Have you ever ordered something and ended up getting it for free?

Have just been listening to a podcast where they briefly spoke about receiving an order for free through system error.
I remember a period when air forces were like gold dust a few years ago and they were released every 5-6 months.
When they were released I brought a pair from Nike, quickly found them a few minutes later mildly cheaper on a different website so cancelled the Nike order and re ordered them on the different website.
A few days later they arrived, great! I was extremely baffled when another pair arrived a few days after. I looked at both invoices in the packaging and Nike sent through the cancelled pair.
Sold them straight away and it was the easiest £100 I have ever made.
Have you ever received something for free due to system error?

A couple of years ago, we ordered a Ninja air fryer directly from them. When it arrived it had some dinks and scratches on it, so my partner rang up to complain. They asked whether she wanted a refund or a replacement, and she asked for a replacement, so they arranged for the one we had to be collected and a new one sent out. Then she had an email about it, which referred to a refund, and we just thought it was how they'd worded it to go through their system, but a few days later the full amount was refunded back to our account. So we got a replacement AND a full refund.

I used to have a draught beer machine thing, and the kegs came from a Dutch company, if I remember correctly. I used to order in bulk, so I got 16 kegs. They were marked as delivered but I hadn't received them. Contacted the company to say the delivery had been marked as delivered, but I didn't have it, and the tracking actually showed it still in transit without moving for a couple of days. They replied, apologising, and asked me to wait 2 more days. After 2 more days, it was still not there, so they sent out a new order with 4 bonus kegs as an apology. 2 days later, 36 kegs arrived. The 4 bonus kegs were short dated shandy, so they didn't even get used.

I started a broadband contract many years ago & there was an introductory offer of a free 1st gen Google Home device. It never arrived. I complained after months & the company gave me £100 compensation. Months later an unmarked package arrived containing the Home device. No letter, no indication who sent it.

Yup, marks and spencer.
Ordered a new dressing gown as a Christmas present for my mum, plus 3 multi packs of knickers, totalling 15 as there were 5 in a pack.
Two weeks later, no sign of the parcel. I phoned m&s , who to be fair, apologised and delivered a new order with no quibbling at all.
The original parcel turned up two days after the second. I sold the second dressing gown on eBay as it wasn’t to my personal taste, but ended up with 30 pairs of knickers XD My knicker drawer still doesn’t shut properly XD

I ordered a tablet from Amazon for my dad's birthday a few years ago. A few days later they said it was delivered but I couldn't find it anywhere. Definitely wasn't handed to me and I couldn't find it anywhere in the garden. I complained and they sent out a new one.
A couple of days after the new one arrived my mum said "A parcel came for you the other day, I put it in the kitchen cupboard for you". Like that is a reasonable place to put a parcel, especially without telling me it had arrived. Neglected to tell Amazon the first tablet had arrived after all so I had a tablet for myself as well.

that's theft especially considering that a lot of small sellers sell via amazon and end up losing money because of people like you.

Recently yes. I ordered an adaptor for my car to use Android Auto wirelessly rather than cable. It didn't work properly, after some back and forth with the Chinese suppliers support we sorted out the setting that made it work in my car. I thought that was it but they contacted me to thank me for my time in helping them sort out the setting for this car and refunded the costs.
Before I jacked in work I used to do system test for SW releases so it was a bit of a busman's holiday.

Yep, two desks! I was in the market for a bit of a smaller/stylish desk and storage area, nothing was ticking both boxes at first. Finally stumbled across one that works as a desk and a storage/display, corner desk too, nice! Just what I wanted! Only about £90 too.
Order comes within the week, get around to moving things to get it built and set up. A few of the pre-made holes and nuts were missing and empty, popped them an email about it incase it's an error in more of them. Just ordered a set from Amazon for £5, fixed them in myself and got my £5 back because my stepdad took the rest for woodworking.
Took about a few days but they emailed me back saying they didn't have spare parts (that I didn't ask for anyway!), apologised, etc. I said all good, it's sorted. Another few days later and the same desk shows up at my door and I've got a full refund in my bank from the store. No word, another email a day later saying they'd refunded, keep the desks. It spent a year sat in a corner because I couldn't shift it, eventually my son took it for his own set up, this time ALL the screws/etc were missing. But hey, I got two free desks!

