Anybody ever use flags meant for motorcycles on their regular bike/e-bike?

Any installation issues and how do they look, even with a bag on the rear cargo rack?
The product description on some on these very specifically say they’re for motorcycles, not motorcycles OR bicycles. Of course, I’m probably overthinking that part lol.

sometimes my pan flag!
DoubleOwl7777@reddit
a USA flag?! now? seriously?
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
YES. Now and every single day. You can freak out over the American flag as much as you want, but outside of your bubble, which is the VAST majority of the country, we 100% love our flag and proudly fly it.
stormdelta@reddit
The veteran flag, sure.
The US flag, given the current political environment, will be read as at best insensitive, or worse in support of the current administration's destructive assault on American institutions and civil rights.

I agree about your overacting from the other commentor. I don't know where you live or what you read or watch, but you have to realize you can't make such a general statement like "how out of touch [I am] with most Americans right now." Sure, if you listen to the MSNBC /cabal, but that is NOT what it's like on the ground (maybe where you're at or with whom you live with and spend your time being around). Remember what a lot of people right here on Reddit thought at 8:00 PM on November 5th. Palpitable excitement and gleeful anticipation. Oh, what a landslide is coming. Oh, she's going to sweep the swing states. Oh, it's going to be an electoral college blowout. Oh, Iowa is going to be the blue icing on the cake. Oops. Reddit was where the "out touch" was going on.
stormdelta@reddit
All this does is signal which bubble you're in. MSNBC is sensationalist junk used as a scapegoat of likewise sensationalist junk right-wing media like Fox News that try to pretend they're not part of the same "mainstream media" they're attacking, and have a history of increasingly brazen lies (such as making up the "migrant crime wave" last year out of nothing - no spike in immigrant crime was ever demonstrated). MSNBC isn't even considered progressive - a left-wing equivalent to Fox is closer to something like the Huffington Post. None of them are reputable sources of information.
People looking for neutral reporting typically look to outfits like the BBC, AP, and Reuters.
More importantly, I'm hardly just talking news reporting.
You're talking about past speculation on a single social media site, I'm talking about stuff that's actually happening now. Not "might happen", but is happening, and in many cases already affecting people I know in real life directly or indirectly.
Stick your head in the sand if you want, but don't be surprised when people are angry at you for acting proud of it.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
This is a bubble. A prime example of a bubble, and one of the worst in the entire Internet. Everybody knows it and November 5th and the entire election cycle was just one excellent example of it. And it is still a bubble, true to its DNA, today, right now.
And who said I'm surprised about anything? That's the last thing I am. It's as "normal" as can be around here. Of course, a post about American and POW motorcycle flags gets posted (including pictures!!) and, predictably, all the vermin come scurrying out of their holes to remind the echo chamber of their bona fides and also spew their unsolicited leftist diatribes inculcated in attacks on the American flag. And don't forget the downvotes -- ooh, their so proud of their downvotes, like I give a rat's tail.
Nope, not surprised not even one little bit.
stormdelta@reddit
I don't know why I even bothered trying to be polite when you almost immediately resorting to calling everyone that disagrees with you "vermin".
There's a reason so many of you guys are getting cut off from saner family and friends. You're so deep in your bubble you have to dehumanize everyone outside it for the world to make sense to you anymore.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Hey lady (or man - whatever you are): I don't care what you think and you're not hurting my feelings. If anything, you're just a colossal waste of time on a perfectly good Tuesday afternoon. I don't even care what you think about motorcycle flags on a bicycle rear cargo rack any more. Exit right; go rant and rave to somebody else...find someone who cares about your opinions.
stormdelta@reddit
You clearly do or you wouldn't be responding. Either way, I'm done - you've already made your views clear by calling everyone who disagrees "vermin", and you've already been informed how everyone else is going to see it if you mount something this ostentatious and cringe on your bike. Don't be surprised if it gets vandalized / stolen.
NamelessNumbrheadMan@reddit
my dude you literally asked for our opinions, sorry they're not the ones you were expecting? you seem a little upset, might I suggest going for a bike ride instead of culture war trolling on cycling subreddits today?
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Yes, unsolicited leftist diatribes. Might I remind you this is an e-bike subreddit and the question was e-bike-related?
Go back, reset your brain -- and if you do have an opinion about motorcycle flags on a bicycle rear cargo rack, go for it.
NamelessNumbrheadMan@reddit
extremely cringe regardless of political affiliation, but that seems pretty on brand for you so I say go for it! happy to help
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Thank you for your help! Of course, I absolutely don't think and never would think that flying our beautiful American flag and the POW flag that honors the memories and sacrifices of those who fought for our wonderful, incredible country and never came back to their families, are "extremely cringe" by any stretch. If the small flags/poles and mounting mechanism works on the cargo rack, I'm in.
NamelessNumbrheadMan@reddit
Sir, sir, might I remind you this is an e-bike subreddit and your question was e-bike-related? you asked for opinions about motorcycle flags on e-bikes, and I find people who dress up their e-bikes like motorcycles to be extremely cringe. I would never, ever, in a million years imply that flying a cheap chinese-made copy of those beautiful, majestic stars and bars on your dorky moped with pedals would make you look cringe and stupid. that would be downright unpatriotic, please go do that right now
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Sir, sir -- yes, you gave your opinion, and I said thanks. Why don't you go and enjoy what's left of your day? Peace out. lol
NamelessNumbrheadMan@reddit
hilarious that these culture war trolls still think leftists sit around watching MSNBC all day
stormdelta@reddit
In the vain hope this might get through to you, here's just a handful of the things that directly or indirectly affect me and people I care about:
RFK Jr being head of HHS is a disaster. He has no background or knowledge of medicine, and spews crackpot nonsense that validates dangerously wrong medical misinformation that already permeates social media. He is already making it harder for people to get access to seasonal vaccinations, making life more dangerous for immunocompromised individuals like my mother. He has targeted medications that are widely successful like ADHD meds that I rely on to work.
