Aventon
greeneagle2022@reddit
My first experience was Radrover D6+ - I gave it away to someone in need (bless their soul for the headach I gave them) because I just wanted it gone. (It took 6 months and about $450 of my own money to get it working after only 9 months of use while under warrenty).
My second bike is an Aventon lvl 2. I am getting ready to hit 1k miles and it has been nothing but great. I still have another year under warrenty also and no problems so far. I use this bike for work, so it is important that it works. That is where RAD let me down.
No_Customer_2396@reddit
this right here...is so weird. nearly my story. I bought Rad Power 6 stepthru and Aventon Lvl2 at same time. delivered same day. its been nearly 2.5 years. my aventon is close to 7K in miles. My Rad? sold it at a loss 6 months after purchase.
About ready to purchase a Level 3.
greeneagle2022@reddit
I wish I would have just scrapped mine before it cost me the extra $450. I think this is when they laid off a lot of people and CS went downhill. They sent me through the mail, probably the equivalent electronics, of just a new bike, in terms of retail price. They could have just sent me a new one, but went on this twisted tail of 'it can be fixed'. It couldn't be fixed.
Electrical_Narwhal55@reddit
Timmy very first Svike was a Radrover⦠its was great, and their support team was nothing but great to deal with. My speedometer stopped working and they sent me a brand new motor with tube, tire, and brake caliper. It was ready to be slapped on and good to go. I ended up just using the original motor and doing without my speedometer. The I had a really really bad accident that ripped my lip open and broke two of my teeth clean in half. My Radrover sat for a little while after that cause I rubbed some wires almost in half. Got that fixed eventually, rode it for about another year and then sold it for about $900 (with a spare Ā battery). Iāve got a Hiboy p7 now and Iām pretty happy with it for the price.
greeneagle2022@reddit
Rad seems to be all over the board with good experiences and bad experiences. I gave the TLDR version. Every component was swapped out, some a few times over (controller the most) and after it seemed fixed, after 200 miles, the motor cuts off mid ride and it isn't reproducable. Can't figure out why it cuts off. When I try to make it cut off to trouble shoot, of course it won't cut off. I just gave it away and said good luck. It was out of warrenty by then.
Electrical_Narwhal55@reddit
Didnāt know that. I thought RAD was one of the best at that price range. I almost bought another one over the Hiboy just because I knew how good their warranty was. Turns out Hiboy is even better about honoring theirs.

