Do you know anyone who has spurned the family business in a radical way?

Friend of a friend was the eldest son of the owner of a generational poultry farm business. Became a vegan and alienated himself from the business and entire family, moving to a Scottish isle to do birding.
Always thought that took balls; it’d be an easier life to inherit an established, successful business and have a comfortable life.
Anyone else have examples of such rejections?
