Guilty about age of TV/movie crush only to find…?

Yeah, it does seem a lot more prevalent now. I think part of it is due to our increased awareness around sexual assault, sexual harassment, and things of that nature. However, I think a lot of things get thrown around way too loosely in terms of age differences. I’m not talking anything illegal or something. But when two consenting adults are in a relationship or married and she happens to be maybe 10 years younger than him, the male celebrity gets hit with all types of “groomer“ accusations and online craziness… I have even seen discourse in the other direction when an older woman gets a younger man. I’m talking mostly celebrities here… but “pedo, groomer, oh they shouldn’t be together he’s way too old for her”, etc… that stuff surrounds any relationship or marriage where there is a significant age difference. I mean Bill Belichick dating the 23 year-old is pretty crazy, but other than that as long as they are consenting adults and I don’t give two shits. I really don’t give two shits about celebrities as it is. But for some reason their dating lies are super interesting to a certain demographic and type of person…. That just ain’t me. I think OP might be trying to get at the point of being infatuated with someone portrayed as being a bit younger on TV only way to find out they were the same age. When you are a kid or a teenager, a few years is a huge difference. I mean I was a little bit old for boy meets world and Topanga, so I always felt a little weird when my younger brother and his friends all talked about how hot she was, Because she was (gasp) a whole year younger than me.l!! That’s right, she is 44 years old. But since she was playing maybe a junior high girl when I was graduating high school I felt awkward when my brother and his buddies would talk about how hot she was… I think that’s what OP was getting at. Back then, and sometimes even now, you had a lot of 20 somethings playing teenagers. 90210 was a great example…. Hell Andrea was like 29 when the show started! These days they tend to be a little closer to reality, at least in the stuff I’ve seen. But mostly they need to use 18-year-olds or older because of labor laws. I mean cruel intentions, they were all in high school but Selma Blair was like 30 at the time or something. So yeah, I feel like it was pretty weird when that happened as well
