I was given all of the dvds that came with it, manuals and even an unopened disk of Microsoft word 2000.

Yeah it ran great as long as you had recent hardware. Stripped out a bunch of old shit.
I'd already moved to Windows 2000 though so ME was just used for old games that wouldn't run on it. Originally W2k had DirectX, they just stopped updating it after DX3 I believe, so had to wait for WinXP for full DirectX after that.

Was some kind of Pentium II or Celeron back then with a Voodoo2 card. Ran everything I played on it without issue, so I never understood the hate Win ME got.

I lean more towards dual boot windows 98 ( to get dos gaming, and windowsXP I know do can install as dual boot with widows98 not sure about w2k

If you don’t know the last time the heatsink was dusted out, there could be a pretty thick layer of dust and hair totally blocking the heatsink. Very very common
