As a Japanese person, I don't think it's that strange, but that may be a bias due to the strict hygiene rules in my country. Sushi and sashimi are often seen at buffets in Japan.

It is ok. To confirm what was said abive, it was slightly soggy but it was due to the citrus juice. I didnt experience any atomach issues.

Im sorry but this is the dumbest possible thing you could choose at a cheap buffet. With 99% of foods the main risk is that they'll just taste bad, you chose the one food that could actually be dangerous.

In much of the world, tuna for sushi is usually yellowfin tuna, which has bright red flesh. Bluefin tuna is much less red in color, and is considered the best tuna for sashimi, at least in Japan. I’m not saying that I know this is bluefin, just that a full color doesn’t indicate bad tuna.

Was it set out like this, or is this your plate? The citrus juice altered the color of the fish. If you look around the top left, some hint of red remains. Would not.

>The citrus juice altered the color of the fish Not only that, if the citrus was left on the fish for more than 5 minutes it's very likely the acid cooked the fish. This is not desired but okay-ish in stuff like ceviche, but I wouldn't do it to straight raw fish.
