fiat 500x is a good car or nah?

It’s my first car. I bought it impulsively because of the design and the brand (I like Fiat). The model is from 2019 and had 80,000 km on it. Is it a good car? It’s been working well for me so far, but I’d like to hear some opinions.

Any Stellantis product is a “no”.

Fix it again Tony?
BlitzShooter@reddit
There's no fixing the idiocrasy the destroyed Jeep, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and RAM
HuskyPurpleDinosaur@reddit
Everyone says that, and yet my 2009 Ram 1500 save for some heavily UV damaged plastics that were cheap to replace from over a decade in Texas summers always parked outside, lasted until 125K miles before it had any major issue which was a slowly failing waterpump/fan-clutch (you could see the fan start to wobble) which cost me one Saturday and $145 to replace since its basically just popping off the belt and undoing a few bolts and putting it back in reverse, just followed a youtube video. Hardest part was just the hassle of draining all the coolant.
And to this day in the family still have a Fiat 500 Turbo with over 100K on it and no issues yet to speak of, other than that the shocks felt a bit worn and so were replaced and otherwise its still on the original clutch.
If you asked Reddit, I should have had a nightmare with both, and nope.
BlitzShooter@reddit
My mother had a Fiat 500. It’s in a junkyard now. The motor snapped its crankshaft 150 miles into a roadtrip and stranded her. Also your RAM was built before absolute retards ran the company.
HuskyPurpleDinosaur@reddit
Or, we could, you know, go by actual data aggregators instead of Reddit groupthink where most stories are either made up BS by 13 year olds that don't even have their driver's licenses yet (this was just exposed in the Nissan Rogue subreddit, one of the kids pretending to be a Nissan mechanic talking about how many transmissions he replaces daily forgot to hide his post history where he had various selfies of himself as a pimply middle-school boy lmao) or something that someone at some point told them.
Consumer Reports April 2025 Issue rates the Ram as highest reliability in category with an overall rating of "above average reliability" and scored higher than the F150 and Sliverado.
In fact, one of the lowest scoring was the TOYOTA Tundra, yet if you ask Reddit, Toyota is always more reliable.
redoctoberz@reddit
Tacoma/tundra are USDM produced products, and only for that market. Unsurprising similar manufacturing issues occurs as other domestic products.
HuskyPurpleDinosaur@reddit
Well, Consumer Reports with their hundreds of thousands of owner surveys is no random Redditor, so you have a good point there.
BlitzShooter@reddit
Sweet summer child. As soon as you referenced the JD Power award, this argument was over.
HuskyPurpleDinosaur@reddit
I didn't mention JD Power, pay attention.
BlitzShooter@reddit
Two sides of the same coin.
HuskyPurpleDinosaur@reddit
WTF are you talking about? I didn't mention JD Power, the other tard did. JD Power accepts money from manufacturers, Consumer Reports doesn't. This isn't a complicated subject.
verdegrrl@reddit
No insults.
redoctoberz@reddit
Not to actually generate the award, but everything beyond that is locked behind a "pay to use" paywall. They can make unlimited awards if they really wanted to.
I think you can see where I'm going with this, no you cannot hand over a check to them to generate an award, but they sure can generate a reward with their "market research" for the most likely candidates who would actually buy it to use in their advertising.

What should i buy an ibiza fr 2025 or fiat 500x?
Imaginary_Act_3956@reddit
It's just a jacked-up Fiat Egea with retro styling.......if the Egea sucks, the 500X sucks too.
BlocboyJBPritzker@reddit
I actually work on Fiats new and old. They are good cars despite the reputation of the brand in the US. The 500X was made in Italy unlike the more common standard 500 model made in Mexico. The build quality shows and we really don’t see these cars much for anything beyond routine service etc
Imaginary_Act_3956@reddit
The 500 in Europe is made in Poland.
Last_Upstairs39@reddit
I’m looking at a 2016 500x trekking plus with 64k miles for around 9k. I need to ask for the carfax, if it comes back clean is this a good buy? I’d only use it locally to run errands.

I currently own a Fiat 500x 2017 Trekking. Bought it used with 121k miles on it. I bought it last year [Sept 2024] This car was poorly maintained. It was used for Executive transportation [Since it's got character]
I bought it and started driving it. Then realised the battery was bad and it was the factory one. Had to change it. So then I thought, if the battery was original, after more than 6 years of going around, was else is original?
The Air filters never been changed, spark plugs, oil and breaks. All common things to do on a car.
Then, the serpentine belt snapped [Probably original] and messed up my alternator pulley. Had to replace alternator.
Now, new battery, new serpentine belt, new alternator, new spark plugs, new oil, and new breaks.
As long as the engine runs smoothly and the transmission is fine. You got yourself a great car. But... if you want to save money, you WILL have to learn how to make some service maintenance on your own.
FIATs are great cars. And don't listen to the old 1980's FIAT rep that they are bad cars. FIAT is part of Stellantins. The Fiat 500x is the same car as a Jeep Renegade. So, if a fiat sucks, so does a Jeep Renegade. But jeep renegades don't suck. That's just BRAND Bias.
My fiat's engine, transmission and suspension and in printing condition. I live in Los Angeles so, no snow, no salty roads, no rust. Just take care of your car. Not different from a horse.
Imaginary_Act_3956@reddit
The Renegade is a big POS.

I've had a fiat 500x sport since February 2020. Bought it new. Pretty faultless. It's had 2 sets of front tyres...and a fiat annual service. Couple of niggles common to FCA products. DAB radio stops..it's the Ariel base. Cheap fix. Stop start....will stop but a good battery charge annually sorts it. No idea the myth of unreliable.....
V4refugee@reddit
I googled least reliable used cars earlier and this came up as a top result.

It's fine. Not amazing, but at least it's interesting.
jabbadarth@reddit
Except the most important thing...reliability.
Lots of electrical problems which can be a nightmare to get fixed as well as a bad transmission.
magus-21@reddit
It has more than average, but in the grand scheme of things it's...fine.
Mind you, I've daily driven a Fiat 500 (not a 500X), which is even worse. But it was interesting, which did help make me more attached to it.

You are about to find out how expensive impulse buys can be. Best of luck
Jumpy_Childhood7548@reddit
No, they are not reliable.
ZSG13@reddit
Hell no.

You bought the car, you're using the car, it's working well for you - why are you asking this question?
Cautious-Concept457@reddit
Engine (cc, HP), gearbox (manual or auto)?
xftwitch@reddit
Sadly, any Stelantis product (Fiat, Alpha Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Maserati - There are others, but not in America) are terrible cars for reliability. The 500 isn't the bottom of the barrel, and at least is not super expensive to fix. This may be your opportunity to get handy fixing cars. Is it a Manual or an Automatic? Manuals are more reliable.
jabbadarth@reddit
It's insane that one company has bought up almost every notoriously unreliable vehicle brand and then somehow made each and every one of them worse.
lunarc@reddit
Buddy has an Abarth (way different in all the ways), but it's been a good car for him. He bought it new, and now has 120k miles with minimal issues.
trashking11@reddit
They are cool and fun to drive but generally not super reliable long term. If it were me, I’d get rid of it before the mileage gets too high. But probably not a bad car to drive around for a year or two in the meantime. But frankly they have a pretty rough reliability record

BlitzShooter@reddit
FIX IT AGAIN, TONY! It's alright but I wouldn't hold on to it for long if you can afford to switch into something that won't spend more time in the shop than on the road. Post 2014 Mini Coopers use pretty robust N26 and B48 motors that are pretty reliable. If that's the look you're going for it's something to consider.
