Engine finally runs after 6 years sat then swapped out

Engine is out of my 98 mr2 that i bought 9yrs ago at 19, the chassis became too rusty for me to repair with my current capability so i stored it until last year when i bought a 92 auto import with a blown engine, swapped out engine and box rebuilding the box in the process due to a grinding synchro and did all ancillaries belts gaskets etc on engine. For the last few months it's been starting but stalling immediately after, yesterday i found out the ecu requires immobilisor signal the wiring of which wasn't hooked up fully, two connectors later and it finally runs!
Now to run clutch lines & refurb brakes to find out if I turned my gearbox into a metal snowglobe!

Nice man! That’s huge. Get that sucker driving and your motivation will stay consistent!

Cheers, its been tough keeping the spirit these last few months troubleshooting around work and life, especially since electrics are not my speciality by any means, some good mechanical tasks to get on with though which is food for my soul

I feel that last stretch is more mentally draining, since you know it's actually close and that its actually possible.

I feel that man! Small chunks at a time, even 30min tasks, small progress is progress!
Here’s where I’m at with my car… 🥲

even tidying can feel like a win at times lol!
very nice correct me if I'm wrong but 944? If so I was looking at these when i first got into mr2s but were always just a touch out of reach in price!
Any tips for getting on with bodywork on that scale? I've a decent welder and handy with a grinder just lack space at the moment as single car drive and garage

944 is correct. And yea these were out of price range for me as well, hence it being completely disassembled LOL. It’s a parts car I have another in the yard waiting to start actual project work.
And for body work, if you don’t have a space you can set up a DIY booth for painting, using pvc and plastic, but only if your place allows that.

Huge accomplishment, and an awesome project! Congrats!

Very nice, it's always a great feeling getting it running for the first time. Don't fall into the trap of "now that it runs I'll put it all together later" though. You'll enjoy the car a lot more if you get the interior 100% put back together before you start driving it, for example.

oh absolutely, I've added AC to it as well and sourced some gaskets for the modern refrigerants so this is planned to be a comfortable fuel efficient comfortable car. My long term plan is when i get a workshop to restore the other chassis and build in a v6 but there's alot of fabrication between me and that at the moment 😅

ignore the blowing manifold its only half bolted up so i could troubleshoot starting
