Question about Cabela’s gun library

I know buying guns from Cabela's is a royal pain. I did stumble on one that I want, for what I feel is a decent price.
My question. What type of condition are the guns in, do they sell poorly maintained guns or ones that won't fire and not be upfront about it?

condition is hit or miss. My main complaint with Cabelas and Bass Pro is that they pretty much refuse to hand you a gun in a way you can do a proper function check and pre purchase inspection. Some of the guns I've seen that are older may have some pitting, blueing or other finish wear. I know Scheels will actually test fire anything that they sell prior to buying it and putting it on the floor. I don't think Cabelas or Scheels does. My main complaint with Cabelas and their pricing is that they tend to be pretty proud of their inventory. They will entertain offers though.

It's whatever came in used, maybe, maybe, they'll look it over and do a function test, but they're not going to test fire or rehab an unmaintained gun.

This is a check the gun out yourself kinda thing. I know someone who bought a busted gun from Cabela's and I know several people that bought great guns from them.

This makes the most sense. I got a mosin (paid way too much for it) and while it looked good, had Devil’s cum (cosmoline) all inside it. Was a bitch to clean. Even after I thought it was all out, it still gummed up my gun (had to smack the bolt open after firing). So as it is with buying milsurp, caveat emptor.
Now if op is getting a new-ish gun, should be fine, they treat them about as well as most big box gunstores.

Cosmiline is a bitch to get out. I like to clean it off on a hot summer day in the driveway with hot water, soap and brake cleaner. Yet I always miss some somewhere.