Ordered 32 bottles of cider from Thistly Cross, which were received happily and as expected.
The next day I got another tracking reference and note that my delivery would be that afternoon. Gloriously, it was another 32 bottles.
I sent them an email to advise of the error and they responded very quickly thanking me for letting them know and told me to enjoy the extra crate. Utterly delighted with how it turned out.

Xbox. This was a while ago. Said it was delivered and I said it hadn’t. Photo showed a different house to mine. They were utter cunts about sending a new one but did so in the end. 3 weeks later someone rocked up at my door with a box saying this was delivered to my house by mistake. If they’d have been nice I would have sent it back but they weren’t so I gave that one to my mate.

There was a period when I kept going across the street to Greggs for lunch. More often than not I paid with my phone. One day it didn't work and they just let me have it for free even though I said I'd leave it there and go back to fetch my card.

I ordered two speakers for Amazon, one for me, one as a present.
Two boxes turned up each containing two speakers.
I checked and had only been charged once, but wanted to do the right thing and went on the chat to tell them. They sent a label to return the extra two, and the agent said I would get a £15 goodwill voucher, which I did.
A couple of days later I got an email saying the return was complete and my refund was issued!
I tried to tell them again but they said the case was closed. So ended up with two free speakers and £15 on top.

Morrisons bitter via Amazon. It's remarkably cheap low strength beer. It seemed a good idea... I'm a thirsty bugger when I get a taste for it and having some 2.8 percent beers when id already had a few full strength beers is better than sinking more full strength ones. So I order 24 cans for something like £10. The order said 4x 440x 6. They sent me 4 cans. I contact Amazon, tell them it's the wrong amount. Amazon apologised and say I don't need to return cans and they will send me the full order of 24 cans tomorrow. Same thing happens again the next day. They sent 4 cans, I contact them again... Again they apologised, we will send you the full order.
In the end they messed up a total of three times. Meaning I ended up with 12 free cans of bitter in addition to the 24 i had actually ordered, so 36 cans for £10. Tried it again some months later but they started getting it right first time.

Once ordered a Sony car stereo for about £500 from Littlewoods, through my mum's account, as she'd need to keep something on the account to keep it open apparently.
It was delivered on a Friday, so Saturday morning, since I wasn't in college I started installing it. Just in case my parents needed anything I took the house phone with me(yes it was that long ago).
Half way through installing it, the phone rings, and it's someone from Littlewoods. They're apologising, as they don't have the stereo in stock, and are unable to get anymore. I simply thank them for letting me know, and say I'd pass on the message. Then I carry on finishing installing my, now free, car stereo with a massive grin on my face.
Given how much these companies over charge their customers, I feel no guilt.

My housemate had bought a new bed. It turned out to be low quality so we packed it back up and arranged to return it. The courier picked it up, then two days later delivered it back to our house. I explained it had been picked up at this location and needed to be taken somewhere else. The courier didn't care (this was the company that now calls itself Evri). My housemate started crying. Half an hour later she got an email saying the bed had been returned and her refund was being processed.
We still have the low quality bed and its mattress in the garage.

I ordered a 580gtx graphics card from a well known supplier back when they were good. A few days later two 580gtx cards turned up. I contacted the supplier - their after-sales service turned out to be bad - and after a week the surplus card still hadn't been picked up. I contacted them again and the next day it was picked up. A few days later my credit card payment was refunded.
I'd tried to do the right thing but after that experience I felt "stuff 'em".

I haven’t paid for a new pair of headphones for years. Every time I’m approaching the end of the 2 year warranty period I log a complaint that the product has stopped working or the case doesn’t charge anymore. Similar with shoes. Ordered a pair of £130 trainers but realised I ordered the wrong size, it defaulted to the smallest size for some reason even tho I selected my size, cancelled the order and reordered. Both came but I only paid for 1. My niece ended up with them as they were unisex.
Ordered a new Anova WIFI model water circulator (sous vide), back orders were delayed as it was brand new at the time and I posted on Reddit about it and that I was gonna use it for Xmas dinner but it’s late. Anova saw the post and offered to send me their old model while the new one turned up. Such amazing customer service. Once the new one turned up I messaged them on Reddit to see how to return the one they lent me, they gave me an email address and a name to speak to. Emailed them and got a reply saying they will get back in touch about how I can return it. No follow up email. Emailed a couple more times but never heard back from them so I ended up keeping it. It’s broken now but the one I paid for is still running great. (I wanna say this was around 2015?) Ive bought more products from them since like their vacuum chamber which is SO good. I will forever be grateful for their customer service. They have a customer for life. Also recommended friends and family to buy cause they sell really good stuff. Thanks @annovaculinary

