DEN, not DIA?
Fromtheli@reddit (OP)
DIA is just Denver International Airport
747ER@reddit
DIA is Doha International Airport. Denver International Airport is DEN.

Obviously you don’t live in Denver
theaviationhistorian@reddit
The proper name for it is Blucifer House.
747ER@reddit
That’s correct, how could you tell? Is getting airport codes wrong a requirement for living in Denver?
Fromtheli@reddit (OP)
No one said KDEN
747ER@reddit
No one said OTBD either. Those are different codes.

It’s what the locals call it. When it was under construction it was referred to as DIA to distinguish it from the old airport. When Stapleton closed the airport code transferred over, but the name stuck.

KCI is what folks in Kansas City call MCI airport.
Metropolis4@reddit
We call it DIA all over the state of Colorado.
theaviationhistorian@reddit
You are tempting a dark fate for not calling it Blucifer's Lair.
Fromtheli@reddit (OP)
The road signs are labeled here as DIA as that’s what the locals call it as

Kinda confusing considering I woke up to this post and wondered, "now there's an incident at Dulles? What's next, wingtip slashing at Joint Base Andrews?!"

So how old was the plane and when had it undergone maintenance?
halfty1@reddit
Since it was the engine it is not necessarily the same age as the airframe- engines get swapped around all the time.
CollegeStation17155@reddit
Or a brand spanking new engine replacing one that was sick. But the point is that since it wasn't a new plane, the fault is on AA maintenance. And somebody needs a good talking to.

Scrolled back about 10 months and didn’t see any obvious heavy checks. Was a day where it seemed to be doing non-rev out of CLT in January, I think.
Regardless, assuming the MX logs are being done correctly it should be easy to find when the work was done. But there will be some tough conversations with all involved, especially whoever signed off on the work.

Only 13 years old. Relatively young.

In many ways an airplance is the structure you build to keep the engines from killing the pax.
ChiefTestPilot87@reddit
Was it a Boeing?
CessnaBandit@reddit
It had the coal burners incorrectly installed