My partner is trans, and many of the people I care about are LGBT. Trump has enacted a huge range of policies target trans people, pretending they don't exist despite decades of evidence and backing from actual medical and psychiatric professionals. It's already harder for most to get care covered by medicare, or access to things like passports. And the hateful rhetoric of his allies has emboldened anti-LGBT people and legislators everywhere.
Abortion rights have already been stripped in many states
I know firsthand how much thankless work teachers do in public education, and how important good education is. The modern GOP has spent decades demonizing education and teachers with lies and falsehoods
I work in tech. Allowing people like Peter Thiel increased influence and access to citizen's private data is an extremely bad idea - the man is actively and openly opposed to democracy itself. I don't say that lightly, I mean he has literally written published essays saying so.
Trump has greatly harmed the reputation of the US internationally. This has already led to reduced demand for US goods, and in particular reduced demand for tourism to the US. This isn't speculation, you look at the actual numbers for this. My state's economy will be hurt by the reduced tourism in the coming years.
Many legal immigrants and first-generation citizens are now understandably worried they'll be deported or targeted, since the current administration has already demonstrated they don't actually care whether someone was here legally
And that's just some of the bigger ones
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Take your laundry list to r/Politics or somewhere else like that.
I don't even know if you ever answered my question -- it might be buried somewhere in one of your sermons: Motorcycle flags on a bicycle?
Frankly, to sooth your spirits, you can even replace the American flag with the Mexican flag (any flag for that matter), if you want, because it was basically about the flags/mounting mechanism on the rear cargo rack of a bicycle, not the flags themselves, per se.
stormdelta@reddit
Don't start fights if you don't expect people to punch back. You're the one that started spouting right-wing bullshit when people warned you how this was going to be perceived and you took offense to that.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
You are so laughable. You think you can hijack a sub with your diarrhea of leftist cow dung and then characterize responding back as "fighting back." Well, that's your mental problem to deal with. I already told you I expected nothing less from the likes of you, not that they were solicited. Nobody asked you to come on here with your ranting catalog of grievances and rehearsed talking points that had nothing to do with motorcycle flags on an e-bike rear cargo rack. I don't care what you think about anything else.
arthurbarnhouse@reddit
The POW/MIA flag is, frankly, a much more odious flag than the American Flag. The POW/MIA flag has a long history of association with people who insist that the US has refused to return living POWs from various Southeast Asian governments. They're one step away from the Committee to Reinvade Vietnam. The American flag is a pretty normal thing to fly. I wouldn't put one on my ebike, I think tiny flags are odd and showy (in much the same way I wouldn't put a Jesus Fish on my bumper) but you're really overreacting here.
Mountain-Bag-6427@reddit
We're all aware that the majority of the US are fascist and will still suck their nation's dick even when it is tossing human rights in the garbage, but thanks for the reminder.
tigerf117@reddit
They add a fair bit of resistance, which is important on anything electric powered. I would opt for something rigid that won’t add a lot of resistance.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Thanks - something to think about. At my speed, which is usually quite less than 25 MPH, it’s probably not a huge issue, though. lol
tigerf117@reddit
I’ve heard after about 14mph wind resistance starts becoming a bigger impact. Take that for what it’s worth, if you have a big enough battery who cares lol
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Good to know. Thank you.
KindaDim@reddit
probably wait for there to not be a fascist takeover before you start flaunting the flag imo
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Absolutely love the Star-Spangled Banner — fly it proudly. All day, every day.
KindaDim@reddit
have some standards. your fellow americans are being downtrodden and that flag is a celebration of it.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
We have a beautiful country. Love it through and through. Glad and love being an American. Wouldn’t live anywhere else and will always be grateful until my dying day. I am extremely glad as a veteran to have served this great country for 22 years.
stormdelta@reddit
No offense, but at best this is an extremely naive view given the current political environment in the US.
Flying the flag right now, especially when you're using language like this, reads as at best deeply insensitive to the damage and harm being down by the current administration, if not openly in support of it.
Particularly given that many cyclists are generally more on the progressive side and even less likely to be tolerant of what I'm hoping is simply a very sheltered and naive view on your part.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Naive? Please. Get off your soap box and realize that Americans loving America and the American flag is far from “naive,” unless you’re part of the class that wants to dictate thought and expression and, God forbid, if it doesn’t comport with your political agenda/manifesto/purity test.
And don’t you start with this progressive/not progressive cyclists garbage. People go into bike shops to buy their bike without spending one ounce of thought about where on the political spectrum they are. Such utter nonsense.
Instead of wearing your leftist political sensitivities on your sleeves when you entered this conversation, answer the question - will motorcycle flags work with bicycles?
stormdelta@reddit
Electric vehicles and alternative transit tend to be more heavily championed by progressives, for a long list of reasons including concerns about climate change, desires to see safer and more walkable cities, accessibility of transit to lower income people, etc.
If any of that is a surprise to you, you're even more deeply inside your bubble than I thought.
You do realize that to most of us, that describes the current administration and the modern Republican party right? They're the ones actively trying to strip rights, ignore due process, impede free trade, rewriting history, deporting legal citizens and immigrants, etc.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
I agree with some of what you said. I don't think there's anything wrong with EVs and alternative transit.
KindaDim@reddit
Preach!!! Imagine riding ebikes and other alternative transit and still having the gall to support politicians that actively disdain anything that isn't a F-150
Mountain-Bag-6427@reddit
OP is not naive, OP is an active participant in US government crimes.
KindaDim@reddit

