioned Iran being "weeks or months" away from acquiring a nuclear bomb. You put that in quotes and you lied. She never utters that phrase in her entire testimony. Why are you so quote to run defense for liars and war mongers? Now I want to check your comment history cause youre sus af lol
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
You put that in quotes and you lied.
??
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
She never once made any reference to weeks and months dude. Never. Why are you quoting that?
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
Sorry to confuse you with my use of quotes. I did not, and didnt mean to attribute that quote to tulsi. I was referring to the overall issue of what Iran's readiness to be a nuclear power is.
I dont think there is much question that their previous rocket weapon work has stopped in 2003.
I also don't think there is much question that their enrichment program has advanced to a point that if they restarted their weapon production that they would be a nuclear power.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
Hey maybe it was a misunderstanding. You seem like a decent person. But if you re-watch her March testimony, she's clearly the one lying and misrepresenting her testimony in this tweet from yesterday, not the media. I just watched it again from a straight feed from Congress without any media filter and it seems unambiguous to me what she said.
I give her credit that on her Tweet she includes the only portion of her whole 15 minute Senate testimony that references Iran which is like 1:48. What's brazen to me is she makes a statement now parroting Trump's claims about Iran being weeks or months from a nuke in the Tweet but adds the clip of the Iran portion of her March testimony which completely contradicts her current claim.
If I'm being absolutely fair and paraphrase what she said about Iran it was: Iran has strong missile capabilities (obviously), Iran and its Supreme Leader haven't sought a nuclear weapon. But Iran does have stocks of enriched uranium.
Seems to me that it paints a picture of Iran not being an immediate dire threat to America or Israel.
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
I dont really care about tulsi's reputation. I voted for her when she ran in the primary and I liked the chance of her cleaning up intelligence problems as dni.
I am anti-US press. I am suspect of them in every story.
All that said, if we know that Iran was further in uranium enrichment than they should be under agreements laid down in the npa (which they have benefitted from having signed the npa), we shouldn't be laid back about the threat just because their method of delivering that uranium in a bomb or a missile hasn't been perceptivly advanced.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
So why didn't we go after Iran in March? See how the sequence of events don't add up? It wasn't until Bibi got Trump in line with his dire claims--the same ones hes been making for 30 years, thenTrump attacked Tusli for contradicting those claims that she basically went back and parroted the new Israeli line saying she's practically said this all along.
I hear you on the press having an agenda. Fortunately we can watch Congress with a direct feed and no spin added.
So if you truly believe Iran can throw together a nuke in a matter of weeks, do you believe that makes them more of a threat with a nuke than North Korea. And if so, what do you propose we do about it?
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
Yes. I watched cspan a lot. Not much better than the press. Worse in a lot of cases.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
The direct feed? How? Its just a video feed with no commentary?
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
I'm saying that it's not like political rhetoric is much better than media bias.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
Sure but an educated person should be able to think critically and analyze what people are actually saying between the lines.
I mean if listening directly to our leaders themselves is not much better than the filter of the press, I don't know how you propose a populace get properly informed.
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
Yes. I just never use the congress or newspaper as primary sources to describe what's going on in our world.
The older I get the more I have seen instances of what congress people and newspaper spout the exact opposite of what reality is.
This tulsi issue is certainly one of them.
KyleButtersy2k@reddit
I think Iran is more of a threat to our allies especially Israel, with nuke ready uranium, than NKo is to us or any allies.
I dont know. I guess just wait and see if Iran stands down.
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
If Iran stands down do we just trust it that it has no weapons grade uranium or do we do the whole inspection thing again? They passed that before as well. Seems to me Trump and Netanyahu are seeking regime change

CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
Wait are you saying Tulsi has been consistent and the press and my ears heard her wrong?
Where did she previously say this in her March testimony? The actual quote
IVcrushonYou@reddit
This.
BoniceMarquiFace@reddit
Nothing she's saying is wrong or inconsistent
Iran has the capability to build a weapon pretty quickly. They choose not to, because of a 2003 decision by the supreme leader. Tulsi cited that in her prior analysis
If the Supreme leader got killed and they had a junta take over, they could be nuclear very quickly
CleverNombre@reddit (OP)
So you're saying Israel's actions like attacking Iran or killing its Supreme Leader could cause Iran to seek a nuke they otherwise wouldn't have sought?
stone122112@reddit
Finally a decent argument.
BoniceMarquiFace@reddit
Correct.
If you look at Tulsis prior statement she specifically talks about him and the program suspension in 2003.
It is possible for a country with civilian nuclear power to transition to nuclear weapons very quickly. That is how Israel itself got weapons, and why Israel continues to lie with "ambiguity".

I agree Kamala was a terrible candidate but by 2024 Tusli had already did the turncoat MAGA spin move so no Dem would touch her. That's the other thing, Tulsi literally went from a Berniecrat to a MAGA Republican in 2 years. How can you trust someone like that? Still I held out the faith on her anti-war credentials even though I knew she was super inconsistent--especially on Israel. But this does it man. She was so strong on being against a war with Iran during Trump's first term when the intel wasn't much different--publicly. Seems pretty obvious to me she is someone with no credibility left but I can understand how hard it is to come to terms with that when you genuinely believe and like someone
