RTX 5060 TI or RX 9060 XT?
Posted by Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 95 comments
Hi there, I've been stuck for a while on this question, and this is my first ever build, so I'd like it to last.
The choices are between these cards (both are 16 GB VRAM):
Here is why I'm stuck:
-
I know that the 5060 Ti has better performance, but I'm not sure if 60 dollars is worth it. The RTX 5060 Ti is 60 bucks more expensive, and with that I could upgrade my setup with lights or a monitor. I also do plan to be a content creator or streamer, so I feel like the perks if the RTX series could help, but I'm not sure if 60 dollars is significant enough for me to buy.
-
I prefer 3 fan models. They look better in my opinion, so the RX 9060 XT looks more appealing. However, if the benefits of the 5060 TI are worth it, I will have to sacrifice the three fans. I'm just not sure if they are.
Please let me know below, thank you!

Rtx 5060 ti
ankit_saiyan@reddit
In India
RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB @ 61K INR
RX 9060 XT 16 GB @ 47K INR
That's a $ 150 difference, so for me it's a big no!
RomanJ55@reddit
If the 5060 Ti is only $60 more, I would personally go with the NVIDIA option. AMD GPUs have made progress in terms of ray tracing, upscaling, and features, but in my opinion, they’re not quite there yet.
Beniskickbutt@reddit
the other thing is yes nvidia is more expensive but this is $60 more.. Thats like the price of a new game at launch. I think thats worth it for the extra boost.
I was weighing rtx 5060 ti and rx 9060 xt and thats kind of the conclusion i came too. Yes amd is cheaper but its not significantly so. If i was saving $200-$300, then sure but under $100 its a bit harder to go cheaper.
ehhdjdmebshsmajsjssn@reddit
What about difference in vram?
TrippleDamage@reddit
Your opinion is quite funky.
Night_Argentum@reddit
Naw Nvidia is still ahead
ApprehensiveFeed516@reddit
I think AMD if they wanted could make a faster GPU, but what's the point, there's barely a market for it because the price to performance is horrible. I think AMD does well to undercut every good deal from nvidia. Another thing I would say is RDNA is far better at overclocking.
Night_Argentum@reddit
That doesn’t change that Nvidia is just better if the price is the same or very close. $60 difference for same tier card? Definitely go Nvidia.
ApprehensiveFeed516@reddit
It also depends where you're buying, here in Australia the 9060xt is like 100-200$ cheaper than the 5060ti, so it's a no brainer for me at least
Night_Argentum@reddit
Right then in that case go amd
Power2ndaccount@reddit
tbh 60$ can do a lot of difference in a budget. Like i'm doing a 1000€ for a guy and here the difference between the two 16GB versions is 80€ which would go over budget and for what? A slightly better upscaling and a raster of maybe a 3% avr faster on some games and on other it actually loses to the 9060 XT? nah, not worth it tbh.
Night_Argentum@reddit
Eh, if you're keeping this for 5 or so years, then $12 a year isn't a significant difference. In games you can afford to use RT, it would run significantly better on the Nvidia. Not to mention, if for whatever reason you go into AI, Nvidia is much better at that as well. ShadowPlay can record with NVENC which is super efficient (I don't notice any performance dip when running shadowplay at 1440p 60fps on RTX3080). If you want to use frame gen, it's better on the Nvidia. For $10 a year, I just don't see a reason to not go Nvidia
Power2ndaccount@reddit
the thing is if we look at the price difference on stuff many similiar arguments can be said for a lot of stuff like phones, cars and yada yada yada...it's not the best argument tbh. The most important thing in a build what you can afford and maybe go higher if it's affordable and make sense at the time you're actually purchasing.
Ret-LowKey@reddit
This is why being poor is more expensive :(
ApprehensiveFeed516@reddit
Yeah but I'm saying the overclocking capability of RDNA is far better than nvidia, I've owned both cards and I only see +5% on nvidia and 10-15% on RDNA when I've overclocked
Baker206@reddit
Lol. You see, AMD could undercut nvidia all they want. Nvidias bread and butter is selling commercial AI units. Besides that they can focus on R and D and making the best GPU ever... But, sadly the eras changing, They hired a secret weapon at INTEL, and under the ARC umbrella, were about to see some dopeass alien tech merging with our pathetic existance
TrippleDamage@reddit
They are, but a 9060xt will still shit on a 5060ti, and that was the question.
Night_Argentum@reddit
The 5060 Ti is faster lol.
Beginning-Brother947@reddit
You can get the 9060xt for $300usd. That's a bargain for performance.
AnitaHardcok6764@reddit
Not for the 16gb model lol
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
Thanks, I was thinking this too, especially with video editing and all that. I was also looking into 3 fan models of RTX 5060 Ti, and I did find one of the same price but looks kinda fishy, I'll look into it. Thanks for sharing!
Lil_bombo@reddit
Is it worth getting the rtx 5060 ti over the rt 9060 xt if it is over 200$ difference the rx 9060 is about 500$ and the 5060 ti at 700$
andrew784578@reddit
NVIDIA better if u wanna be a streamer. but windows getting funky and people migrate to Linux day by day. AMD excels in Linux. NVIDIA got funky in Linux tho. NVIDIA is perfect for what u wanna do. i own Rx9060xt and past nvidia card. if u wanna do 3D art or Ai or streamer or basically be something creator then go for NVIDIA. other than that AMD is the only choice
Afraid-Intern4267@reddit
so which one is better lol
Power2ndaccount@reddit
5060ti overall. it's a fight back and forth in Raster, the two cards blows back and forth winning and losing in certain title to the other card. Even if FSR/RT in AMD is good and is a great option NVIDIA is still the better one with DLSS/RT. So ovr if price is close like at most 50$ you can really consider going for NVIDIA. If price is more then...IMO not worth it.
totti8758@reddit
5060ti is like 30 dollars more expensive then the 9060xt, but then again both are more expensive here compared to the US due to taxes, so price difference are also different and sometimes similar, so I'm guessing in this case the 5060ti would be worth it or just personal preference?
Power2ndaccount@reddit
If we're talking about the 16GB yes, the Nvidia card of just 30$ more it is better. If it's the 8GB one....then....just go with the cheaper....you won't do much RT/DLSS with just 8GB VRAM