I had one big win.
Ordered a brand new kitchen and fitting from wickes, came to a total of about £25-£30k (over 15 yrs ago).
When they came to do a final measurement the fitters told me that it would be an extra £x pounds to fit an extractor with the pipes going out the house. I explained that I had explicitly asked for that to be in the quote provided and could see it itemised, fitters insisted that it’s an extra fee that should go directly to them not via wickes.
So I call up Wickes and explain the within. Nice and polite, surely it’s just a mix up so either remove from the cost in the itemised bill and pay the fitters or it’s covered already. I was met with abuse and accusations that I was trying to scam them and it’s not in the itemised bill, the same bill which states extractor fan fitting with pipe outdoors. I tried to calm him down and asked if he can just explain what that cost was and was told he doesn’t know but it’s nothing to do with the extractor and more accusations. At this point I’d had enough and asked for a complaint to be logged and a call from the manager.
The manager calls a few days later and immediately makes it clear he is not going to be doing anything to help and won’t explain what the cost is for on the itemised bill. I then ask for the complain to be escalated and he outright tells me he is pals with the director and will make sure this complain goes nowhere.
I make the decision to cancel the order and have made no payments at this point. In the mean time the 6 burner cooker is delivered to the property.
The complain does indeed go nowhere. I call up Wickes head office and tell them to collect their cooker, I’m told they’d get someone to contact me to collect it. No response so I call again a few weeks later. And again a few weeks later this time I’m told they’d have no record of me.
So I have this c2k cooker for free now.

My dad bought a HP desktop computer with no monitor for £350. I thought it was a good deal, and decided to buy the same computer about 3 weeks later, but couldn't find it anywhere below £400, and was set against paying more than my dad.
Then, I found the same computer listed on Amazon Marketplace for £400 including a 24" monitor - decided that was an OK deal, and ordered. Duly the computer turned up, with no monitor. Chased up the marketplace vendor to ask when the monitor would arrive, and they admitted an error, and that there was no monitor.
So, I ask for £50 refund as a fair compromise - I get the computer for the price I'd wanted to pay, and they would avoid costs of a return/refund, etc. But after a week, they decided to just start ignoring me.
Not giving up, I raised a case with Amazon, pointing out the discrepancy, the communication with the vendor (all via Amazon Marketplace), and again stating that I'd be happy with £50 refund.
Amazon, in their wisdom, refunded the entire £400 and closed the case without asking me to return the computer. I've heard nothing in the intervening 9 years......

No, although it's easily done with items that aren't worth hundreds.
Order something from Amazon outside of the UK and say it arrived damaged or didn't arrive at all. The person on the web chat will more or less refund you immediately and tell you that you don't need to send the item back as for some reason Amazon require the item to be returned to where it came from, which is expensive.

Yep. A 14ft trampoline. I put it together and none of the legs had holes that lined up with the base to connect properly. Another time I ordered 2.5kg of whey protein, which never arrived. According to the GPS, Evri delivered it to an empty shop front one street over. A replacement was sent out, then about 6 weeks later Evri delivered the original order. I contacted the seller and they just said, don't worry about it.

All the time.
I regularly get food delivered that is short dated. Typically, fresh meat and fish. I always complain and they always give me a refund. It still gets eaten and goes in the freezer to keep.
Yesterday, I received 1kg of chicken wings, 3 packs of salmon fillets, and a pack of sausages. All short dated and all refunded - takes a few days to get the money back.
More often than not, if I order a bottle of spirits, it'll come with the security cap on, too. Again, I report it, get a refund, and then I remove the security cap myself with a Dremel.

I once bought a PlayStation 3 as part of a bundle and to my unexpected surprise also received an iPod nano worth about £150 I waited a few days to see if they reached out and heard nothing so I flogged it and it paid for more than half my bundle

I don't remember the last time I used deliveroo or Uber eats and didn't report missing items to customer service while I was eating. Also, if I order anything online and the delivery gets left anywhere but with me without my prior approval you best believe I'm on chat to support asking where my item is. Gotta play the game.

