Would anyone have any suggestions to help?

I have this 1950 Chevy Styleline Deluxe I’ve had it for a while, been struggling to get it started since. Wondering if it could be an electrical issue? Been told it may be the timing but I am unsure. Any sort of help would be really helpful I wanna help get this done for someone but it’s just been a while

Vapor lock. Your carburator has been incarcerated and deported to Honduras.
Chauncy1911@reddit
I not a mechanic, but I would, after all else fails, put a carb on it just as a Hail Mary last ditch effort.
Infinite-Plane9084@reddit
Sounds like your starter is junk and the timing is too advanced.
Assswordsmantetsuo@reddit
Or….the complete lack of a carburetor
Infinite-Plane9084@reddit
ive run plenty of engines without a carb.
russiansloth@reddit
Agreed, it sounds like an old dying starter.. i would also check the coil, voltage regulator, and cold cranking amps on the battery.

Aha, your fuel pump isn't pumping fuel, and you need to aim the fuel line down the intake like so

That was freaking awesome 👍

Just set up a drip hose from a gas can strapped to the hood and run it to the intake - maybe add a petcock so you can adjust the flow for when you want to accelerate. Or just setup a carburetor?

Umm I think you're probably having a spark issue, well just make a huge like really big assumption that you are all set with your fuel and carb so it's going to be your spark, needs to be gapped right.

What’s that hose supposed to be connected to?
Ok_Education6280@reddit (OP)
That line is suppose to be connected to the carburetor but the seat isn’t good on the carburetor
trivletrav@reddit
So how are you going to get a correct fuel/air mix to start the engine without a carb?
WomenzRightsLoL@reddit
I mean if he had the timing right, compression, and spark, it would still run on starter fluid, probably poorly. I have driven cars into the shop from the parking lot with a gas soaked rag on the intake manifold.
Handmedownfords@reddit
Alright, now that is some redneck engineering. I love it
Downtown-Ant1@reddit
And you think you don't need fuel to start an engine??
Klo187@reddit
I see what’s wrong, it ain’t got no gas in it.
Or a carby
AweeeWoo@reddit
I immediately thought about a battery or a starter but then I noticed the absence of a carburettor, it had literally zero petrol in it 😭😭😭

The carbureter is missing.
Far-Wave-821@reddit
You do realize theres no carburetor….
Spiritual-Slip-8309@reddit
I see the problem. That's missing an Ls swap. It's not running because you don't have an Ls in it.
TunaOnWytNoCrust@reddit
No fuel coming out, fuel pump is clogged and/or bad. You won't start shit without a carburetor. You should ensure that you have spark at all, attach a carburetor, and spray starting fluid in it to see if you fire at all. Then circle back to us for more advice.
publix_subs@reddit
Get the starter rebuilt, throw in an 8v battery in place of the 6v unless you want to do a full 12v conversion. Put some new battery cables on too.b
Professional_Bike336@reddit
Where is the carburetor? It will never start without it
Longjumping_Drag2752@reddit
New starter is needed. Also possibly convert the whole thing to 12v since it’s a 1950 it’s definitely a 6v system. 12 volt will start easier (along with a new starter)
ownerofthedimmadomes@reddit
Need fuel air and compression. Check the plugs to see if you have spark when turning it, put your carb on, add fuel and see if it hits on any cylinder. If not than dig into timing/TDC.
imsadyoubitch@reddit
Ain't got no carb in it
galaxy548@reddit
Brother, you are missing your carburetor. It quite literally aint got no gas in it.
