Zen 3 is still produced due to the laptop still using it, and without Zen3 AMD is conceding the whole low to mid end market to Intel on desktop. BTW, the new 5600X produced this year is total dogshit for oc, even 4.5 is hard to achieve.
The 57X3D was originally considered a global product and was sold in China from the start, but only the 56X3D and 55X3D were distributed outside of China. Even if someone managed to smuggle it out, they’d either face insufficient quantities to sell or a high risk of getting caught—anyone who tries to return the chip to AMD would be caught red-handed. Yet, the entire distribution industry operates on massive economies of scale.
Region or store specific models really grind my gears.
That's not exactly a complicated matter: AMD has a bunch of CPUs that don't qualify for any product in their lineup, but not enough of them to stock retailers on a global scale. So instead, they do a limited release.
I doubt they'd just junk these so probably they just didn't have enough to warrant an actual release. My guess is they probably sell them to a OEM who uses them in a mini-PC build or something.
Maybe but I'm suspecting maybe there it a marketing reason behind that "new release" The 5600x3d is already binned diwn and it clocks quite a bit lower than the 5600/5600x/5700x3d. Nothing a minor voltage bump can't fix l. I'm thinking chips have enough tolerance.
There is no marketing reason. Some dies fail to qualify as 5600X3D, hence a newer lower performing product. Why waste those dies when AMD can sell them?
yeah exactly. different performance so it needs to be a different sku. it's not a marketing reason that they need to give it a different name, it's because it's a different product
I mean, why are you complaining? Would you prefer to instead for them to contribute to the global crisis that is eWaste by just tossing 5600X3D that doesn't meet spec in the bin??
E-waste is a ludicrously overblown problem, and if anything, sending more computers out into the world that cannot be used without a discrete graphics card makes it worse.
You're not wrong, AMD marketing has made lots of blunders in the last ~4 years being a bit too aggressive with their claims, despite their products being solid without the hype.

IMO IF it is $200+, I would just pass unless you really can't upgrade to a whole new platform. doesn't seem like it would be a good deal, you can get a 5700x3d for $250 used and even then that just makes me wince a little. those things used to be a lot less.
I mean if you're on AM4 and you don't have the money to fully upgrade your mb/cpu/ram then $200 is a lot less money.
$190 - 7600
$100 - cheap AM5
$75 - some 32gb kit of ddr5
Total: $365
if you're just gaming, how much better is that going to be than a $200 5500x3d? And that's why I think this cpu will launch at $200, and that's also why AMD is making it. Cause they can still sell it for $200.
I mean, that's fair. I still expect it to msrp at $200 since the 5700x3d launched at $250. Pricing may still be different in your region anyway since well msrp seems to be a very loose suggestion these days.
It's for people like me who haven't bothered upgrading from my 3600 I bought a few months after release. I was originally pining for a 5800X3D but life things kept happening and PC upgrades kept taking a backseat. And though I still can't justify going to 8 cores because of the pricing where I live (even the 5700X3D is outside my budget) a 6 core X3D chip would be a welcome upgrade.
These releases aren't really AMD still "supporting" AM4. They're just products that would otherwise be in the trash that they managed to stockpile a few hundred (or maybe thousand) of over time that most people can't actually purchase.
What. Why would you not sell it to Brazil? 200m people even if Chile is richer and all, it's a tiny country and Argentina is in a rough spot economically, also, uruguay has 7 people.
I'm from Ecuador and I called all the AMD partners here, they never heard something about this CPU. Any idea where I can buy it if not in latin America?!
GovernmentSimilar558@reddit
since AMD already made 5500x3d, will 5950x3d happen? i hope AMD can hear me.
DarkLeach7@reddit
I wouldn't be surprised if AMD keeps pumping out AM4 chips because of GloFo wafer agreements or whatever since they fab the IOD because it's 12nm
iron_coffin@reddit
These are leftovers. They aren't making more 5800x3d
Creative-Expert8086@reddit
AMD still needs AM4, the lowest end is 75F for AM5 which also needs DDR5
iron_coffin@reddit
DDR5 isn't expensive anymore, and they don't need to sell $100 chips. These are leftovers

So they'll probably be all over Aliexpress.
ranixon@reddit
Aliexpress sends from China, not latam...
iron_coffin@reddit
But they're made in China, so the factories might sell there instead
Creative-Expert8086@reddit
No, for semicon, the whole chain signs NDA and strong IP protection.
iron_coffin@reddit
Well 5700x3d ended up on aliexpress. Also you can probably think of another time something escaped a controlled workspace in china, allegedly.
Creative-Expert8086@reddit
If you are stealing A100/800/H20, then sure, for a COTS Zen? No way anyone wanna risk an NDA.

Honestly they kind of deserve it after 5600X3D was a very limited US release only at Micro Center
kikimaru024@reddit
5600X3D showed up in Germany & was almost definitely available in China.

hmm... I guess it enables their marketing to claim that they're supporting AM4 a decade after release.
Creative-Expert8086@reddit
like the 58-57x3d
dam0_0@reddit
And Reddit can circlejerk about am4 longevity by going gaga about cpus which aren't available for majority of the world.
Region or store specific models really grind my gears.
5700x3d was the last meaningful cpu launch on am4.
sisiwuling@reddit
That's fair for the new chips, but each time one of them is released, it effectively pushes back the AM4 EOL date for everyone.
My board is nearly five years old and still runs the latest AGESA.
There are even boards over eight years old still receiving updates.
Obviously, we aren't getting AM5 features, but PBO, voltage tuning, security patches, and similar fixes are all up to date.
iron_coffin@reddit
No, they're still selling vega igpu laptops but pulled all but barebones driver support

AMD has a long history of doing limited exclusive releases of products before stealth dropping the product for wider release.
iron_coffin@reddit
Like when they didn't do that with the 5600x3d?
fatso486@reddit

5600X3D runs at a higher clockspeed than 5700X3D. It's something like -100mhz vs -500mhz for each of them compared to the 5800X3D's.
Mental-At-ThirtyFive@reddit
This - AMD's product strategy is essentially scavenging in the bins and making products out of it - intern/fresh grad's job
detectiveDollar@reddit
Yeah, the only alternate path for x3D dies with 6 cores working but can't hit 5600x3D clocks is the garbage.
jerryfrz@reddit
In 2056 AMD will be releasing their brand new Ryzen 3 5199.275X3D to proudly celebrate the 50th anniversary of AM4

I totally missed it on 5700x3d for $140+. I'd pick this up at around <$200 to upgrade my aging 5600x. Might not be worth it if 200+
Aristotelaras@reddit
It makes more economic sense to sell your AM4 parts and upgrade to AM5.

$200 is way too much. The 7500f is like $150. This thing shouldn't be more expensive than that.
LowerCauliflower230@reddit
lol I wouldn't recommend anyone pay $200 for it either. I do need to go ahead and get rid of my am4 x3d cpu though.

Roughly the same clock speeds as the 5700X3D.
