Suggestions for alternatives without being left captured

I don't think there is going to be a place that removed politics, but I am a little tired of being banned because I'm not left enough. All I want is to find a place that has a "sub-reddit for everything" feel that isn't 98% captured by either side. Any suggestions?
AssistantOld2973@reddit
Hey, have you taken a moment to reflect on why you might be getting banned? It might not be because of some broad "left-wing ideology" it could be that some of your views are coming across as extreme or even harmful. I looked through your post history, and honestly, some of what you've said does raise concerns.
You are into nerdy stuff, like you play Dungeons and Dragons. So I know you're smart & white, and nerdy. but c'mon when it comes to obvious topics where there is a clear moral line, like masked thugs detaining American Citizens your support of ideas like forced detention of legal residents. That kind of stance isn't just controversial, it's fundamentally at odds with basic rights.
Reddit isn't some far-left echo chamber. If anything, it's a mix lots of centrists, moderates, and folks from all sides. You might just be misreading the room. And just to be clear, I’m white too but based on what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t exactly feel comfortable inviting you to the BBQ either.
Just offering some perspective. Maybe take a step back and really consider why you're getting pushback.

"What's water?" asked the fish.
I'm not saying there aren't pockets of dissenting political opinion on reddit, but it is, broadly speaking, a leftist echo chamber. You have to go out of your way to not be inundated with leftist political opinions constantly. On ostensibly non-political subs, I mean. You may not notice it because you can't distinguish between a leftist opinion and the truth but people who aren't entirely captured by leftist ideology do notice it because it's a constant irritant.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Exactly. Honestly I don't even mind the vocal left. If I could design the perfect system both sides speak as loud as they want. The real issue is the banning of people on the right (generally speaking) so that it becomes an echo chamber with only one side speaking. When that dissenting voice does speak up you see that voice called evil for being different (by the side championing "diversity" ironically enough)

Cry me a fucking river.
Downtown-Instance618@reddit
this place is crazy, bud. one guy called me anti-Semite because I said that both the left and the right where nuts.

