Truckers attitudes

Right now I am working for amazons transportation team but I got my CDL a few months ago and now drive over the road a few times a week and the things I witness in yards by 3P drivers is atrocious. From cutting people off to driving way to fast in the yard. My question is what gives?

Amazon hires dogshit third party independent contractors then pushes them to the extreme, beating them with the stick of threaening to take away their contract. Far and above some of the worst truck drivers on the road. But then again it's Amazon. Profit over safety every time.

Anything Amazon touches seems horrible, drivers (Amazon trailer pullers) do unsafe things like randomly stop on the roadside over and over, freight carriers set unfair timelines. The final delivery people are often mad at their own jobs, the vans are ugly, one they shipped me damaged stuff, etc Amazon mainly just adds pressure to an already pressurized industry in my opinion

Idk. At my site we are told to stress safety at all costs. Driving in the yard I go slow and steady. Do everything correctly and so does my team. I can’t speak for other sites. Also on the road when I drive we are only allowed to go the speed limit and are monitored by cameras so we cannot do unsafe maneuvers or we get written up or fired. But there are third party contractors who have Amazon branded trucks and they are not monitored as closely I don’t think. As for ordering products everything I’ve ever ordered has been in working condition when delivered. Sorry that your experience has been different.

A 5 mph yard speed limit in a huge yard is kinda slow.

Agreed. I even go 8-10 mph and that still seems slow but it’s just for a few minutes. People need patience.
