Need help with Ebike, motor not engaging

I just bought an ebike, cane in yesterday, i had to do trips, so got the air filled up, and started riding it to find that the motor isnt engaged. I pretty sure its the sensor, considering i just bought this bike from walmart, so its possible, my question is how to fix it.

You mentioned filling up the air wasn’t this bike assembled by Walmart because if it’s was that should have been done already. Next idea is you don’t mention charging the battery it’s generally shipped with almost no charge maybe enough to turn it on and check the settings so it needs a full charge which usually takes at least a few hours sometimes overnight if it’s a large capacity battery. I do bike building for Target and the reason we don’t assemble the e-bikes is that the charging is required to fully test that everything is adjusted properly especially the brake sensors and the pedal assist. On top of that test rides of all bikes are conducted inside the warehouse of our store and having the motor kick in while riding on a painted concrete floor would be dangerous so corporate decided that we would instruct guests to take them to a bike shop for the assembly. We’re not allowed to use outside to test bikes for obvious reasons insurance doesn’t cover employees working outside the store and then tires will appear used not new. I highly doubt Walmart builds the e-bikes either because the charging takes a long time. If you’re near the Chicago area I’m an avid e-bike rider and I can offer my assistance to check it out no charge if it’s not far from me or you can bring it to me but it will need a fully charged battery.

I did charge it, didnt take too long, it didnt had its air filled so i had to go to the gas station to fill it up. I live in florida orlando so im too far away to take it there.

Ok yeah Florida is to far! Check every electrical cable is fully plugged in and if they have an arrow marked on the housing of round plugs make sure they align with each other because it’s very possible that one isn’t plugged in correctly. If they aren’t seated fully together then you can have a bad connection causing the problem. Brakes are the biggest problem I’ve run across on boxed e-bikes from retailers as I said i build bikes for Target and while it’s usually considered a conflict of interest to do outside work for guests I’ve actually gotten approval from my store director to offer my services off the clock for guests since our local bike shop closed and there’s nobody nearby that does e-bike repair. I’ve found the brakes are never adjusted properly same as all the boxed bikes we build including the brake sensors especially on the schwinn e-bike.

I fixed it, it was the magnetic sensor
jim914@reddit
Cool! Yeah forget about those all the time because I use throttle only on my bike if adjustment is off or not plugged in correctly it doesn’t know your turning the pedal! Good job!
reasonableperson101@reddit (OP)
Thanks, though i wish it was throttled lol

Ill be sure to check it out thanks, first ill do the sensor though, it looks too far away for magnet sensor to work.

I just put together my GF’s Colorway a few weeks ago. It was pretty straightforward. Is the speedometer working?

I fixed it

I dont think it has that

If there are brake sensors, it may be tripping prematurely. Also, just make sure you aren't pulling the brakes. There should be an adjustment, is is more sensitive, out is less sensitive. You want it so when you grab it about 2mm in, it triggers.

I dont believe there a break sensor on it. This is a $500 bike. Ill check in an hour

Look up tektro durado breaks.
reasonableperson101@reddit (OP)
Yeah mine are just regular break pads i think.
AlphaDisconnect@reddit
That's more of a "look for the sensor cable" as seen in the diagram. Your will be standard cable brakes. But there still might be a sensor.
Is there a screen or blinking light or anything giving you feedback? A manual somewhere? A key?
reasonableperson101@reddit (OP)
There a manual, im reading through it now tbh
AlphaDisconnect@reddit
Look at you gentlemen! R.T.F.M. Reading the fubalabaforkforkin manual! Go get em!