Velotric Nomad 1 Plus. Fat tire, suspension, hydraulic brakes, 2y warranty
If you're not mechanically inclined, try to get it from a local dealer if you can
Numerous_Buy_399@reddit
Spend 2700 total and i got you
Numerous_Buy_399@reddit
How old are you?
mellomike5@reddit
I found this at a local sport check. I was looking for an alternate ride, it doesn't have fat tires a long seat or the giant headlight that I'm used to.
RedditTime123S@reddit
Get a ebike kit (like australian ones they are nice) or save up more to get a k5 or surron
TrashAssSwing@reddit
My Cousins R1 Vorsa is dope! I put it together for him.
oldfrancis@reddit
If you already have access to a quality bicycle, you could add a kit to it for right around $1,000 and a couple hours of labor.
The problem with inexpensive e-bikes is that in order to give you the e part of the e-bike they have to cut a lot of corners on the bicycle itself.
LongNFat66@reddit
How fast and far does something like this go?
oldfrancis@reddit
Top speed is just under 30 mph, probably closer to around 25, depending upon the gearing.
It's got an 11.5 amp hour battery and I've seen 20 to 25 mi without a significant loss in battery power.
I have not run the thing dry so I don't know total range.
Reelair@reddit
I just finished building two of these kits. I went with BBS02 500w to keep it legal in my area. They're so much fun, the smile I get riding it makes me feel like a kid again.
All in for the BBS02, a 48V 20AH batter, the used hybrid bike and upgraded chain, cassette, derailleur and shifter cost me about $1750CAD each.
oldfrancis@reddit
That is one of the reasons that I went with a mid-drive.
The other reason is that mid-drive centralizes the weight on the bicycle so I don't have a heavy end, either front or back. A world famous yacht designer was fond of saying, "If you want the thing to handle, get the weight out of the ends."
It applies to bicycles too. :)
claasiic@reddit
yeah youre right. I own an actbest core ST (around $500), and ive had to replace the brake calipers on my bike because the ones that came with it were horrible. Besides that, I've had no issues so far (2000 miles ridden)
Comfortable-Future72@reddit
+1 for building your own with a BAFANG kit.
GQ_Quinobi@reddit
...and parts for repairs should be straight forward.
LordSnugglekins_III@reddit
Aventon will soon release a version of their Aventure fat tire bike that will be mid drive instead of hub drive. Hopefully the price point will be right at 2k. But their current Aventure 3 hub drive is a great choice for a fat tire ebike.
LordSnugglekins_III@reddit
My first question is this: Why do you want fat tires? They were designed for beaches and maybe snow. They add a massive amount of weight and decrease your range. People like fat tires because they look cool or make your bike look like a motorcycle, and those aren't good reasons.
Difficult-Tree8027@reddit
I have a Cyrusher Ranger 2.0 it's a bit over your budget at 2599.00 US. They have the Rover, which is 26x4 fat tire dual suspension. It's on sale right now for 1399.00. So far, I've been really happy with the one I have they also have a standard Ranger. I think it's around 1699.00 check them out on the Cyrusher website. They are a China made bike and have a store in Utah.
ajqiz123@reddit
If you can get up to $2,400.00 Segway Xafari is the new standard for commuter and light off road e-Bikes imho
tigerf117@reddit
$2200 on sale right now too, barely above budget and worth the increase.
Noble_Russkie@reddit
That's 150% of the stated budget, the hell you mean "barely"?
recesq@reddit
ā1500-2000ā You canāt stop reading when itās convenient.
Noble_Russkie@reddit
Yeah that's on me, it was late, I'll take the L here. Glossed over it because the title specified $1500.
frankfurt29@reddit
More so than the Aventonās? Iām interested myself, itās been awhile since Iāve looked into them but it seemed like the Aventure ones were sweet.
squashed377@reddit
I have an Aventon Adventure 2 . Just hit 1100 miles with zero problems so far. It's a blast dirt or street.
Wooden-Tower5414@reddit
Windone e2 is cheap and pretty good!
Personal-Computer424@reddit
If you are able to rent one for a few hours, it would be ideal. Local bike shops carry brands that you could get reliable service and parts when needed. (1) I recommend fat tire ebikes for versatility regarding the various terrain you may encounter. (2) Comfort based on riding style is a consideration. Adjustable stems may be a bigger asset than you can imagine (3) Torque vs. Cadence is going to be an absolute personal choice. The Velotric brand is the only one I'm aware that offers both on their models (4) Ask for the pros and cons of mid drive compared to rear. Where and how you ride makes a difference. (5) Braking efficiency is another question although I think most brands to a good job with it. Get answers to these inquiries as you begin your journey. Happy Riding Family!!
ImMikeJamesB1@reddit
In your budget for a good all around bike I'd look at: Ride1Up Vorsa, Radster Trail or Road(I have the Trail and LOVE IT!!), Aventon Aventure 2 or 3, or the Volectric Nomad 2.
vietc63s@reddit
Jansno best for budget bike.
sick-city-623@reddit
I just got the amyet s6 and it's a great bike if everything is straight when it arrives.
IDidntRollGohan@reddit
Ignore what everyone says. Beat bang for your buck. Tuttio adria 26.
Suspension, dual motor. 5 kw peak. 40-46 mph.
Classic bicyle look. Rear rack to add baggage.
All you need in life is a bike that reliably moves and where you can store things on.
If you're looking for pure joy ride with the bike feel. Torque sensors and middrive ebikes 750w. I never liked those bc way too overpriced. Look up the difference between adria 26 and velotric and aventon.
beholdtheflesh@reddit
All these "what bike should I buy" posts are missing key criteria.
Do you want an e-moto style? e-moped (with pedals but no adjustable seat) style? Do you want it to look like a bicycle? Do you want something with 26" wheels (like a mountain bike or a hybrid bike)? Or 20" wheels (like a bmx bike)? Does it need to fold? Do you want it to be strictly within US legal limits (750W power, Class 2 or Class 3) or do you want something you can unlock and that has more power?
With your budget you can pretty much choose most of those options.
BodSmith54321@reddit
First decide what you want to do with it. Road, light trail, off road. Then figure out what range you need. Generally at that price range I would look at Aventon, Lectric, Velotric or Ride1Up. If any brand is so locally or has an affiliate who will do repair work locally (Lectric) go with that.
An even better option would be to get a new or slightly used mid drive from a name brand on Upway.co that can be serviced in any bike shop.

If you are in Australia, a Pedal āLynxā 3, $2,099 at 99 Bikes. I bought the Lynx 2 about 12 months ago, for road and trail. The 3 has a couple of improvements over the earlier 2. You can also get them in 3 sizes and as a step thru also. Iām looking at the 3 step thru for my wife. Damn good value bike. Good luck š

I bought a Knape aka Hidoes, for 1200 US$. Best Ebike I have ever owened. I have built 3 bafang kits and two from Swytch. If you buy the cheaper 'mail order' ebikes and don't have a mechnical mind, you may have to take your new bike to a shop for tweaking. I bought a Mooncool front wheel drive trike for 1400 US$, it required a lot of tuning to get it rigtht. Handle bar out of aligmnmet, spokes on two wheel need tuning, tires needed remounting, etc. Now I like my Mooncool eTrike very much.
Tip: If you build your own and will ride it in mixed traffic, disc brakes are a MUST. A 750watt motor is a 1 horsepower motor. Your ebike will weigh upwards of 75 lbs. Assuming you weigh in at 125 lbs+, you will need to stop 200-275lbs @ speeds of 20-25mph.
JMarkyBB@reddit
Iāve just last week bought this, itās my pride & joy, & now my favourite thing to get obsessed about, itās really nippy, riding into a headwind is like a knife through butter, its effortless, (The whole point of cycling is to use effort) foldable & itās costing me .20p to charge from empty to full in 3 and half hours.
You can also subscribe to this company to ride certain bikes from there range for £100 a month, with free insurance & upkeep of the bike, after subscription ends, you keep the bike.

