What are the best states to live in the US?

Portugal situation is very unstable right now. New houses in Lisbon and Porto (which are the two major cities and where the majority of the population of the country lives because is where all the job opportunities are) are costing between half a million to one million euros / dollars (yep I’m not joking lol). Old houses are costing between 290k - 400k euros / dollars, this in a country where the majority of people’s salaries are between 10-18k per year. It’s basically impossible to buy a house with the local income (or without your entire family support). I’ve lived in Portugal for the first 23 years of my life and moved to Ireland for better job opportunities (and it was thanks to Ireland that I left poverty). Also Portugal became so popular in the last few years that it got imploded and “invaded” by digital nomads, Americans, British, Irish and every rich European nation and immigrants from other countries (Brazil, Angola, India, Pakistan etc) to the point it made the price of everything just skyrocket (restaurants, products, gas) and the public infrastructure is on the brink of collapse because it cannot sustain so many people moving at the same time. People cannot afford life right now, you barely live paycheck to paycheck (some not even that). The situation is so serious that Portugal’s Government just announced this week they will stop / pause the influx of immigrants and expats coming to the country and they will make the process of getting citizenship way harder (before you could get citizenship by just living 5 years legally in the country as resident, now it will take 10 years minimum). There’s a political party of far-right growing very fast and achieving the second most party in the country (similar to what happened in the US), because they are against immigrants and expats. So here you have it. Things in the US are bad right now but in the other part of the ocean they’re not better believe me.
