Who's seen those first hand accounts of US citizens with Hispanic last names being purged by the system? I've seen one video but also read a handful of accounts. Thoughts? My brother says he saw leftists experiencing the same.
MostNet6719@reddit
Define “purged” Like they wake up on Tuesday and their driver’s license is cancelled, they’ve been declared dead, what???

Not in my area that I’ve heard. Wouldn’t be surprised since several Hispanic names are listed in the top ten most common names in the US.

Reports of laundry mats full of men. Two.
Lots of black clothes on the racks of the local blue big box... interesting considering it's summer. Black, blue, white, and red. And Texan flags hung above US flags.

Sorry, don't follow first paragraph
boomrostad@reddit
There were two laundry mats full of men doing laundry on a Sunday afternoon.

tl;dr The Northern Hemisphere might have an unusually cold upcoming Winter due to a heating anomaly in the Southern Polar atmosphere right now during their Winter. So maybe make sure you have plant blankets for your tenderest yard plants and buy now when they should be on sale if you need more, just in case.

Anything to consider as a side kit next to a black out bag besides a full medical? Suppose one of those survival buckets might help, but I'm just thinking of ideas for the next power outage during heavy snow/extreme heat days.
Pontiacsentinel@reddit
I have power banks, solar panel to charge them, USB rechargeable fan, nonelectric heat sources, same for hot water, freezer, cooking.

This study has been getting passed around work. Long term affects of COVID are really beginning to show. I imagine it won't be long before insurance companies begin pricing/working this into their estimates for future care. Wearing an N95 in public, avoiding crowds, etc. has really paid off over last five years.
Reasonable_Carry9191@reddit
This is a preprint article that has not been validated or peer reviewed. It doesn’t really hold any water yet technically speaking. Not to say it may not be a real issue, it should just be taken with a large grain of salt.

u/AntiSonOfBitchamajig this is still not pinned at the top for me, just FYi, maybe I missed a change.
Ordered a small game from Canada that was marked as delivered today, 2 weeks later and it was returned to sender in Ontario. Turns out they were wholesale rejecting 25% of items they believed manufactured in China.

Trying to pin to the top of the sub? Main page?
Pontiacsentinel@reddit
On main page I have Fear Index and monthly prepping theory as the two pinned threads at the top. This weekly thread used to have one of those slots.
AntiSonOfBitchamajig@reddit (OP)
I don't even see your posting on it.
Pontiacsentinel@reddit
Did you see THESE comments on the thread or because I @you?
AntiSonOfBitchamajig@reddit (OP)
Ohh/// the everything else post, I thought you were talking about the mail thing. ... yeah thats a problem! Sorry I have a lot going on right now, I missed it.
Pontiacsentinel@reddit
It's hot, man, no one can process stuff well including me. Stay cool.

The canada post thing is an interesting happening...
Also yeah... lotsa dumb regarding that.

Some dude on the ups sub said he has been getting an influx for Anchorage Alaska parcels....a lot of federal employees in Anchorage. Maybe more people on assignment for future Arctic operations?
zuneza@reddit
There are some wildfires brewing in Alaska right now that could be drawing a federal response

I wonder if a lot of people do ordering now because they know they can get it easier due to weather and of course shopping to save money from inflation. I would think a lot of supplies would come in when the weather was the best, the summer.

This is anecdote and not official intel, but I have Canadian Pacific freight train tracks that run through my Minnesota backyard. I work from home most days and we're at a crossing so the trains sound their horn when they pass and it's hard to miss. In the past we got 4 to 6 trains through here per day, hauling grain, various liquids/oil, lumber, scrap, and consumer goods. It's been getting quieter and quieter over the past month, and now we're closer to one train per day, maybe two.

I went to my usual prep store on Friday (DT) and it’s probably been about a month or so since I have gotten extra preps. I was informed they are upping their prices for the second time this year, which was a bit disappointing.
I did notice they have the gallon jugs of water back in stock. For the last 6-9 months or so they haven’t really had much of that. So when I get paid again this week I’m gonna go back, get some gallon jugs.
I spent more than what I normally spend, I try to keep it $20/$25 but wound up spending $55 because I did buy extra items since they informed me of the price increase this month! I mainly got house needs, some cleaning items, some more lanterns and batteries, a few extra items for the cats.
They said it will affect their plastics, all the little storage bins, cleaning supplies and cleaning tools and also some food items as well I believe.
felixblacke@reddit
Just curious but why not get larger capacity water containers and just fill them at home for free?
Elegant-Procedure-74@reddit
That is something we really would like to do, we just don’t really know where to start with that honestly. I don’t know what types of containers to get or use, tbh haven’t done a whole lot of research into it but wanting to do that soon since we started our first garden too. I need to research standing water / mosquitoes and such things with the containers, that’s a big worry of mine. I just haven’t really put in the time to research it.
We are also on well water, so I like having the gallon jugs on hand for lots of purposes. We have had to restart the well with gallons of jugs before after a real bad storm / power out. It wasn’t fun but thankfully we had it on hand to do so.
We also use the gallon jug to drink from, then we refill it and label it as “emergency water” that way we know it’s not for drinking, it’s for using to restart the well if we ever need to again. So it’s definitely not a single time use for us since we reuse the jugs!
felixblacke@reddit
I personally use scepter containers. If you can snag a deal on eBay they aren't too cost prohibitive. The main thing is rotating the water out. You can put a very small amount of bleach to extend the life.
I'd think it would just be way more cost effective to do it that way. Buying the container once being the upfront cost that removes the need to buy the gallons. Plus then you aren't fighting people for gallon jugs of water at the store if you forgot to stock up and there's a shortage.
Elegant-Procedure-74@reddit
Thank you!
I really appreciate the help. I will look into scepter containers and costs.
Like I said I haven’t done much research but it’s on our list to do especially having started the garden. Thankfully it’s been so rainy so we don’t have to water much since the rain is doing it all for us right now. But then I’m thinking it would be nice to have outdoor barrels to collect the rain for the garden in the future.

This isn't pinned to the top for me now, seems like it got unpinned.

This may just be paranoia, but I just received an email from Amazon on a new boo from the department of the army https://a.co/d/eYblfkA Read the description of the book, and then saw the publication date. Went back to the white house proclamations and double checked my memory. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/06/department-of-defense-security-for-the-protection-of-department-of-homeland-security-functions/ Both are same date. Something tells me los angeles is not done by a long shot, nor is it going to stop there

They really are masks off about it all and yet some will go full surprised Pikachu when it happens.

The U.S. military swears to defend the Constitution. If that no longer guides them, they cease to serve lawfully and become an occupying force. In such cases, it’s the people’s duty—through the Second Amendment—to defend their liberties, or risk surrendering their freedom. Time is running out.
felixblacke@reddit
That's all well and good in theory but I wonder what the skew is on 2A folk's support on the US military enforcing the current admins agenda.
Key_Secretary_3948@reddit
I just felt this was too much of a 'coincidence' not to at least give some kind of a heads up
melympia@reddit
Did I read this wrong, or is it basically a "how to use the military to turn the US into a dictatorship"?
Fuuuuuck!

Doesn’t the Iran bombing count as a new war?
Pleasant-Trifle-4145@reddit
Yes but how it looks remains to be seen. I think it will be a war of trading missiles for a very long time.
