My greatest Plano regret is giving up my OG Plano library card from the 90s.

It had the old City of Plano Logo which was red white and blue. One of the librarians asked me if I wanted a new one a few years ago and I stupidly said yes and the new one just doesnt hit the same and I have a new card number now too 😭
Luckily I still remember my old library card number and my OG rec center card from the 00s. It's all I have left. thanks for coming to my tedx talk.

My Plano library card was blue cardstock paper with a little metal tab on it with my “number”

I still use the blue card. It only scans at the checkout about 50% of the time, but I have the number memorized by this point and am too lazy to get a new one.

It was in this style (from Google search)https://www.pinterest.com/pin/library-cards-with-metal-plates--94083079687889719/

I still have a blue laminated one from probably around 1994 that doesn’t have Parr library listed on it. Now that you can checkout via the app, I don’t carry it with me anymore.

someone drop a pic I have never seen these.

My card’s so old the only libraries listed on it are Harrington and Schimelpfenig. It’s probably from the mid 80’s, and I’m kind of surprised they hadn’t improved the cards by 1994.

what year was this from. this makes me feel slightly less bad.

I still have my kids OG Plano library cards — complete with signatures from when they were little kids. No I am not a hoarder.

I've still got mine from 2005. I stopped using it and switched to the one on the app because the librarians keep trying to get me to swap it out 😂
Definitely seen better days

Damn this just took me back to the one I had as a kid. You can go anywhere with a library card!!

That's the one I had! seems my memory was bad, wasn't a city of Plano logo. I let a woman mag me and now my library card is gone 🥲.
Stand firm kings. dont fall for the Plano library lady trap.

Glad I could unintentionally help!
Were you picturing the other side maybe?
Key-Lecture-678@reddit (OP)
no, just hazy memories. but it's nice to see this again. even the font is very late 90s.

I have that one! I love it. Never getting rid of it.

Is this the one you're talking about? I know I haven't changed it out in forever and my number still works....

I freaking love the libraries here and wish more ppl would enjoy, like, meeting up there to do fun stuff, learn, and collaborate. Hell you can even grab a private room and play cards or board games with a few ppl if that's what you want...free but you have to reserve them usually (there are always tons of open spots)... Get together and make apps or interesting ideas together and teach each other what you know, learn together, and it's some of the best satisfaction! I for one am always looking for ppl to meet with who just want to be creative and learn...doesn't matter what you know as long as you're willing. There is so much awesome tech out there now that is so easy, like coding whole apps with just chatting with AI, or making amazing multi-AI agent apps that can talk to each other and work together... If y'all are interested in anything remotely like that, let me know! I would love to show anyone! And then we can make something for a hackathon competition together! 😁

nope. mine was white with no photos and just had a City of Plano logo, the old one before the star gained the weird streaks and they changed the shade of red and blue.

Ha, my mom went to check out a book for the first time in decades. She handed over her 1992 library card. Everyone just laughed and she got a new one. I don’t know what she did with the old one.

back in my day in Plano the computers they had were these weird ones with orange text.
If anybody knows any more about these mystery computers Id be grateful to learn more.
