Help with 1200w PSU for 9800x3D & 5090 Build
Posted by PersonSuitTV@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 8 comments
I am looking for a power supply for my 9800x3d / 5090 build and am stuck on the power supply. Many of the ones I was considering are out of stock, but I see things like the HX1200i that looks pretty good but expensive, or the RM1200 which is cheaper but only gold rated, and I am not really sure which way to go, or if looking for one with a native 12pin is going to be important. Any help is appriciated.

This is very cool. Based on this both the RM1200x Shift, and HX1200i get the A+ tier rating. Being that the HX is an extra $100 is it even worth it for the platinum rating?

The efficiency probably won't do that much. Also OP you probably already did, but double check the case is compatible with the shift model. Some cases are awful for it.

Even then, I think the difference between platinum and gold efficiency ratings is about 2%, so it would take a long time to pay for the difference.

I would say no, unless electricity is crazy expensive where you live. The platinum rating just refers to efficiency.

Get a reasonably priced A-tier ATX 3.1 PSU.

I have the Corsair Shift model and I am quite happy. I bought it directly from their webpage.
