Not only does Black & Decker (pardon me, BLACK + DECKER) still market it as a dustbuster, but their "Pivot" model is fantastic. It's one of my very favorite tools for cleaning around the house (it's great on non-carpeted stairs) and when ours broke from a falls after a couple years of service, my wife bought me another because she knows how much I love it. Model BDH2000PL. I'm pretty sure it was Wirecutter's pick a couple years back (I like them because they don't give 8 different Amazon affilate links disguised as "best for..." use cases) and with replaceable filters and modern battery technology it continues to run MUCH stronger than my parent's dustbuster ever did.
I know, it's probably weird to love my dustbuster so much, but I really do.
There's one in the maintenance break area at my work.
Our shift starts on Sunday morning, and the first things Lee does is goes and grabs the dustbuster to suck up all the FUCKING NAIL CLIPPINGS that the night shift guy leaves all over the spot he sits at
Ugh, yes. My parents were/are messy people and their idea of cleaning up was using a weak ass Dustbuster that barely sucked up anything at al no matter how new it was. We probably went through 20 of them.
Wet/dry shop vacs are the true unsung hero. I love mine. It lives in the garage and it gets all the “no I need real cleaning power” jobs. The parts are all no nonsense and barebones and it is noisy AF but it just doesn’t stop sucking. In a good way. Not that good way. We all saw Scary Movie. But still a good way.
I have a corded one that with the flat part that is like a normal vacumn cleaner but smaller works great for dirt around I sit, not that great with the small regular hole piece.
I have a cordless one that has great reviews and cost more than most brands and I find it doesn't do the job well, but I have a dog so that may be why.
What's the cordless one? I have a Shark Wandvac and it's been amazing. I've had to for years, but you def need to clean out/replace that filter occasionally. They have a pet hair version as well!
Last one I bought was in 2018 and it currently holds a charge for less than 30 seconds. When it finally dies, it will be the last hand held vacuum I buy that doesn't have a replaceable battery.

Yes

What is this from? Michael J. Fox looks like Marty McFly here, but I don't remember this scene from any of the Back to the Future movies.
rumdrums@reddit
Man my question exactly. Is it from the antique shop in BTTF2?
Jerkrollatex@reddit
Nope. I don't think I've ever personally owned one.
mmoonbelly@reddit
Yes. And I sing the Ghostbuster theme when using it.
Ok_Recipe12@reddit
Nah, they didn't suck back then, they don't suck now(see what i did there)
the only dustbuster i will endorse is the 1991 chevy lumina apv, that dustbuster was a great car.
Dog_Baseball@reddit
Different brand, but yeah I have one

I have the shark version, it doesn't get as much use as I thought it would though

texan01@reddit
Yes. An original 1985 CarDuster (12v powered corded DustBuster)
Three_Twenty-Three@reddit
I do. And I just bought one that uses the cigarette lighter in my car for vacuuming it (because the battery in my other one doesn't last long enough).
spderweb@reddit
It's about 6 feet away from me right now.
Oldpuzzlehead@reddit
Haven't owned one since the mid 2000s, now-a-days I change the adapter on my cordless Dyson and clean up whatever mess there is.
ammonthenephite@reddit
Yup, same here. I remember the dust buster, it just had almost no suction power and didn't work well. Modern cordless vacs are infinitely superior.
Yabbz81@reddit
The battery packs are absolute trash. It's just not worth it.
gooch_norris_@reddit
I no does Buster no more
LineImpossible3958@reddit
Fine, then I’ll DustBuster
The_Goondocks@reddit
Remember them being weak and lasting about 2 minutes

Honestly, the best vacuum I have ever had has been a small shopvac

Jekyll_1886@reddit
I still have my dustbuster stick vac from college. Can't remember the last time I actually used it though.
Cubelock@reddit (OP)
I still swear by these for keeping the furniture clean.
caramelpupcorn@reddit
I did not know they still made this brand. I remember it would lose suction all the time. I like to think it's what inspired Dyson.
I do have a handvac that I love and use daily if that counts toward the question!
Cubelock@reddit (OP)
Not under the same name sadly, but Lidl in Europe sold a classic looking one a couple of years ago.
It was blocky and grey, just like in the 80's. Sold out within a day.
Dark_Shroud@reddit
Some companies get it half right with retro styled products but screw it up with their labeling.
PersianCatLover419@reddit
Aldi also will randomly sell vacuums like this.

Can't remember exact model but it's a Shark pet one.
It's almost brand new, I run it over a surface and it doesn't seem to do anything
It's not a wandavac though, looks more like a dustbuster with attachments.
usernames_suck_ok@reddit
Is that what they were for? That would explain why they didn't do jack shit for the bigger jobs.
Dark_Shroud@reddit
No.
We actually had that same model with the extras. The wall mountable charging dock and the little practically useless brash adapter.
FoppyDidNothingWrong@reddit
A Dyson vacuum is like a GIANT dustbuster.
sunbeans@reddit
I bought one a few years ago - works just as good as I remember
brzantium@reddit
I call all hand vacuums "dust busters". I have a Black & Decker one right now.
wheres_the_revolt@reddit
My Dyson has a nozzle attachment and basically works like a dust buster.
madsci@reddit
I have a pair of Milwaukee handheld vacuums. It's much more convenient to just swap out battery packs.
chaos_in_the_colors@reddit
It’s from the Shark brand now but, yep!
Reasonable-Wave8093@reddit
Step dad had one for the car… at least for me they didn’t work… I prefer stick vacuums
Transplanted_Cactus@reddit
I have one of the ones that can be used upright or taken off. However this is the third one I've bought and none of them have had any decent suction.
PoppaT1203@reddit
“I no dust Buster, anymore!”
whyyoutwofour@reddit
Lol, I have three different varieties of these.
jtho78@reddit
We have a stick vacuum that can turn into a dustbuster.
eoddc5@reddit
I mean not this model. But I have one on each floor of my house and in each car. Portable vacuums are super handy
ailish@reddit
That's a big fat no lol.
TiEmEnTi@reddit
Several... the battery ones are gutless and I broke down and bought a new corded one. Essential tool when you have young kids and no dog.
Opunaesala@reddit
Yeah, we have a little hand vac to clean cat hair off of furniture and stairs.
PersianCatLover419@reddit
Yes it's excellent for cleaning a car.
observer2020_1@reddit
Literally bought one on Amazon Prime Day two years ago. Amazing.
edwardturnerlives@reddit
I got a cheap one, and next to my air fryer, is one of my fav kicthen tools. Crumbs, dog hair, unknown foreign objects GONE
Siphoneder@reddit

Yes!!! But it’s modern.
suspiciousyeti@reddit
We have a handheld vacuum bc dog fur.
IheartMsPacMan@reddit
The futuristic Dyson equivalent
Electronic-Ride-564@reddit
I still have a Dirt Devil one stored in the garage or somewhere. Battery's probably shot by now.
Eaglepursuit@reddit
We don't have any of the old ones, but we do have a modern incarnation of the handheld vacuum concept
Chemical-Cream1291@reddit
Had a lady come into work the other day wanting to buy a dust buster. She had to be in late 70s or early 80s and no not the year she was born