Maleficent-Tough-939@reddit
If you also want to stream and video editing. Go for nvidia
Lenzky-3@reddit
Streaming and video editing isn't an issue with this GPU it's actually pretty good at it. lagging behind Nvidia on editing by a few 20 seconds on the same length and video resolution.
as for Streaming, it's also as good as NVIDIA rn.. The difference is by a very small margin which is 5% with comparison on the same bit rate. (I have both GPU, one for me and one my friend use)
So that's not really an issue, the one huge difference is:
1. AI
2. ANIMATION
3. 3D rendering (Blender)
if these 3 things are like your JOB or HOBBY. absolutely never ever touch AMD.
If it's only gaming and streaming it's definitely a contender against Nvidia.
The thing is 9060xt has better RAW performance than 5060ti .. which is only getting carried by "AI".. which prob the next set of GPU is gonna be 50% AI and 50% actual performance. If they are equal in terms of software/ai . AMD will always win and that 5060ti would be half the value of that 9060xt. AMD is just very much lagging behind Nvidia in that aspect. though they are catching up, they are doing it slow.
Lenzky-3@reddit
Bit old 6months later.. but I bought both..
In my opinion RX 9060Xt is better choice if ur buying RTX 5060ti..
And if ur buying RTX 5060ti might as well save and buy a 5070ti or a 9070xt.. cuz 5060ti price wise is NOT worth at fckin all. This is all btw with the premise that you're into 1440p gaming cuz 5070ti and 9070xt are entry cards for that resolution. 5060ti and 9060xt can do 1440p but not at max settings on most games.
If ur ever using AI and 4K video editing or animation it's obvious ur not even gonna need to think about which GPU to pick cuz it's always going to be any NVIDIA card.
But anything else it all boils down to price to performance. That's why most of the time it's AMD. RTX 5060ti is just not worth the price when it's literally 1% faster than RX 9060 XT in gaming, only getting gapped by better software which is impossible to notice. Even Ray tracing it's better. so gaming in general it's cheaper to buy 9060xt where in you can upgrade more stuff for the excess money like a 1440p monitor.
Remember you can just download lossless scaling too which is a better alternative to AMD cards which have not that good Framegen and upscale software.
I use my 9060xt for gaming and some streaming sometimes on a single pc set up and it's very very good at that. It can handle all games at max/ultra settings at 1080p and mid-high at 1440p with a consistent average of 60fps. So you won't really have to worry about it.
KillEvilThings@reddit
The 7800xt is a more powerful GPU than the 5060 Ti and is roughly the same price, it's bullshit how much the price has crept up for the 5060 Ti. The 5060 Ti is a 350 USD card at most, as is the 9060 XT.
rundownv2@reddit
Where are you finiding a 7800 xt that isn't open box for that cheap? I don't see anything less than 600ish, while I can find 5060 ti 16gb models for <500.
It's obnoxious how expensive they are in the first place though. I'm still running on a 1070, kept avoiding picking something up until prices were down and I had the budget, but I haven't had the budget until now, and with the advent of games that require ray tracing, and a couple newer games coming out I'd like to play on something that isn't all low settings, I kind of have to pick one up.
kzukowski1988@reddit
5 min search and found a 450 dollar 7800xt on ebay.
full_of_excuses@reddit
so you spent 5 minutes (ie, not an instant search) to find a used, and thus without warranty, item for 50% more than the price of the item being compared to?
kzukowski1988@reddit
50% more than the 5060ti?! Stfu with that garbage!
full_of_excuses@reddit
the post's question is about the 9060 vs 5060ti :) the 7800 was posited as a replacement for the 5060ti option, thus 450 would be 50% more than the $300 9060 option.
kzukowski1988@reddit
Nobody cares about the 9060. I was never talking about the 9060.
full_of_excuses@reddit
it is literally the OP question. You realize the entire internet doesn't have to be about things that interest you, right?
kzukowski1988@reddit

