Every german I have ever talked to in english barely knew how to put one single phrase together correctly. This is so ass lmao. As far for Albanians, we literally get praised for how good we speak english and how literally everyone except for the old generation speaks it.
I had to speak Serbian in Sofia and Bratislava in order to be understood as people couldn't understand when I spoke English. In Romania, since it ain't Slavic, i had to use hands only.
I spoke only english in Bratislava and most of the people can understand me, but in Budapest i had to use hands because nobody can speak english there, and both Slovakia and Hungary have similar scores.
This explains why the Dutch woman I asked for directions acted offended when I asked if she spoke English but still couldn't read a map of her own city.

I don’t know why Germany always scores so highly in English proficiency. It just isn’t true lol, even amongst the younger generation

Even turkey is acceptable but why fr*nce is that low?

I doubt this map is true.
kiki885@reddit
No way this map is true. Most Serbs speak English to some degree, and Hungarians even in Budapest can't speak English for shit.

The statistics are dogshite. Try speaking English in the south of Belgium, that’s going to be a great adventure.

English is pretty widely spoken in Albania. Ask the expat community if you don't believe me
beggs23k@reddit
This will change very soon, in 20 years everyone will speak base English. The young generation is pretty good in English from what Ive seen.
Travelmusicman35@reddit
