Dream Police by Cheap Trick

My brother is the one that got me interested in music. He was really into the Police, Cheap Trick and the Kinks. Those were really great times.

I have the album I bought when it first came out. Played it thousands of times. I babysat to buy Cheap Trick at Budokan in the 70s and have seen them in concert multiple times. Rick threw me guitar picks when I was in front row at one of their concerts and I still have them.

Everyone I've ever met from Rockford seems to know these guys personally. Nothing but good things to say.
Saw them in at a small local fair in '88 when they had the #1 song in the country. Saw them again at a dive bar in '96. Tiny place but they played it like a stadium show, holding nothing back.

Bun is kind of a pill. He still plays out around town
Rick's kids live in the area and are involved in the local music scene. Occasionally see Rick around town. Rick is associated with the local Hard Rock Casino.
Robin's daughter sings in a local band and is married to another member of the band.

I just listened to both the regular released live at Budokan and the 30th anniversary with many more tracks. Then watched a bunch of live video that night. That band delivered.

They were at the top of their game for those shows. Pretty much every Budokan track makes the album version sound weak and wimpy by comparison.

So true. I don't even listen to the album versions of the Budokan songs.

Very much Led Zeppelin-esque!

I feel so bad because I went and saw them a few years ago and was absolutely devastated that their whole set was heavy metal and they only played the good if they end. I didn’t know it was that kind of person.

Bun E. Carlos is one of the coolest drummers ever to walk the face of the earth.

How many necks can I put on this guitar? Yes.

My very first concert was Cheap Trick, my older brother was a big fan. Good times and still enjoy listening to: “Surrender”, “The Flame”, “If You Want My Love”, so many great songs…

I used to be in an indie pop band in the early 2000’s and we once recorded with Robin Zander’s son Ian. Ian was the product of Zander’s first marriage and doesn’t have much contact with his dad. Basically once he got remarried he ditched out the old one. But I’ll never forget the first time he strolled into the studio, his resemblance to his dad was uncanny. It honestly looked like a 1979 version of his dad but in modern clothes.

I saw them live. Their guitarist had a guitar with three necks, two parallel and a third perpendicular to the others. Fun show.
I also saw INXS and Tim Ferris road a skateboard across stage.
Lots of fun concerts back in the day.