A few times. Once ordered an eye shadow from Debenhams online (KVD), paid for one and I received a pack of 6 of the same eyeshadow! Another time I ordered a perfume from Amazon and received two despite paying for one. It was a gift so I kept one of them! The best though was at the start of lockdown, I’d ordered a hoody and trousers for hiking, costing over £100. They didn’t arrive in the time advised, I chased it up and got a replacement set before my actual order arrived. I still wear them.

Nope, never happened to me. And to add insult to injury, apparently, according to my friends. I always pay more than anyone else for everything I have ever purchased because they have always got a better deal than me, or they know someone who did.

Ordered a t shirt from Goose & Gander. Came with a very asymmetric hem so I emailed them to complain and they sent another immediately. The other one is completely wearable at home or tucked in so now I have two. And would 100% shop there again due to the amazing CS

I bought some relatively decent headphone from Amazon (£260) which I was experiencing issues with. It was the last day of the returns window, so I contacted them and arranged a return for a full refund.
They refunded my order, then sent me another pair out as a replacement. I contacted them to return the additional pair, but because I didn’t have an open order to link it to they couldn’t do anything.
So I got a pair of decent headphones for free - the new ones worked perfectly.

We’ve recently had non-stop trouble with ordering online from the Disney Store, and Evri who they use for their parcels that we had to stop ordering.
I run my business from a storage unit facility and pay for a service where the reception staff receive my parcels. We’d ordered our little boy some Toy Story toys for his birthday in March, and Disney just cancelled the order. Customer services said that freight forwarding services weren’t allowed, and wouldn’t accept that it wasn’t a freight forwarding service.
Instead ordered the parcel to our local Evri shop, where the driver took a photo outside the shop but said he was unable to deliver, would try again the next day. Then got stuck in a warehouse for weeks. Evri customer service weren’t helpful and just had an AI bot claiming they “were chasing the depot and would get back to me in 48 hours.”
Then some weeks later it got marked as delivered to the shop and then scanned as being back in the depot. The shop hadn’t received it, the AI bot emailing me at Evri just said “I see you’ve received your parcel,” and started ignoring my responses then.
Managed to get hold of customer services through Facebook, they sent out replacements to my partner’s friend’s house as we were then on holiday. We received that parcel and ended up being a late birthday present.
Then about a month later, the original parcel really did turn up at the shop, and because of all the trouble we’d had with Disney and Evri, we just decided to keep the toys. We gave them away to my parter’s nephews who were over the moon

Lots of digital PC games on Amazon years ago. There were tons all listed at £0.00, obviously in error. I remember the Witcher 3 being one of them, which was a huge AAA game at the time. I tried my luck and "bought" a handful and the sales all went through no problem. I even got cheeky and put a few of the keys on eBay for a couple of quid. Made quite a bit doing that, as it was a pretty new game and was still retailing for quite a lot of money.

Something similar: I ordered a shirt but received the wrong size. For some reason, customer support told me not to bother returning it, and they'd just send me another.
I gave the one with the incorrect size to a friend.

Ordered an expensive jumper that never arrived. So they sent out another one. 5 weeks later the first one turned up.

A few months ago I ordered a ceiling light for my bedroom from Dunelm & some bathroom items. Did click & collect. Normally I’d get a text to pick up the next day. After 3 days I went down to see if the items had come in, someone brought my items out & apologised they’d missed them scanning them in. Thought nothing of it & off I went. About a month later I had an email confirming the refund because they couldn’t locate my order? 🤷🏼♀️

Does it count when I've told amazon things haven't arrived because the delivery driver thinks my drive up about 20 steps and not in view of the front door is the same as "parcel was handed to resident"?

Years ago BT were giving away a free wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 when you signed up for broadband. I didn’t receive it after a few weeks so complained and they sent another out, about a week later another arrived. Only worth about £60 at the time so gave it away to a friend.

Ordered hammock chairs from Amazon. Decided we didn’t want them. Arranged courier collection to pick them up. Courier never arrived. Contacted Amazon who basically said “keep them”.

Got an Xbox off Amazon and the game code was used. Asked support for a discount to cover the game, got refunded the whole amount. Did double check with the support person

I ordered a fleece off Amazon. They delivered it but I got an email to say they couldn't deliver it. I asked what happens next. They said because it was the last one available I would just get a refund.