Buy two windone bikes. Absolute best bang for your buck IMHO
Which-Finance4119@reddit
If you don't want to pedal much and you wanna go around 50 mph, and you are willing to spend 2500, check out the power goat. My friend has one and it's a great bike. I was a little more thrifty with my purchase of a movcan V30 max (1200) and I wish I wouldn't spent the extra money for a power goat.

I can only recommend what I have experience with so maybe look into getting a Hiboy P6. I have the p7 but you said you like fat tires. If you plan on doing a lot of riding then you would have money left over to buy yourself a spare battery and a balancing kit to allow you to get some serious range. I see someone else mentioned getting a kit. Thatās actually going to be my next move in the future. I plan on getting a decent bike, maybe in the $500 range, and getting a kit with a 72V battery and 5,000 watt hub motor and taking the chain and peddles off⦠gonna put some motorcycle foot pegs on it instead.

Get a nice bike you like, and a conversion kit!
Youāll have enough money for battery, motor, tools, safety, mechanisms, helmet, and protective gear, replacement tires/tubes, and you will learn how to repair your bike yourself :-)
DeadHeadDaddio@reddit
For that budget and style of ebike its probably best to wait for the Solebike SR22 with front and rear suspension to release.
If you cannot wait, the macfox is nice, you can also pick up a ridstar q20 and do some upgrades. The tuttio ict is also solid and msrp's for about $1700

V70 2000 Watts 52v battery 20.4 amp hours on sale at Amazon big fat tires 35 mph throttle only I just bought one still waiting for it I paid 600$ it was 1.300$ but discounted alot of American made ebikes companies are going bankruptĀ I own an ebike from juiced ebikes but went bankrupt American companieĀ

Lots of good deals on ALi Express but be sure to shop around. I spent a lot of time searching companies and found there are tons of them on the internet. The ones that advertise the most tend to have higher prices for the same spec bike you can get somewhere else. Some companies are not found easily but they are out there. Also a lot of companies have their bikes priced at ridiculous prices> If you compare lots of bikes you will be able to find a good one at a fair price. Ali Express even has bikes that ship from U.S. rather then waiting for the slow boat from China. I am sorry I didn't buy from them because they have great prices compared to other U.S. companies and in some cases their bikes are rebranded and price raised by U.S. companies. So start studying a lot before you buy..you tube etc.

ResidentCoder2@reddit
Eahora Juliet. I use it to commute. It's heavy but it lasts AGES with a battery 3 times the average size. And it goes 28mph with pedal and throttle, but it caps at 33. And, it looks just enough like a bike to attract zero attention from local law enforcement. Exactly $1500, too.
funcentric@reddit
That's a decent budget. I'll let others chime in about brands. Just make sure you know whether you want a cadence sensor bike or a torque one. They ride VERY differently. You wouldn't want to get the wrong one for your situation. This is my suggestion on what to look for to decide, https://youtu.be/hYVOXzqTl1Q?si=1m4pLq6RrCMdtW5l
Myles027@reddit (OP)
Thank you had no idea that was a thingš
funcentric@reddit
yes, definitely a thing. Better to get an inferior bike with the right sensor matching your needs than a super cool bike that doesn't have the right sensor for your needs. I'd take a crappy cadence sensor bike over a nicer torque sensor bike any day. I don't want to be reminding constantly that I'm riding a bicycle. I'm an ebiker (who does obey laws) who doesn't like riding bikes. But that's just me.
PenguinMan999@reddit
Iām into e-scooters but you can find a used Kaabo wolf king GT pro or a Nami burn e2 for your budget

You can buy a very nice e-bike with $1500! Electrek reviews e-bikes and I watched many of their videos before deciding on my bike. Knowledge is power.
meapplejak@reddit
You should think about what kind of bike you want before. I like BMX style single speed. Crew dart is the one I have but will you like it? What kind of acoustic bike would you ride?
PGH521@reddit
If you want a great moped style close to your price range look into a roll road Emma 3.0
Away-Revolution2816@reddit
It depends on what style you're looking for. The first place to check would be local bike shops. After that I'd look for companies that partner with local shops for repairs. Some bike shops won't work on certain ebikes.
