ULPT Tire spikes are very cheap, and easy to drop with out drawing attention.

Anyone looking to hassle ICE these can be dropped when they are parked, or dealing with other protesters, with out drawing attention.
BMatski@reddit
Thank you. I plan to do this to the protestors when they park.

Right, but what happens when they leave? Does somebody go around and pick up all the area denial devices?

Actually yes. It’s a while part of the organization.

Caltrops, also known as tire deflation devices, are illegal in several US states. These include New Jersey, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio, Rhode Island, Virginia, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, West Virginia, and Montana. Additionally, Texas law classifies them as illegal weapons, with possession, manufacture, transport, repair, or sale being a felony.
California requires a permit (of course) or possess them.
Just an fyi if you are going to do this.
BallisticHabit@reddit
Til welding a couple of bent nails together is a felony in Texas.
They are stupid easy to make, too.
Carrying busted spark plug ceramic is likely a crime in some locations.....ninja rocks.
BigEnd3@reddit
Ha. Texas listing illegal weapons.
Amethyst-Twilight@reddit

In my town, there have been complaints about nails being scattered on the road for the past 3-4 years. They finally caught somebody and it turns out that I used to work with the guy a bunch of years ago.
Seems like it might have been domestic issues…and he went kinda nuts, scattering screws on/near where his ex lives.
Phoenix_Rising42069@reddit
Absolutely wild that caltrops are more heavily regulated than guns
rdking647@reddit
several in a pocket. hole in th epocket to slowly drop them out of yoru pants legs as you walk by an ice car. almost impossible to prove since even a survelliance camera wont have teh resolution to see them drop on the ground

s1ckopsycho@reddit
whatsbobgonnado@reddit
pocket trops!🫱😎🫴✳️✳️✳️
Roadstar01@reddit
A caltrop small enough to fit in your pocket would be pretty ineffective.
Burntoutn3rd@reddit
But they absolutely will see nothing on the ground before you walk by, and objects there after. Are you dumb? Lol
Interesting-Role-712@reddit
Lmfao from ct and I've been driving around with them in my truck for 4 years. Better to have em and not need them, than need them and not have them.
DavidGabrielMusic@reddit
yet I guarantee you, not a single one of you would have the guts to do this or use them. Reddit is just basement dwelling keyboard warriors hiding behind a screen pretending to be tough. its so hilarious
TheIronSoldier2@reddit
They most likely have run-flat tires. And not the shit ones that the consumers can get which limit you to 50 miles at 50mph.
You can't go forever, but you can sure as hell go faster and longer than that
Sinchem@reddit
Op wants to harm people enforcing the law.
ConundrumMachine@reddit
I hear there are 3D printing models for hollow caltrops that'll let the air out quickly.
cps42@reddit
Seems to me that a caltrop inside a soda can or thin water bottle wouldn't be as obvious when in ones backpack or on the street, but would function just as well when run over. I wonder if the 3D design could be adapted.
ConundrumMachine@reddit
Definitely an interesting thought experiment. I imagine wedgeing them under the tire of a parked vehicle would make them difficult to spot before driving away. Especially if they're black. Conversely, a bunch of brightly coloured ones strewn across a street would be a visible barrier for vehicles and horseys. I bet we'll see them in action over the next few months. Spicy times.

CO420Tech@reddit
Mythbusters showed how to make really good ones. They used metal tubing with little bent segments welded together so that the spikes didn't just stick in the tires but actively flattened them by letting the air out. When they made them out of solid metal, they weren't all the effective because a lot of them would just imbed themselves in the tire and only cause a very slow leak.
SleepyLakeBear@reddit
Were they testing them at high speed or just casually driving over at idle speed? Just curious. Any caltrop tire puncture at higher speeds could potentially cause a blowout.
CO420Tech@reddit
I think around 45mph? They were simulating a car dropping them like James Bond while driving corners and stuff. They wanted to see if dropping the caltrops in front of a car chasing you would work. So it wasn't fast, but they didn't hit them at parking lot speeds either.
Jesta23@reddit (OP)
Good point. I’ve never actually used these.
CO420Tech@reddit
At least based on the episode, solid ones don't perform too well. Might still be effective though. Since you're not testing a spy myth and trying to stop a car chasing you dead in its tracks, I bet the solid ones work fine - the tires just won't go flat in 30 seconds. That might actually be advantageous in this case because if the first two vehicles pulling out went flat instantly, they might have time to alert the others.
IsoAgent@reddit
I mean, when they leave their car and swarm a guy, there's nobody in their car. You could just circle around it like you're just filming the car, you can discreetly dropping stuff. As long as you don't make it look obvious, they aren't going to suspect you of anything.
ReplacementReady394@reddit
Or just stab the tires
Jesta23@reddit (OP)
This is what I WOULD DO if I ever did this. Which I totally did not.
6ft6squatch2point0@reddit
Little squirt of bear spray inside the unoccupied car, into the base of the windshield, or a super soaker full of paint across the windshield will make that car much harder to drive away. Nothing technically damaged?
ReplacementReady394@reddit
Wouldn’t paint clog the super soaker? Doesn’t seem viscous enough
vonhoother@reddit
However, I hear the frosty boys often have run-flat tires. YMMV.
Personalrefrencept2@reddit
Yeah, they run flat for longer, not indefinitely!
Still an issue and a hassle
Blurgas@reddit
They're about as good as those donut spare tires: no more than 50 miles and/or no faster than 50mph
brennanfiesta@reddit
Stopping ICE? Unethical?
Adventurous_Raise784@reddit
Great way to get arrested for damaging federal property and interfering with an arrest. With today’s cameras…
attackbat33@reddit
What we are upset about is that you can be cuffed, arrested, handled and deported WITHOUT committing a felony!
Adventurous_Raise784@reddit
You came into a country illegally and get arrested and deported…why is that so controversial
mister-ferguson@reddit
People on student visas are being deported. People with protected status are being deported. People who came here legally are being deported. Trump even joked about deporting Musk.

They are rounding up brown people and working out later if they are here legally or not. Are you brown?
Then-Bed1001@reddit
Not even close
JakefromEarth@reddit
Masked men with guns are rounding up people on the streets. Regardless of the victim's legal status, that is a dangerous precedent to set.
Routine-Mulberry6124@reddit
Rounding up people and sending them to a prison to do labor, outside their home country, all without due process, is not deportation - it’s human trafficking and slave trading. If you support that, you can go to hell you piece of shit.
TheLonelyMonroni@reddit
We dont even know if they're "illegal" since there's no due process. Used to be the government would have to prove without a shadow of a doubt before they imprisoned or deported people. Now you fucks are cheering on their unchecked power to disappear people. Government so small they can blitzkrieg your community, abduct your neighbors, and you take your tongue from their boot just long enough to say, "Thank you daddy president."

Rebar and an OA torch are all you need. Maybe a dremel to cut slits.
SleepyLakeBear@reddit
Because these spikes drain the air slowly, I was wondering if a piston device like Anton Chigurh uses in No Country for Old Men would be effective against the tire sidewall. Would you have to hold it there firmly, or could one just casually walk by and quickly use it. I'm guessing it would need a lot of air pressure.

Get a sheet of square fencing, cut the T out of every section. Fold each leg of the T at a 90% angle in the opposite direction you folded the leg of the one opposite of it.
This will make it so that no matter how you toss or throw it, 3 legs will always be down to stabilize it, and one will be "up" to puncture whatever.
Abject-Yellow3793@reddit
The best spikes take a hole out of the tire, not just make a puncture
