Question about selling handgun

Hey all! I am selling my husbands Canik TP9SF Handgun. I've been told my options are pawn shops, gun shops and private sales. I am wanting to sell it fast. Is there a pro/con of doing a pawn shop sale over gun shop or vice versa? Where would I get the best value? Also, could I call and ask or is that something they can't really discuss over the phone?

Depending on where you live, if that pistol is registered to him and not you then you can't sell it without committing a crime. If this is a situation where he has threatened you and you fear for your life you can turn it in at a police station and file a report. Do not just walk in with it, leave it in your vehicle or a bag and call the department from outside. An officer will be sent out to retrieve it for you.

Its not that at all! But I appreciate your advice! He passed away and im not the gun enthusiast he was. I've sold all but this one (to friends and family with the help of a ffl) but this is the last od the collection to go.

Oh, I'm sorry. "Selling husband's gun" and "want it gone fast" had me thinking something different. I'm sorry for your loss. If you just need it gone and you are the executor of the estate you should have no problem bringing it to any gun store that buys used guns. You won't get much for a TP9SF, probably around $150-$200 even if you have the original box and everything it came with.

Gun shops will generally offer 50% of expected resale value. That's a $400 pistol new, worth maybe $300 used, so expect $150 or so, maybe less.
A pawn shop might offer $100.
If you do a private sale, have a local gun shop do the transfer. In some states this is required, but even if not required it's a good idea.
Also, if it's your husband's gun, and if you are in a state which requires that handguns are registered, that's another potential complication.

Go online to webuyguns, cashforarms and cashmyguns to sell them. There are several other online places to sell guns but these worked for me. Each has a similar process and will give you fair market price.
