VIDEO: Vehicles Pulled Out of Lake Cliff

Dallas police discovered at least 10 vehicles submerged in Lake Cliff. We went out to cover the scene, and saw police pulling one vehicle out and driving another one off-site. So far, DPD has recovered six vehicles: four on Thursday and two today.

Insurance jobs most likely
CFH75@reddit
no bodies?
Impressive-Age7703@reddit
We won't know until after they are finished investigating or whenever they decide to release details but typically it is after.

Decomposition happens faster than people think
DMTryp@reddit
especially with god knows what three-eyed fish level of mutagens are in there.
SkyScreech@reddit
Jesus Christ that’s morbid

The internet has ruined me.

Unkind but not untrue.

I mean there would still be bones
mylinuxguy@reddit
I wonder how many other large-ish bodies of water in the DFW area have a bunch of submerged cars in them too?
CopperTop_98@reddit
Called in one I found years ago. Fire department that responded said there’s a ridiculous amount in Arlington ponds
bigboat24@reddit
With bodies in them 🧐
CopperTop_98@reddit
He said bodies are very rare but a lot of them have no plates and the vin number is often removed so they likely didn’t end up in ponds on accident
bigboat24@reddit
No bodies. No plates. No vins? Why are these cars falling in there. /s
bigboat24@reddit
Don’t under estimate how strong some of those bass can be. If they left the car in neutral. Could have dragged it in.
CopperTop_98@reddit
Sounds like something the local Home Depot bucket fisherman would tell you

There’s a YouTube channel called adventures with purpose that is pretty much dedicated to recovering cars from bodies of water. It sounds like pretty much every lake/pond near any cities has a high chance of have one or more cars in it. It’s pretty wild how many disappearances are due to a water accident.
CollectMan420@reddit
I saw them ate lake como a few years back they did find a body in a car
TweakJK@reddit
I used to watch them. I was actually in one of their videos back when they pulled cars out of lake worth. They posted on Facebook that they were at lake worth, and I immediately knew the spot where they likely were. You can see me drive by and wave.
I've had a hard time watching any of their stuff now that we figured out Jarred was a sex offender.
Begthemeg@reddit
“Accident”?
SamHenryCliff@reddit
They pulled double digits out of California Crossing a while ago around the time when it was renovated / reconditioned.
TweakJK@reddit
You wouldn't believe the amount of cars there are in lakes.
They pulled 6 or 7 out of lake worth a few years ago. There are a few youtube channels that do it for a living, and often close decades old missing person cases.
JKinney79@reddit
That’s crazy, considering the size. It’s more like a big ass pond.
ThatSandwich@reddit
There are 4 streets, 2 to south and 2 to the east that dead end with a continuing path directly into the lake.
I can't explain why so many people would be driving through the stop signs/lights accidentally and into the lake, but it seems like the most likely cause as there are no blind turns that would result in this.
Elguapo69@reddit
Dude these aren’t accidents. Dumping ground for stolen vehicles

ThatSandwich@reddit
To be fair, I made that comment before I learned that 20+ vehicles were being pulled from the water.
5-6 over the course of decades doesn't sound that unreasonable.
RootHogOrDieTrying@reddit
Leave the body in the trunk and just push the whole car in. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Insurance purposes
GaySpaceOtter@reddit
I don't think so. This looks like the north side of the lake. https://maps.app.goo.gl/wmSSAbF4UhK64NNn9
ThatSandwich@reddit
Interesting, yeah fill me in later. Definitely an odd place to find so many cars. I figure insurance would pull these out if the drivers made a claim
IFuckedADog@reddit
It’s definitely north of the lake, I drove by on the way back home today, was wondering what was happening.
MethanyJones@reddit
I wonder how many were Kias
Anon31780@reddit
This, but for Altimas in need of paper plates.
swinglinepilot@reddit
NBC 5 just aired a story saying the cops were pulling all the cars in search of a lady in the early stages of dementia who hasn't been seen since 6/8 last year. They said they believed she may have driven into the lake and drowned
AdPowerful4065@reddit
A lake is a big ass pond lmao
nonamejd123@reddit
Yeah, apparently there was more car than water in there.
Squishy_Boy@reddit
This might be a dumb question, but are you supposed to always report finding a vehicle underwater? Years ago, I was kayaking on a small pond and saw a motorcycle inside it. It was in an area you couldn’t see from the shore because of some sheer cliffs next to it.
bikerdude214@reddit
No dead bodies in any of those cars???
BCMBCG@reddit
Most are going to be stolen/reported stolen for insurance purposes.
noncongruent@reddit
I'm surprised Dallas doesn't routinely run sidescan sonar surveys of all the lakes in the area to find submerged cars. Between sidescans and magnetometers no cars can be hidden in a lake.
BCMBCG@reddit
That would be cool, but we’re also talking about a city government that can barely get emergency services to show up to actual reported crimes.
Do-you-see-it-now@reddit
Would that make money or cost money? Then no they aren’t doing it.
sexiestbabyy@reddit
How did they get there?
istorres@reddit
My brother is a station 15 in Oak Cliff and they were out there during this. They said the cadaver dog got a hit on one car but there wasn’t a dead body in the car
BillDuki@reddit
This reminds me a little canal weaving through the chemical plants on the coast near my home town. Back in the 90’s there were some people crabbing, and someone pulled up an arm or something like that. Long story short, they found multiple sunken cars, and several contained people, one of which was a recent missing person. Theory was, the town about a mile away was the only local place that allowed bars to be open until 2:00 am, and the other place was about 5 miles from there. Well, they assumed the people they found were going from point “a” to point “b” after getting shitty at point “a”, and instead of taking the curve in the road, they kept going straight into the canal (it is just a little county road). To this day, the old timers call it “Dead Mans Curve”, and it is pretty much just an urban legend ghost story place now.
Striking-Lychee-8020@reddit
Did that place happen to be in Southeast Texas between Bridge City and Port Arthur?
BillDuki@reddit
No, it was between Freeport and Surfside.
Lyuseefur@reddit
Reminds me of what they found at Lake Mead as it dried up
noncongruent@reddit
IIRC they found a metal drum with a body in it, was a mob hit.
MozartOnMute@reddit
I thought this was a car catapult at first.