full_of_excuses@reddit
Notice how you said "nobody cares about the 9060" in a thread started about the 9060. Why are you choosing to go out of your way to be an asshole?
oldguyhunting@reddit
No; the price for 5060ti 16GB skyrocketed that high because everyone and his mom went for it, and that with reason - AMD is "ok" with raw performance but they totally suck on features like DLSS, MFG, Broadcast and aswell on frequent driver support.
In the end you can say you get what you pay for - if you pay the nvidia extra you get all the features that are of use today - if you decide for amd you save 50-100; but then you stand there with a featureless card.
I would recommend everyone to go for the 5060ti 16gb as long as AMD doesnt start to create and deliver the features Nvidia does out of certainity.
DevoinI69@reddit
Msrp or what they are actually selling for? Theres a $200 different right now
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
Definitely don't have the budget for a 7800xt...they're really expensive right now as well.

Suddenly I need to upgrade my 1070ti with something new and I found a deal with 5060TI 8gb... At 270€. I am wondering if it's good or not seeing all this comments and which can be an alternative solution on same price level.
Quack-Zack@reddit
People losing their mind over 8GB of VRAM because of modern titles.
If you're okay with not playing at cranked ultra/max settings, yes. Some games you will have to turn down settings to avoid bottlenecks.
I'm looking at a 9060 XT or 5060 Ti. I'd pick either whenever they price drop for the holidays. Cheers.
mitykal@reddit
(Update) Actually playing 1080p ultra and on campaign I am satisfied with decent FPS and playability (no slowness no freezes). On multiplayer I think there's a bug with the driver and sometimes crashes while switching from dead to team body cam... By the way my new rx7700 is on its way so soon it's getting better.
Therefore I suggest to 1070 and 1080 owners to keep them as with the perfect settings balance the game is well playable.
Loud-Bet9417@reddit
If its the 8gb version is not worth it. Most new games will struggle with that amount of VRAM
Ok_Rice_2633@reddit
In most cases the 5060 non ti performs like or better than the 9060xt. Hard pill to swallow for brand fanboys but I've worked with them both. The if youre in that budget range definitely go nvidia, any less go amd.
Quack-Zack@reddit
Are you swallowing your own pills? 9060 XT matches 5060 Ti or is slightly slower. I'm not trying to d-ride AMD as I've been with NVIDIA for the past decade. I'm just trying to stir a change.
If you can get the 9060 XT for 250-275 it's a non contest, unless you like paying $100 more for a small uplift and the green tax. Or you're really desperate for CUDA.

