I got an offer from JPmorgan Chase and will be moving to Plano around this month end. Considering I dont have a car, i was looking for the best options to rent an apartment. I dont mind living alone or sharing with a female. Some people suggested Windsor Metro West- any views/ recos?

Use DART + Uber share It is cheaper that owning a car
Excellent_Cost170@reddit
It is possible to live without a car in Plano by using DART

It’s totally doable. I would look at the Wateredge Apartments or Echelon at Lakeside. Both of these are right across from the HEB which would help with groceries.
It’s a 20min public transit route on the Blue bus from both of those apartments to JP Morgan campus & there’s a bus stop in front of each apartment complex that I name. $3 each way so keep that in mind.

You should talk to Tanya Sanchez - she has worked with several JPMC employees relocating to Plano. She is a real estate agent and knows all the best and closest apartments to the campus. She can give you an idea of pricing and can negotiate for you to get 1 or 2 months free rent - I highly recommend talking to her! Her number is 214-705-5165

Like others have said, you’re going to have a really hard time without a car. If you were in Downtown Dallas, it would be different. I know a few without cars that live, work in Dallas.
Plano is a different ball game, you’ll need a car or budget for ride share.

Honestly with these prices, just get a car. Outside of legal/medical reasons, I cannot make the math work for regular rides hare. That said, I've also seen how nuts the used car market is in our great orange nation.

Not having a car and living in Plano/DFW is going to be really hard.

Getting around Plano without a car is so much more doable than anyone thinks it is. Especially if you pick the right place to live.
Source: I have traveled all around Plano (and Dallas/other suburbs) without using one

Living without a car is not this impossible thing r/Plano thinks it is. I have traveled all around Plano without a car. Really, it's more doable than anyone thinks. You will have bus service in your neighborhood, and it's also fairly walkable. You may or may not want a car eventually, but I promise you that you will be fine, especially since you are just starting out and you can literally walk to your work.
I would maybe consider an apartment closer to legacy drive, so you can utilize the bus route 254 and 234 more easily but that's your call to make. You are still like a 15 minute walk from those buses, and you are right next to the route 241.
DART has a service called GoLink, and it is essentially an Uber type service for the price of a bus pass. It's used a lot in Plano, and you can travel the entire northern half of the city with it.
You will be fine, you have plenty of shopping and dining nearby and there are transportation options for you.

Hey! Are you still looking for a roommate? 24f also working a corporate job in plano.

So technically… you could live in one of the apartments in downtown Plano.. the dart is right there and there’s a farmers market grocery store also there.
That being said, I agree w most here in saying your life will be infinitely easier w a car.
TexasLiz1@reddit
The DART does not go anywhere near the Plano JPMC campus.

The problem is that OP works on the other side of Plano.

Get an e-bike.
No, seriously. Plano is weirdly bikeable. Find yourself a class 3 e-bike that can take a trailer and, if you take an apartment there at Legacy West (or North, or Village, or the high rise, or the apartments across the street, pick one), it’s fairly easy to get to Arbor Hills, to the library over on Windhaven, and to the DART West Plano bus terminal.
Maybe also invest in an e-scooter for short trips.

Just heed the warnings and look at the big picture whenever moving somewhere for a job. This is not an area to be carless in. Its a suburb city meant for families
Not only that its JPMC which is notoriously laying people off.

Plano is very expensive to live in.

Search, as this has been answered quite a bit in the last few months.

Hmm. Texas and no car?
You can use the old investment banking fresher trick.
Get a set of clothes in a small suitcase and a sleeping bag. Sleep under your desk after work and for laundry use the pick and drop service.
Cost and time effective.

I have a coworker who moved here without a car. There’s an apartment complex across the street from the JPMC campus. He had a bike to do short trips over to legacy west or whatever. Groceries you can get delivered until you figure out the car situation.
MavSker@reddit
Windsor Metro West is probably your best bet if pure work to home convenience is most important to you. Like others have said, it'll be tough to get around this city without a car but most grocery stores have delivery services now and I believe there are a few convenience stores in the Legacy West area to at least get bare essentials if needed. If you end up there, you'd also have plenty of walkable restaurants nearby, although these are not the cheapest parts of town.

As close to the office as you can get

You need to consider getting a car in DFW.
