Trijicon RMR HD or SRO for strictly home defense firearm?

Hey, need some advice from you guys. This will be used strictly on my 9mm pistol that close at hand when we go to bed.
I’ve been doing some homework and if this was for an EDC pistol, I would have went with RMR HD, but for strictly in case of an emergency, home defense use, I think I’m better of with the SRO. Can anyone chime in with their experience or opinion. Thanks in advance.
- this is not my pic.

Iron sights form home defense.

I wouldn’t spend that much on an optic which is relegated to a bedside gun. I feel like a Holosun 507comp or vortex defender would be perfect in this situation.

Ease of target aquisition, and overall shootability & manueverability should be your top priorities. With that being said I can't recommend getting a dedicated pcc setup for home defense enough. If that's not an option then SRO.
RMR HD's added durability isn't needed for home defense if all it's doing is going from your nightstand to camping in a corner. Another thing to consider is how much money you want to invest into a setup that's primary role is ultimately (temporarily hopefully) fed confisction.

SRO adds the capability to adjust the dot based on a forward looking sensor. That is a big deal in changing lighting environment, such as your home with a flashlight.
The SRO will shine on a range in a controlled environment, the RMR is more capable in likely defensive use.

Neither.
Get a gun with a stock/brace, sling, flashlight, and throw a T2 on it.
PoliteRAPiER@reddit
While I agree with the stock/brace, sling, flashlight part I think T2 is overkill for a dedicated home defense setup. Duty RDS would more than fit the bill for half of the cost.
No_Promises7@reddit
That's fair. You can get one for sub $700 with a good deal, which is within the RMR HD's price range, but a duty RDS would more than suffice.

I think most people overthink durability. SRO is fine for carry or home defense.

Agreed. I have an SRO on one of my pistols, I won’t pretend it sees any properly hard use, however it still seems to be a robust and dependable optic.

Rmr hd is my choice. Its more durable. I very much like the auto brightness for use with a wml.

RMR HD, I only recommend SRO for range/competition use

Sro is nice in use.

Battery life aside, what's your guys opinion on the RMR HD vs the Delta Point Pro
Outrageous-Basis-106@reddit
My thoughts. If you do the SRO, do the 5 MOA but I have a feeling the RMR HD wins out by a bit if for no other reason then "I'm not awake" while running it with the outer circle.

Rmr

Sounds like you’re already familiar with the RMR HD. Functionally it’s a wash between these two, but if any of the advanced programming of the HD would be useful for home defense I would lean that direction. Otherwise probably SRO.
Veetordik@reddit
You kind of answered your own question. If the RMR would be on an EDC of your choice, and odds are, that’s the higher chance you’d have to actually draw your weapon in a dire situation, why would that not apply to your HD scenario? Correct me if I’m wrong but SRO was made around the competition shooter in mind. RMR is full on duty hardened and proven. Both are dots and reliable. Buy the one that you like more and train with it. You’re thinking too hard on this brother.

Forgot to mention, I already have RMR HD on my full size EDC, have a regular RMR on sub compact, my bad.

It’s always been my issue, I overthink everything.

Biggest window.