Welcome to Reddit :D
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
I have indeed. I've not broken any rules of the sub reddits. I've also reached out both times it happened. One replied that is was for racism when asking what race someone was playing in a fantasy game.
The other time they refused to even reply with a reason. Reddit is known to be very captured by the left and that is not my political view. It's known for it's censorship of ideas it does not agree with in many cases and I've seen that too. You can say it's not an echo chamber, but it is well known to be left to far left depending on the sub-reddit and banning those who don't agree or at least fall in line.
I've looked at what I said and I am fine having a different point of view. Banning someone who is fallowing all of the listed rules of both reddit and the sub-reddit due to not liking they have a different political view than you isn't something I need to review.
spdorsey@reddit
Not sure why you are being downvoted. I personally disagree with your viewpoints, but you are asking a clear question and others are letting your personal alignment get in the way of an answer.
I am a very liberal person at heart, and I am also looking for a new place to browse. Much of what you say about Reddit (banning and chastising for reasons not listed in a sub's rules) is true. Mods are often power hungry or just give off the wrong impression about their moderation.
I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately. I'm still looking for a new place. I'm hoping the new Digg is better, but we are a long way from seeing that come to fruition.
Good luck.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
It's kind of the standard here, unfortunately. I used to be on the center but more left than right, but I have noticed a lot of the left has become more zealot-like. "You're with us, or against us" or "If you don't velieve what we believe, you're evil" kinda things. I can't really get behind that way of thinking and started to disagree with the points that the left seems to focus on.... sadly, it just is what it is at this point for a lot of social media sites.
Echo chambers are a horrible thing for either side, but it is easier to attack the person and make it personal instead of attacking the point. Same with the view-point of anyone working with / for or agreeing with Trump is evil [see Elon going from champion of the environment to "that nazi"]. I will say the same with people who say Trump is all good and I disagree with them too. Hell even your post got down-voted for having an even keel and personable tone toward "someone like me".
I hope we all can move back toward "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" and people judged by their actions instead of their political leaning or color of skin or sexual orientation. I really appreciate you acting like a decent human. I may disagree with you politically, but the world could use more people like you!
wwsaaa@reddit
Your political affiliation really shouldn’t have anything to do with which people you find annoying Perhaps try to determine what you believe and why, and then affiliate with the groups more likely to support your ideas
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
But I don't want another echo chamber. I'd rather work toward a world where people work together even if they don't agree with you. Segregation is a horrible thing no matter what line in the sand you draw. Political, racial, etc I'd rather have a diverse range of people around me instead of just those who are like me in some way or another, because even those people I will agree with on some things and not others.
SallyStranger@reddit
Open source, crowd-funded social media are fundamentally opposed to right wing ideology. Cry about it, or just use one of the many billionaire-owned platforms like a good little bootlicker.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Nah, crying doesn't solve much, so I would rather look for a solution. I get that you and others are against diversity, but I would rather find a place where people can disagree without resorting to name calling like a 1st grader. Have a good one
SallyStranger@reddit
The solution is to have less repugnant views.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Sure thing, sweetheart. Agree with you or be evil, got it.
SallyStranger@reddit
If the shoe fits...
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
If any view that opposes yours is evil and you're going to say the majority of american voters are evil that just seems like a zealots view. You believe what you like and I will do the same. Believe it or not, we can both exist. Have a good one
eccsoheccsseven@reddit
https://goatmatrix.net
It's not left captured. It doesn't have sub mods. I'm the only moderator and optionally my co-admins if I need them for that (but I don't). Technically it has every sub because subs are more like hashtags. You can post to anywhere you want. Some topics could use some filling in.
You can see which subs are the most active here: https://goatmatrix.net/substats
eepy_boi@reddit
I feel for you, man. I wonder why some of the people who browse this sub are even here considering how they're just as biased and unfriendly as the rest of this shit site.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Eh, sadly used to it by now. Asking for a reddit alt on the reddit alt sub-reddit isn't complete without being reminded I am evil for not being left enough 😬
Same reason why I left the left in the first place, but I wish them no ill will. They think they are being good people in their own way
Downtown-Instance618@reddit
it is okay friend I get your struggle. I am more of a centrist, I guess. I just understand the state and corporations don't care about people.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Same on center and it's citizens verse gov and often corps.
kdjfsk@reddit
What i do is just don't participate in political subs or posts.
I use reddit for niche stuff like models of cars i own and hobbies where politics rarely rears its head.
Its true that over time, any sub that gets popular to some threshhold gets taken over. Subs about totally non-political funny memes eventually get taken over by bots, operative, hivemind, or whatever one day is suddenly all-politics, all-the-time, and at that point i just stop participating.
I use RES extension which lets me block entire subreddits, as well as block posts and subs by keyword.
I block all the popular politicians names (either side), and international ones, as well as names of organizations or whole countries.
Its not that i dont care about these topics, i just rather get news about them elsewhere, not on reddit...so trump, biden, vance, kamala, musk, putin, ukraine, israel, ICE, DOGE, etc all get blocked on reddit.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
I got blocked from a dungeons & dragons sub-reddit because I asked what race [human, dwarf, elf, etc] someone's character was going to be... I am kinda just done lol
I also don't mind a good political debate. I do mind however being banned from another reddit for calling someone "fucking crazy" when they were praying for ice and police deaths
AssistantOld2973@reddit
11 people have died in ICE custody since the beginning of the year. You never know what someone is going through. You tend to talk a lot about religion I notice as well, but claim atheism. At this point, you might just be a troll. You're complaining about someone praying for the deaths of others, while you actively chant people on that are literally pointing guns at American citizens and walking around with masks on effectively acting as terrorists. Having a debate with you would be utterly pointless. Go join a Right-Wing echo chamber and stop whining like a child. Play with your board games and let the adults deal with things.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Yeah. This is a great example of reddit being reddit!
habarnam@reddit
See this right here? This is why people don't want to keep talking to you. Whataboutism about people dying is not OK.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
yes how dare I ask questions to get to the bottom of things. Saying 11 people who shot at police were shot back is NOT the same as 11 innocent people who were just walking down the street. Questions need answers to have perspective, unless you're lying by omission and hoping no one looks deeper.
habarnam@reddit
Dude, the answers to those questions is irrelevant if you have anything resembling empathy for other human beings. One death does not justify another. Protesting should not get you killed. Unless an investigation actually shows that indeed those people shot at the police as a decent human being the default reaction should be that they didn't deserve it, and the killers should be at least investigated.
And this is before taking into account the ethical considerations granted by the first amendment that citizens can lawfully oppose their government with guns when they feel like it overreaches its power.
Another tip for you: if nobody but you is "asking questions", ask yourself why. And maybe consider for one second that there's a different answer than wanting to "lie by omission". Maybe there's a perspective that makes the questions irrelevant. Ask yourself that.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
So if 11 people opened fire on inmocent us citizens and ice took them out thay is the same as ice taking out innocent people just walking down the street? Irrelevant isn't exactly fitting in my view. Facts matter
habarnam@reddit
Until proven in a court of law one way or another, yes, they are the same. When people die, the perpetrators need to be accountable. And speaking of facts, do you have them? Or are you still "just asking questions".
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
So your 11 dead was never proven yet your using it? What a lovely point you almost had
habarnam@reddit
Oh, I have no idea about 11 people or anything. You were the one that brought it up, "asking questions" as if they deserved to shot at, or even killed.
I'm going to stop replying now. It's obvious that despite being confronted with what is wrong with your discourse, and with reasons on why you keep getting banned, you don't really have any intention on reflecting on, or correcting your behaviour.
AssistantOld2973@reddit
uh-huh
kdjfsk@reddit
As cool as dnd can be, im not a fan of the majority of players, so stick to dnd type of video games for scratch the itch.
As for people calling for violence and doxxing/witch hunting, instead of commenting on it, ill just report it. Since reddit had its IPO and is now hyper focused on profits, being safe for advertisers, and avoiding lawsuits, they have actually become less biased and will enforce reports for those issues as it is the policy, and now people are paid to strictly enforce it. Just report it and move on.
Saint-Blasphemy@reddit (OP)
Depends on the players and the DM, honestly. There are a fair few that are not good people on any level. However as the DM I establish early on that I do not put up with certain behaviors and have kicked plenty of people. That said some people don't have the social batyery for it, or it is just not their jam.
Reddit yes, but the sub reddits not at all. They live in their own world and have a lot of zealot views accepted while not allowing the other side at all. I reported the hoping for police deaths and that was not found to be a problem because ... Reddit
LifeIsBetterDrunk@reddit
You cant post in pcgaming if youre right wing. So...
kdjfsk@reddit
Correct!
Right, so thats a good example. I dont participate in that sub, but that doesnt mean i cant talk about PC games.
Ill just find smaller, less politicized subs, like /r/steam, or /r/steamdeck, as thats the device i play on. Another thing i do is just find the subs for specific games. Since new games come out all the time, they always start small, and its harder for these powermod cabal people to fuck them up. So i just sub to /r/darkestdungeon, /r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/, /r/rimworld or whatever game it is.
Game subreddits also tend to fizz out and stop growing once the game passes its peak popularity and people go play other stuff.
Game specific subs usually have no politics and instead discuss strategies, tactics, game mechanics, features, etc. This is even more true for non dnd-type of games like rocket league, kerbal space program, or whatever.
