PHP/MySQL reddit alternative?

I want to go with what I know best and that's php/mysql.
I've done a little research and I haven't quickly found one.
I don't care about it being federated or whatever, I just want to be able to run a website where people can make their own communities.
Do you know of any software packages out there?

I’m using Invision Community’s clubs feature to do something similar with Fan Clubs.

I see, I didn't know Invision had that feature.

What about XMPP

Isn't Xenforo more of a bulletin board?

I'm not entirely sure, that could be right. Below is an official link to a video about Xenforo, (should explain more then I can) and a link to an official apple app. They had a link to a Google play app, but it's not on the play store anymore unfortunately:

Definitely look into Mbin. Don't know what variant of SQL it uses, but it definitely uses PHP. The devs mainly talk on Matrix afaik.

Kbin and its forks?

Xenforo runs on php/mysql as does Invision Community and Mybb & Smf. Flarum is also good for running a forum along with Woltlab.
If you’re looking for software that’s federated, then Discourse or Nodebb would work well, however, they don’t use php/mysql.
