Because if how you act on Reddit is representation of how you treat your employees, I'd wager you surely have drank a coffee with spit, or had their mouse and keyboard stink palmed. Is it your family connections that got you starting at such a high level, or was it your family connections that got you in to a prestigious Ivy League school that allowed you to start so high up the ladder? Since we are e-penis measuring, my first computer was 286 that I begged my parents for like a year for at the age of 12, I taught myself DOS and how to work on computers. I got involved in BBS's in the community, met a lot of hobbyists and professionals, and was offered job as IT Support Technician, from their it's mostly just passion and grit that has propelled me upward for 27 years or so. >You treating your IT job as some form of activism is hilarious. You have a job, your duty and responsibility is to do that job to the best of your ability. If you are given a task that is reckless or stupid or misguided, it is your job to leverage your knowledge and expertise to that end. Sometimes that end means extra work, working weekends, whatever, other times it's saying "No we can't just update this system, we need to test it first" or "No we can't make this configuration change to facilitate XYZ because it will or has a high probability to break something else". Like I said, the fact that you started at such a high level, means you have a naive understanding of the job, because you've never had to do the actual work and build the systems to understand how they work and why sometimes we have to object and say no to some things. Because your types lack the real world experience >I can only imagine how often you get fired. I have never been fired. I've also always been praised for my performance and hard work. I'm not perfect, but because I'm competent and have some talent, I have the power to push back, you seem to hate that, but that's what "having value" in a company means. You on the other hand seem to treat employees like Boeing treats their safety and compliance teams. :)