Just to add to this. I have had a 9060 for a couple months I love the card but for one thing. Driver timeout issues. I am pulling my hair out and based on years of posts this is a thing amd knows about but still has not solved. Since a Best Buy down the street has a couple 5060 ti cards I am about to buy it and hopefully put my driver timeout issues in the past. And for those that want to blame something other than the 9060 I swapped with a friends 3060 for a few weeks while he was away and I had no issues.
portotransmission8sp@reddit
I always had issues when i ran an amd rx 470.
CZTachyonsVN@reddit
I am a bit late to the party but the choice of OS has played a big part in my choice. I want to be able to run Linux without much hassle, possibly even trying SteamOS. It's free and faster than Windows. That's why I ended up getting 9060xt.
Xiguet@reddit
do you mean that with AMD cards you can skip all the driver problems in Linux?
CZTachyonsVN@reddit
Yep. AMD has native support on Linux. Although, I've heard that it is slowly changing and NVIDIA has less and less issues as time goes on.
komrade_kat123@reddit
How has it performed?
CZTachyonsVN@reddit
well, since I am no longer bottlenecked by CPU or GPU and currently maxing out my 1080p 144hz display, the performance is similar on both OS or barely better on linux. On paper low 1% and 0.1% is better on Linux but I haven't noticed it. The computer is idling much better on Linux since there isn't so much overhead and any telemetry running in the background. It's just much more efficient system, I also have so much more RAM to play with without eating away into gaming performance. I am using EndeavourOS which is a beginner friendly Arch... btw
geemad7@reddit
It comes down to price, they are about equal in performance.
I personally don't care about DLSS/FSR, Nvidia is still king of raytracing.
It would come down to what monitor you are using/wanting to get.
If you are on 1080p 60Hz? Get a new monitor first.
JJay9454@reddit
Wait? Why get a new monitor? What's wrong with old ones?
talkaboom@reddit
Extreme simplification -
JJay9454@reddit
Sorry, i wasnt clear. I guess I just don't understand why get a new monitor if the desire is to play at 1080 60fps?
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
I am still on 1090p 60 Hz lol, its an old monitor. I was also thinking about this, which gives 9060XT a boost. On the other hand, with me planning to stream and content create, I'm not sure if I should go with the NVIDIA option instead.
geemad7@reddit
You would have to figure that out. With streaming, Intel becomes interesting (B580).
Both cards are overkill for 1080P 60Hz( if combined with decent CPU)
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
9070XT was also considered..until i saw the price tag. And whatever GPU is gonna get paired with the Ryzen 5 9600X.
As for the monitor, I do get some money every month, so I'm not really worried about that.
geemad7@reddit
Yeah, missed chance for AMD. The 9070XT is overpriced.
In that case. 5060Ti would be the better choise.
It is an absolute garbage market for GPU at this time.
But maybe look at the new 9060XT, depending on where you live that could be interesting.
But that would be depending on location and price, because those 2 go head to head.
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
Those two only have a 60 dollar difference, and i do prefer 3 fan models, but being a content creator im not sure if i should sacrifice 3 fan model for better editing/recording performance from RTX gpus
geemad7@reddit
Sorry friend, that would be up to you ;)
nipseyhusstle1@reddit
What CPU is a good choice for these two gpus & the 9070 xt? If you only want to play 1080p on a tv not a monitor does ray tracing even matter?
Upstairs_Progress_70@reddit
forget about ray tracing and fsr. Focus on the raw power of a videocard. Thats the most important. Ray tracing and fsr work good for 1 game and worse for another game since the games need to be optimised for the feature. The card needs to be an overall performer unless you know what games you'll be playing already, than you can look what works best (fsr or raytracing).
nipseyhusstle1@reddit
What about cpu
Creative_Move8514@reddit
Brother i have a same problem here the price difference is huge here in my local PC shop $127 freaking dollars i can buy a monitor or buy a expensive 2k monitor with it

Already built my PC with the rtx 5060ti. Content creation is pretty important to me.
However, with your price difference the cheaper one is probably best.
nathan0143@reddit
Have you been able to play 1440p with relatively no issues?
Mysterious_Ice_9119@reddit (OP)
Hey! I went with the 5060ti. I don't have a 1440p monitor, but on high or ultra 1080p it's easily reaching like 150-250 fps.
Fun_Raspberry8975@reddit
I have two problems with the 5060 ti. 1. They lower cost ones in my country look like sht 2. Its 75 euros Diference from the lower priced RX 9060xt Problem with rx9060xt. 1. Its worse for streaming Also i have a question even though the rtx 5060ti seems to perform up to 5 percent better doesnt that Change from manufactor?

I meant to say the rx9600xt is worse for streaming and thats my problem with it
Ok-Addendum-8574@reddit
For anyone still looking for an opinion:
After debating the same, I recently bought the 5060 Ti. But judging from recent benchmarks being released online, the 9060 XT seems to be very close in performance. Check out direct comparisons in games on youtube if you want to see for yourself. In hindsight, I'd buy the 9060 XT and spend the money on something else, like decent fans or a nicer case.