KindaDim@reddit
Name one thing America is currently well-renowned for today, and one good thing you did for the world at large during your time working for the military complex designed to step on the necks of other nations in search of financial gain.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Please. If it’s so terrible in America, why are you not on the next plane to Havana, Pyongyang, Caracas, or Beijing?
All these illegal immigrants who ran across the open border and jumped in front of legal immigrants are rushing the gates because it’s so terrible here in America.
Now answer the question - motorcycle flags on a bike?
KindaDim@reddit
Trump is getting rid of legal immigrants and asylum seekers. And even if he weren't, he's giving nobody their legal due process, which is an inalienable right regardless of whether you're a citizen or not. You're supporting a fascist bitch and you deserve to be shunned for your lack of empathy. Your suburban ass has no idea what real hardship looks like. Put the stupid ass flags on your bike, maybe someone will do you a favor and slash your tires.
Ok-Carpenter-8455@reddit
Pretty pointless to me unless you're looking for attention.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Your opinion, which is fine. Of course, with the American and POW flags flying everywhere around America in front or on top of buildings and homes or by millions and millions of individuals — that’s a lot of looking for attention by everyone.
KindaDim@reddit
Then why even make the post, dipshit?
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Maybe you’re just too stupid to figure it out.
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)

You’re just shocked to run into opinions that don’t line up in lock step with your Doctrinal Statement. I know, the horror of it all. On a Reddit, of all places.
Bubbly-Pirate-3311@reddit
They're kind of cheesy but I'm sure they'll work
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
If you’re a minimalist, yeah. To each their own. But, a lot of veterans fly the American and POW flags – definitely not “cheesy” to them. I do think, too, they probably would work fine on a bike rear rack.
Bubbly-Pirate-3311@reddit
If they have a significance to your life, not cheesy, if you're doing it just cuz, a bit cheesy
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
Extremely significant to me and to most of people in this magnificent country that that beautiful Red, White, Blue flag stands for.
Bubbly-Pirate-3311@reddit
I'm mostly talking about the veteran flag, but I wouldn't fly an American flag with what's going on right now personally
SilverBluePacific@reddit (OP)
You’re entitled your opinion and how you feel about this or anything, for that matter.
