Born a U.S Citizen but returning to US after 15 years of living abroad. Should I be worried about my citizenship/safety with all this happening?

I was born a US citizen and my parents were both once green card holders but not anymore.
We moved out of the states and lived in Korea for 15 years now. I am now transferring to a university in the states but I am so worried due to everything going on with the administration right now. and the school that I'm transferring to is Columbia so that doesn't make it better :(
Is there anything I should be careful about or any documents/papers that I should know about? Just any precautions in general before I move out to the States? Although my situation is much better than other immigrants or international students but my parents and I are very worried.

If all your paperwork is in order, you should have no problems. Contrary to the hysteria in the media and on Reddit, they are not going after tourists or immigrants and especially not citizens. In fact, the vast majority of the illegal aliens they’re going after our hardened criminals.

Numerous documented cases show that ICE has detained U.S. citizens and legal residents, often due to mistaken identity or racial profiling. The idea that immigration enforcement only targets “hardened criminals” and "illegal aliens" is not only inaccurate but also reinforces racialized assumptions about who belongs. My parents were once immigrants and I know more than anyone that most immigrants are just trying to make a peaceful living and contribute to the country, not the opposite way around. Please be respectful.

How exactly was I being disrespectful? If you want respect, anyway, you should be honest and intelligent. Detaining somebody by mistake is not the same as targeting them. And detaining somebody’s not the same as deporting them.
You’re only adding to the hysteria and you’re not helping the situation any by promoting these lies and fierce. We have enough divisiveness in this country without people like you adding fuel to the fire. Why don’t you try being respectful?

You’re calling the president of the United States that was elected by a plurality a Nazi. I don’t think you understand the meaning of the word respect. You’re also lying. You said they’re being deported. Being detained is dramatically different from being deported. And you’re saying that harden criminals aren’t the only ones being targeted and accidentally detaining. Someone is not the same as targeting them.Tourists are not being targeted and citizens are not being targeted and neither is being deported. Why don’t you try being honest if you want any respect

Just don't come over with a real dark tan. That might get you flagged in the system.

You’re all set bro
TBHICouldComplain@reddit
Good. You’ll definitely have an easier time with a US passport that’s not expired.

thanks a lot! that's good to hear

Just plan extra time for your arrival, in case they have lots of questions for you. Don’t try to sneak anything in your luggage, even if you think it’s innocent (eg, foods that aren’t allowed, undeclared valuable, meds you don’t have a prescription for). As a citizen, you have a lot more protection than green card holders. If you are not Caucasian, I’d carry a copy of your passport

I'd suggest getting a passport card you can keep in your wallet.
