Not everyone who shop there is bad. Some dealers are just attracting those so they can sell expensive cars to them. (Inflated ego)

I took my car in for service the other day and a highland park looking old lady started yelling at me about how they make cars too complicated these days (I could tell by the look on the clerk’s face she’d just been yelling at him) and I was like “yeah all these sensors and stuff” thinking that would end the conversation and she kept on ranting at me like I had something to do with whatever design decision she was mad about. Although the RX350 they gave me as a loaner had a giant touchscreen instead of knobs and buttons and a weird shifter and those things do kind of turn me into a boomer

Nope, safety inspections have been eliminated state-wide. The only inspections still required in the state are emissions inspections on vehicles 24 years old or newer in 17 counties:

In a year or two Bexar county will be added to the list.
It's no longer required, but you bet I'm still going to check my butt in at my mechanic FOR a safety inspection. At least every other year when my car is in good shape and annually or biannually when it's not.
I think it's going to be on us to still maintain a culture of safety by gently bullying everyone we know into going.
90% of people never check their tires for wear or problems.
I worked as a valet for a couple of years and there would be 20 to 30 cars a week like this where I would let the owners know their tires were bad. NONE OF THEM even had a clue.
To be fair:
Due to the unnecessarily extreme (and non-adjustable!) negative camber on these BMWs, they just absolutely *roast* the insides of the tires.
I guarantee these tires probably only have 15k on them and the owner likely has no clue because a typical glance at the tire tread reveals perfectly healthy looking tread from what one can see without getting under it.
It really is insane BMW does this and makes camber non-adjustable without expensive aftermarket camber arms. You can't even rotate the tires to offset the insane inner wear because the front and back on these and the X5s are different sizes front to back.
Front camber is non-adjustable, I can assure you the rear camber is most certainly adjustable. Spec is a lot more negative than other brands though, and if driven hard they do wear faster on the inners, especially the V8s
minimally adjustable* shoud I have said? You can get maybe 1/3 a degree in my experience, bringing you to still robust negative 2 degrees of camber in the rear lol.
Is the X7 not as extreme as the F15 X5?
You don't even have to drive them hard on the F15. Literally, couple year old soccer mom BMWs with 15-20k miles completely roast the tires. Most owners just don't notice or care because they just willingly get bent over backwards with whatever the dealer tells them they need every few months, and then get a new one at 40k miles. Trying to maintain or keep one long term just infuriates you trying to not buy new tires every year.
I had to install SPC adjustable arms on ours to get into a reasonable (IMO) rear camber spec. Two F15s now.
Fucking Dallas drivers. I’ve had more vehicle damage in a year of living here than the previous 10 with the same car. Between random unavoidable objects in the roadway and getting rear ended and swiped in parking lots by other drivers, it’s just bad. I’ve lived all over the country and Dallas takes the cake.
So many people can just afford the payment and act shocked when you ask them to buy something that isn’t covered under warranty. All they care about is other people seeing that badge
Those tires have built-in Snow chains. You put them on in march, and by winter the chains come out for extra grip.

Okay, I feel for this guy. I own a 2011 Mercedes e350. The wheel wells are so tight and the car is so low to the ground, it’s not really easy to see the face of the treads. You see the treads on the out edge of the tire which look fine.
One time I literally wore the tire to flat before I realized it was worn. I rarely drive and am pretty careful when I do, so I never noticed lack of traction.
Tires are also stupid expensive, so there’s that as well.
